Hola. Sencillamente espectacular. Ya conocía esto en Power Bi. Pero verlo en Excel directamente es una "pasada" y me encanta. Lo voy a intentar aplicar ya. Muchas gracias.
BUM, two measures on top of each other with Series overlap = 100% and deactivate filter on the one (in other situations could be done with ALL) - that is slick 👊 Thanks 😉
Fabulous Linda, thank you so much! I have power pivot, that's great. But what if I share with colleagues who do not have it (Excel 2016 Standard)? I'd think that they should be able to navigate in the charts, am I right?
Glad you liked it! It depends what version of Excel 2016 they have. This post explains which versions have Power Pivot and which don't: support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/where-is-power-pivot-aa64e217-4b6e-410b-8337-20b87e1c2a4b
HI there Mynda, great video as usual, very well explained. I ave one point however where i am stuck, at 5:31 you are mentioning that the gross profit column not changing just the selected brand one. For me both columns react to the slicer, not sure why or where i went wrong? i have replicated your steps completely, not sure why mine working different to yours?
Sales data demo’s are fine and dandy, but there is a whole lot of excel and bi being used in healthcare that it would advantageous to use those datasets in examples. I mean how many times do we need to look at widget sales when we have meaningful healthcare date to look at?
I agree, but getting sample healthcare datasets isn't as easy as sample sales data. If you have some, please send it my way. Personally, I don't really think it matters whether the data represents sales or something else. It could just as easily be replaced with other numeric data. The technique still works in the same way.
Thank you for the fantastic video Mynda! I have one question on inactive relationship. What’s the reason for using inactive relationship vs active? Thank you!
Hi Feng, there are many reasons for using an inactive relationship, one example is in the video. Others might be because you can only have one active relationship between two tables, but you might need multiple relationships, with the additional relationships having to be inactive. You can activate inactive relationships with the USERELATIONSHIP function. There's more than I can go into here though.
This layout will not work with PivotTables. You should use Power Query to unpivot the data into a tabular format: ua-cam.com/video/-IMqkg35adA/v-deo.html
Hi Nilanka, it should be the same in Excel 2013. I suspect there is a problem with the inactive relationship. Please check that it is actually inactive.
Hi mam I have seen and learn lots from your videos and it helps a lot I have a quary about this tutorial can we make cross fillter chart with 2 diffrent data like production by brand and product code and same is for sale by brand and and sale with product code I try lot but have so many errors when I make as same But for only production no error When I enter sale data not done Please help
Thanks for sharing! Please hepl me, i can't figure out: when i add slice, my pivot table only show selected rows , not all (unsectected brands not showed).Thank you,
Please post your question on our Excel forum where you can upload your Excel file and I can see what the problem is: www.myonlinetraininghub.com/excel-forum
Not as easily because Treemap charts don't support PivotTables as data sources. You'd have to create a regular chart from the PivotTable as explained here: ua-cam.com/video/5vOqZBmBRos/v-deo.html
Hello, Fantastic video. Here is a basic question that I can't figure out: when I create a simple column or bar chart the difference presented with the graph is not proportional to the difference in the actual data. For example if the difference is only 15% the visual presentation shows a much bigger one. I figured I can go in the axis setting and fiddle around with data and make the bars somewhat more relevant to actual data but that is not very intuitive and as soon as data is updated chart is messed up. Any suggestions? Please and thank you.
Hi Peter, If you want the bar sizes to be accurately proportional you need to ensure the axis starts at zero. Column and bar chart axes should always start at zero anyway, otherwise the differences in the bar size is misleading, as you've discovered.
@@MyOnlineTrainingHub Thank you so very much for the tip. There are lots of excel trainer on UA-cam as you know; but communication is not their forte. So two thumbs up! Now that lots of people are trapped in their houses it leaves tons of time to revisit some of the Excel skills and look for answers, Thanks again for having the answers in your back pocket. Cheers!
Hi, Thank you for the video, I have a question about chart creation: how can I create a chart (let`s see a line chart) out of two sets of data which have different intervals (for instance, one is monthly data and another is monthly data). I want to put these two sets of data in one chart and it can update automatically once I add new data into the set. Thank you very much!
Hi Michael, I presume you mean one set is daily and the other set is monthly. In which case I recommend you summarise your daily data up to the month level of detail so they can be compared like with like. Otherwise you'll (presumably) have larger figures for the monthly data than the daily data and it won't make sense to present it in the same line chart. Otherwise, you'll need to assign the month data to the 1st or each month so that it can share the date axis with the daily data. Mynda
Hi Mynda, I wonder what excel do you used in the video? I mean, is it Excel Office 2019. Coz it's different display with my Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2019. But overall, I really likes your tutorial, tips and tricks for excel, especially coz not using vba or macro.
Hi Sharon, I haven't used Tableau, so I can't say from experience, but if you look at the Gartner reviews, they put Power BI ahead of Tableau: info.microsoft.com/ww-landing-2020-gartner-magic-quadrant-for-analytics-and-business-intelligence.html?LCID=EN-US&ls=Website
