I remember playing this when i was about 5 years old... I had no idea what i was doing, but i still played it a bunch of times, and i dunno why. LOL! 😆
@@ratataran well actually guy here--it's actually a scripted event. bug I've found is that the King can also have a 10JQKA of spades in the hand IT shows on the scripted royal flush hand, so they forgot to make it look official :)
Ah, Casino Kid, one of the most important games in shaping my taste in them. There was no word that I was aware of for the anime (or Japanimation!)style this game is drenched in, I only knew that I absolutely was taken with it. The adventure element of it really went a long way in teaching me how elements of one genre could enhance others and things like that had a hand in causing me to approach things with an open mind. Also, here's a comparison I guarantee NO ONE made: the structure of this game being essentially a card game version of a "boss rush" featuring over the top personalities, this game came to mind almost immediately upon my first time playing No More Heroes, another huge influence of mine. Did anyone else just "bet all money" and hope for the best? I admit that got me further than it probably should've! This is one game of which I would love to see remade or someone do a Golf Story-esque "inspired by" rendition, but because it's not Castlevania, Mega Man, or Ninja Gaiden, no indie developer making games today have ever even heard of it.
I get it. People often forget the kind of wasteland it was for some places as far as being able to have access to see all the crap from Japan or different animation from around the world or films for that matter. Like the first time I remember knowing that anime was something big when I just saw a single copy of Akira on video tape in a comic book store in like 91. Having no clue what that movie was or what it meant (I saw it years later). I played this as a kid cuz I live in Vegas so gaming you know is not a big deal. My aunts and uncles and grandfather all played video games. I recognize the RPG elements from dragon Warrior and final fantasy right off the bat when playing this, thought it was cool
The Japanese version of this game is based on a shounen manga about a kid who aims to become the best gambler in the world, beating all of the "phantom emperors" of gambling. You could even travel to different locations in the Japanese version, if you had enough money, that is.
Thanks for the play through, never saw or even heard about this game, and I'm surprised that it was localized to North America due to the very strict guidelines as gambling is kind of a vice! I just wanted to comment that has nothing to do with the game but gambling in general, and that is its amazing to me in real life the huge luxurious casino floors and plush grand hotels above as a stark jarring comparison to just outside the casino's door... very very seedy and stuff outside and around.
My family used to play this one a lot back in the day. There was also another casino game they played. I can't recall the name, but I know that random events happened and the news told you whether it was good or not. For example, some rando could approach you and propose, and the news'll say if it was a scam wedding or not. They also just sent you home if you lost. Was it in a bus?
Eu amo demais esse jogo, eu jogava demais no meu famiclone, venci ele umas três vezes, apesar de não saber jogar poker, se alguém souber me dizer qual a modalidade de poker desse jogo, eu agradeço ( é sério).
You are able to play the slots in the Japanese version of the game, however for some reason, they cut this out of the international version of the game.
Casino Kid is a weird but totally endearing take on video game gambling.
Those gutless bastards didn't tell me it was a good game!
Do you know the manga's name by any chance?
Sabe me dizer se tem algum outro jogo desse além do Casino Kid 2 (talvez com algum outro nome, mas fazendo parte da história do jogo)?
@@conta7619 The Japanese version ($1,000,000 Kid) is a lot different but it plays similarly. There is also Vegas Dreams and Vegas Stakes.

@@randy7894 --- LOL! Fortunately, i've actually avoided it my entire life. 😄
Lolol that's funny 😂
I scored a royal flush on this game when facing the casino king in '91.
Wow, and that has never happened again, lol. Wonder if that was programmed into the game

It tried to make casinos fun, and I commend them for that
Unique take on Casinos and RPGs. I'll give them that. The Japanese version was quite different, however.
At least the artwork in game looks pretty good
I remember this game a long time ago. Just poker and blackjack. No slot machines, roulette, or craps.

Not really. The control isn't AAASSSSSS, the gameplay isn't entirely awful, and it's otherwise playable.
