- Tinico All Transistor Tape Recorder Restoration.
In this video you will see the restoration of the "Stierlitz Tape Recorder” (WW2 Spy Recorder), or rather, the Japanese original of the “Tinico All Transistor Tape Recorder” of 60s, that was the prototype for the Soviet analogue "Electron-52D" and was used in the legendary film "Seventeen Moments of Spring" (1973). In the film, the "Siemens" logo was applied on the recorder "Electron-52D".
As for the original Tinico, for the 60s, when this toy was created, its dimensions were extremely miniature - 160 x 64 x 40 mm. Weight ca. 350 grams. The electrical circuit is based on two germanium transistors.
1,5V motor powered from two AA batteries connected in parallel, electronic parth is powered from 9V. The headphones of this tape recorder were used for recording as a microphone.
This tape recorder is a wonderful piece of engineering from the 60s.

В этом видео вы увидите реставрацию «диктофона Штирлица», вернее, японский оригинал диктофона фирмы „Tinico“ 60х годов, с которого и был в последствии скопирован советский аналог «Электрон-52Д». Именно его использовали для съёмок легендарного фильма «17 мгновений весны» (1973). В фильме логотип «Сименс» нанесен на магнитофон «Электрон-52Д».
Что же касается оригинала, то для 60-х годов, когда создавалась эта игрушка, ее размеры считались крайне миниатюрными - 160 x 64 x 40 мм. Вес устройства - прибл. 350 грамм. Электрическая схема выполненна на двух германиевых транзисторах. 1,5В электродвигатель запитан от двух АА батарей включеных паралельно, электронника питается от 9В. Наушники этого диктофона использовались как микрофон.
Этот магнитофон - прекрасное произведение инженерной мысли 60-х годов.

Yes Mayfair Tape Recorder Solid State 1602 from 1967 has the similar construction.
Was there anything on the original tape that came with the recorder? I love hearing the original recordings made back when the unit was new.

Спасибо за отзыв! К сожалению, это не полноценный магнитофон, а японская игрушка для детей из 60-х, поэтому качество записи и воспроизведения не соответствуют нынешним стандартам. Но этот малыш работает! 😀

daem, pretty neat thing alho the sound quality is garbage, maybe rinsing off the print and play head with some hydro peroxide would help it, also... dont put on the tape reels before powering it up, e.m.p's can mess up your tape
