With me, I want to write a ballad for my story, but I'm so new to songwriting that I'm going to have to go to another video because I don't know what a verse chorus or bridge are but I know what it's going to be about and the reason it's going to be a ballad is I write stories in more of a historical setting so modern types of songs are not what I want because I want a type of song that fits the setting better but I should come back to this video later after I learn what a verse chorus and bridge are.
I think this was very very informative, you have sufficient examples for your points as well! I love the section on adding extra interest in the verse instrumentation, I never thought of that 😊 when arranging. Dope dope 🎉
20:27 4'33" by John Cage is the piece you were talking about that is entirely composed of movements of tacit. I like the piece because of the conversation it sparks about what makes music. My music theory classes had many great conversations about what constitutes music, because most if not all definitions of music we developed ended up excluding a sizable chunk of music or including things like speech. Love the podcast! Keep 'em coming!

Haha, believe me there are ALWAYS some haters, but I appreciate the kind words. I definitely have some more beginner-oriented stuff that should make more sense, and I do plan on doing some "back to basics" kind of stuff here soon, hopefully those will help you out! Is there anything specific you'd like to learn or think should be covered for beginners?
@@SongwriterTheory 😂 No don't be offended he's a great actor actually. I don't know how or why you remind me of him😅. Sorry if I caused you any bad feeling.
Chorus first gives the unifying idea or theme, so then you can build the story around that unifying idea or theme in a way where each verse leads into the chorus naturally- because you already know what the chorus has to say
haha, you'll have to give me a bit more specific of a question! Just respond to this with your more specific question and I'll be happy to try to help!
Actually all i hear is 'shit'. Its never worth spending time here,,, always beating around the bush till the end,,not talk about the exact point..but boring story of pilot, barber, cobler,etc.. Be specific and hit the point man, you r not talking about song as a story and how to be a good story teller, writer, instead you r going far away from what actually is songwriting and what exactly is the verse.. Im sorry if I've offended you, im being honest..

When it comes to the success of a good song, it is not about the message it is about the messenger.
Great channel... Thanks for all the help
Using the TV show analogy really helped me capture exactly what you were saying in this. Good work
Glad it helped! I appreciate the kind words, Matthew!
I love this channel, there are not many channels I feel that are going this in-depth about songwriting, thank you.
I appreciate the kind words! I'm glad you find it helpful!
I could've used a concrete example. The information is great, but was a little too general.
Great information again! Dig your sense of humor and delivery. Thanks for making the effort. Has really helped my songwriting.

Thanks broski. Music is definitely a passion of mine.

All true. There is more time though throughout a pilot. 45 mins vs 5in song😮

Could’ve used examples of verses that can catch the audiences attention. Great perspectives but not enough context to gain from this lesson.
You reminded me of Aaron from the show Emmerdale similar face expression and body movment. I liked the examples you give us to make us understand 👌
Haha, I appreciate the kind words, glad it helped! I had to look up who you're talking about to figure out if I should be insulted, haha.

Do you need a courses on a song to make it good
Sir please tell if you have a chorus first then how to create a story for a song
Chorus first gives the unifying idea or theme, so then you can build the story around that unifying idea or theme in a way where each verse leads into the chorus naturally- because you already know what the chorus has to say
