No... France is a disaster. They have the absolute best Military in the world, but NONE of them are French, and it is known as "The French FOREIGN Legion". France is always relying on other countries to get them out of trouble.
@@nobody7817 The only disaster here is you, ignorant and brainwashed clown. During more than 1500 years, France is the country with the highest ratio of military victories, often alone against entire coalitions. All true historians know it, except ignorant losers like you.
French WW2 losses, 600000, military and civilians. US WW2 losses on all fronts, not even 420000. The French had already experienced at least 1500 years of wars and massacres on their soil, when US were still a desert populated by Indian nations. You will be able to talk of wars when you will experience a real one near you, not watching Spielberg Ryan stuff in movie theaters.
The Allies did not care about Paris and wanted to bypass it all together. However, French National Army refused to bypass the capital and they won the argument... while allowing the Germans more time to reform a defensive lines instead. Their greetings also included the collaborators being hung, shot and the women beaten, their heads shaved and savagery raped by men and "objects". Sometimes the rape by objects killed the women. Remember your history, war is hell on earth.
Blood always called blood. No one's denying the horros of the "épuration". It was a general phenomenon, though ; it also took place in many areas throughout France, Italy and Belgium. It's not specifically linked to the Liberation of Paris. About 10,000 people died in France during the post-war revenge, 2 000 of which were legally condemned to the capital penalty, the others were executed without trial by private individuals or soldiers. Some were notorious collaborators and proeminent figures of the Vichy regime, others were just ordinary civilians who had some relations (romantic, work related and so on) with the Germans, and you had even some who were entirely innocent (assuming knowing Germans was a crime) and were denounced or killed by a neighbour, a debitor or a rival. That said, and while we must remember these horrors, should we not be happy of the Liberation of Paris ? Allied operations and bombing in France killed more civilians than any German military operation, deportation excepted. My own great-grandmother was killed by an American airstrike in Paris suburbs in 1944. Yet we still celebrate the D-Day. And rightly so. War is war. People die. Innocents die. It's not fair, it's not clean. It has never been and never will be. Sometimes, however, avoiding war is a greater crime than carrying it.
There was no French Army... it surrendered before the first shot was fired. It was the French underground resistance (the REAL Frenchmen) who assisted THE ALLIES in liberating France... maybe you should LEARN the history that you tell us to "remember".
No English troops were involved in the liberation of Paris and if Churchill hadn't withdrawn fighter cover in 1940 France would have never fell in the first place.
And what about the Free French Forces, who were 1,3 million involved on the western front in 1945. The 4th Allied forces in numbers. Regual forces, not beret resistance Hollywood B.S. They fought on all fronts, from 1941 until 1945. From North Africa until Gerrmany. Still a lot of ignorance in 2024.

English boasters should thank the Channel who saved their sorry butts, otherwise they would have been crushed like all Europe, including Soviets during 2 years. Pathetic, and boring.
Ok, & the Soviets lost a lot more men than either of those figures. # of Losses doesn’t really have anything to do with winning wars. If anything, the point is to lose less men than your enemy.
Greeting from Los Angeles, very important day in France!ALSO THANK YOU for a WONDERFUL OLYMICS!🎉🎉
A great achievement by the Allies and the Resistance. Fortunately the Germans did not destroy Paris as Hitler had demanded.
I'm with you, and fellow Filipinos joining your commemoration...
The comments section is already a sad disaster.

Hey... France... My Dad says, "You're Welcome!" ~ United States
The UK and Canada were there also
Did they remember to credit the Americans?

You need to learn history
It was the free French army
The resistance that did most of the fighting was the communists
Which was quickly disarmed
Yes and they show NO thanks to the people from the country north of them England , only total contempt 😢
That's ok, neither one of you think much of the US who sent many a person to your individual and collective aid.
Aw, you're angling for compliments.

If it's not for the brits, france would never be able free itself. France and surrender goes hand in hand.
Bravo - Vive la resistance!
Macron 🇫🇷🌟💪👍❤️
Where’s the colonial troops that made up most of the French army at the time
Thanks for a magical Olympics Paris! Especially with the Masked Torchbearer and Joan of Arc...
They call them Nazis Germany but deep in their scared little hearts they know is same German
I heard Spanish communists from the Spanish civil war helped liberate Paris.
What a nice year for France. Olympics and 80th anniversary ☺️

Like they did anything to achieve this… they need to thanking United States and UK

Remember the Poles, French and Russians took the hit face to face while you guys took your sweet time behind the safety of the seas.
Infringe
Why? it seems so out of place in todays world with the war in Ukraine.
