0-3-7, 04-7 .. thats all you really need to know, but you gotta build your root notes first, and then figure out whether to go minor or major i never listen to them while i build, i usually think in my head.. depending where the first note is place, if i want to go happy or tense, i usually like to start happy on a minor scale and end with tension so it actually stays in the minor scale, then from there build the top melodies(this is where u shine) chords are the easiest part of a song , your soul and uniqueness will usually have to be on this section, and it's what sets apart the boys from men , good stuff man, youre def getting better at getting more unique

Good call. I usually start with that kind of progression with bass notes then place each note at a time with each moment of the song and tweak each note one by one until they all fall into place and make something interesting. Keep tweaking every not you don’t like listen back a bunch of times and do one note at a time and take your time. That’s what I do.
This really helps a lot! Thank you! I always struggle with filler notes and trying to make it more interesting. I love how you made it simple and understandable compare to the other videos around UA-cam that I tried to understand
Bro you’re straight shining in these ten minute plus vids. You inspire me to take bigger steps, and achieve more. I’ve been watching for a minute. This content and knowledge is 🔥🔥🔥. I really like your unique style. You always give me a fresh perspective and that’s priceless, Thank you Senpai. 🎼🎹🎧👘🥋
Hey brother. I just found your channel, and I’m digging it. I’m an older rocker, but I can see some carry over between our styles. I’m more into real drums and sounds, but the melodies you chose here are very similar to the music I like to write. So I’ve subbed, liked and commented. I’m looking forward to hearing more of your stuff. Great video, man. Very instructional, I love it. All the best bro.
word this deff helps man! thank you! one question is, i saw on the 3rd bar it was a minor chord(atleast in the beginning) as 1,2 & 4 remained a major. how do you know when to do that? & is it bad not to do that?
i think you may be confused as the first and third chords are minor and the second and fourth chords are major. however, sometimes it can be good to go between minor and major chords, but theres really no rules to it, using your ears is what works best and seeing what chord would sound how you want after the first chord
I like your videos very informative. The problem I’m having is when your teaching parts that have sound, you have music playing and it’s confusing my ear. I couldn’t figure it out at first but I realized it here
Theres sometimes I forget about what chords I'm playing and I'm adding an 808 like fk what was the root note again😂?! lol Good to see things mad simple💯🔥
i always feel like that if i add too much notes and variation to the chords and melody in general that the artists dont have enough room for singing/rapping, which is hindering me a lot rn... also for the past few days ive had a melody block, really frustrating
@@rlyBeatsI really wouldn’t think that would be much of an issue either. Do you see how much melody goes into anime openings? They still sing over those.
New to the channel and new to production. I love your videos. Is the tope-line the melody or the counter melody? What notes should I use in a counter melody? When I put my melody on a different instrument do I take any of the notes from the chord progression or keep them separate?
Excellent video, I'm interested in your sauce essentials If I buy it, can I make any genre with it. I'm a beginner in learning to make beats and have been learning how to use fl studio Signature edition with the Arturia 49 key essentials. would this kit help me?
i wasnt the one who made that kit, however, it has some great stuff to learn from. some good drum sounds and some great midi files to use for drums and melodies. if youre looking for something more though, i am working on a big kit with presets, oneshots, drums, midi, and more. in general though the sauce essentials kit is more trap focused
@@irahamilton632 im aiming for early june, but for courses tbh i feel theyre a waste of money, all the info you need is free on the internet, theres a grind component that no one really highlights tho, cause you cant just learn without applying yk ? like you can learn the form to shoot a basketball and all the technicals, but you wont be good at it until you practice a bunch
I must be missing something since I couldn't make any chord progression in any key, my major and minor chords always gets the same repetitive pattern at some point. Really struggling with the execution if you could give some advice I would be very grateful

@@rlyBeats hmm sometimes I feel like making the melody sound more kinda “under water” or more “flat”. If that makes sense. I also know that it’s possible to adjust the sound of singe note or chord with curves (or whatever it’s called in FL), but I have no idea where to even find that window.
