Yes objectively he wasn't completely wrong coz apart from Sentinels and GenG rest of teams didn't look very good.
PRX and LOUD were having problems integrating their new player along with figuring out meta. TH and KC couldn't beat any top team at the event. FPX still played like inexperienced even after 3 appearances. EDG played worst in the event event even though they got a win against PRX.
Comparing this to Champs 2023, obviously Madrid looked underwhelming.

I think boaster talked about this before already and I agree with him that if you dont at least have confidence that you could beat anyone theres no point in even showing up to the games.

@@cyberf4mine My main issue with the "have confidence that you could beat anyone" response is that the "even" tier is also one where you presume you could beat the team even though it would be close. Being confident is fine, but it worries me that FNC are sometimes appearing to think so little of some of the opponents that they aren't putting in effort to have winning game plans. You have to respect the strength of the opponents plans even if you think you can and playing last year's recycled comps isn't doing that.
I liked the editing of gameplay being referenced intertwined with the static shots of you giving commentary in the opening segment. It feels rudimentary and could certainly be polished more, but given that you have some of the very best analysis in this space, seeing more value being placed on engaging a viewer is cool.

@@Jackerlus lowkey, I think that him calling the level low may also be a symptom of what Boaster thinks is important to high level gameplay. Some of the macro was played a little sloppier, with many inexperienced teams playing in a new meta with teams that hadn't shown much yet, but I think some of the smaller details were what carried Madrid. Last year most of the game coming down to macro-play(boaster's specialty) and aim(the rest of FNATICs specialty), whereas this year lots of the micro-strats seem to be taking over the game, and I don't know if they've been working too hard on that part of the game so far.

I love shit talking in esports one of reasons why I like Demon1. But Boaster isn't a shit talker and certainly he wasn't shit talking here. He was just spreading blasphemy by saying The level of play in Madrid was low when his own team couldn't even qualify. This comment takes away all the efforts the top teams in Madrid were putting in and makes the win look not challenging compared to previous masters wins.

I agree with your overarching point. Anyone saying Fnatic is losing because of these excuses or sickness is short sighted. Sure it contributes but teams are innovating and reacting quicker than FNC are. There’s bigger problems under the surface. At least they’re taking the return trash talk in stride

Guys being confident that "i would win anyone" is all and good for sometime but if you dont have the fear of loosing they you wont put enough work.So i think having fanatic level of confidence will only hinder the growth.cuz they world think they are always right and wont improve.

If Fnatic isn't playing at the level, it seems pretty clear to me that there is only one person to blame, and he's not one of the players. Elmapuddy has had a horrendous career in Valorant, and we saw last year these players are some of the best in the world under Mini. Being behind in composition can only have 2 people to blame, and it'd be the Coach and IGL. Boaster might've been confident in the team, but I doubt he'd actively push back against a comp change like Leo to Gekko and Chronicle to KAYO, like Leo was hinting at on Fnatic's socials after their failure to qualify at Madrid. It just looks to me as though Elma is not at the level of a Kaplan, Engh or Potter.
I always felt like Fnatic were so dominate last year because other teams didn't get a chance to even play like there was only 1 split and LCQ, thank God this year is more reasonable and gives more opportunity to more teams.

the one problem I have among many with fanatic comps for quite a while that they don't uses flashes in most maps unlike other teams , what it hinders it is that if their plays doesn't go accordingly they have no chance to overcome a choke angel or take crucial duels with a flash neither take a advantageous positioning, most of the time they just stalls after their initial push stops or gets punished ,for the lack of the flashes they cant procced with the push anymore, other team uses flash/initiators like abusing them in all maps to take control, duels, run fakes initiators like gekko and K/o brings so much value in some maps , they still behind the meta so far fetched. They talk a lot about there protocols and basics, thus staying together, peeking together but even if with all protocols covered if you don't have wiggle room , imagine you are peeking a angel with your bud , lets say you are swinging right with two people and enemy are holding your cross, either way in a actual case 8 time of 10 you both will die because enemy is just holding you in different angels even you are prepared for for multiple angels they have the advantage of positioning either way. Now imagine the same scenario with a flash assist to , it would be night and day, after you flash and take position enemy are forced to reposition or hide , it can very well change the round, both icebox and lotus you can see that they were struggling(fnatic) to take controls after a post plant or in general or had to push far to get rounds, heretics did tremendous job utilizing it , other could say they have omen but, its(paranoia) doesn't have the same property as other initiator/flash agent, of course paranoia can take site or control but its one time, most of the time its used early to stall pushed , but after that you might as have to play the whole round without the flash
TBF, Heretics look like the best team in EMEA rn. KC underperformed at Madrid and TH have shown they can anti strat them. So Fnatic still being able to take TH into overtime shows they have the potential to still be the best. If we can see that they aren't play their best, and they're still taking TH to OT. Once they fix that they will be the best. Whether they can fix it is the bigger question. The players don't seem motivated or hungry enough to want to win compared to last year.
I swear, FNC going back to the triple Sentinel comp would be better...

Forgive my ignorance as I don’t fully understand the role of a coach, but could this be a coaching problem? I know that the IGL will bring in most of the ideas but they are clearly lacking in the macro game and I wonder if the coach should be aware and stepping up to help them counter these plays..

the mid rounding was good, they just played sloppy and ass. Their individual mechanics dropped significantly, specially boaster. I mean I wasn't expecting him to be johnqt, his more like fns.
The thing is the meta has evolved. You can't just rely on mid rounding and 100 rotations alone, or hold an angle for eternity and wait for the opponent to make a mistake. Good teams now are able to play it rough as well as slow. They're also more proficient at combining util to exec/retake, just like PRX was known for. The slow methodical play style can only get them so far.l, it's not CS anymore.

I love shit talk, but man you can't be talking this much shit when you got nothing to back it up. I know that boasters philosophy is "play solid valorant not new valorant", but they couldn't pull out literally anything new. Fns said last year "how do you call against fnatic... You can make the perfect call and then alfa kills 3" and it felt like watching them they had none of that to counter good calls. They had 0 retake, poor dueling, bad anchoring, it was absolutely NOT the fnatic from masters Tokyo.
really disagree with the icebox comps. Heretics played the 2021 old ah hell comp with a horrible winrate that gets hardcountered by the viper harbour comp since they dont have a flash and no flash against double controller is horrible. The viper harbour comp together with the kayo comp are the most competitive icebox comps. Period.
