Had a Meyers Manx years back my dad bought for me to work on as a kid first project, and use it for hunting, it had the 36hp 1300cc in 63 pan so I'm assuming the motor was original to the pan. When we bough it the car came with a box of parts, found out later they were Okrasa intake manifolds, but no heads, or carbs. Was metal flake purple gel coated had the Chevy wheel adapters, and smoothies on it....
sounds like a great way to start your internal combustion journey!
I really like to see when Chip gets really excited about a project like this. Our early dealings with companies like Meyers and Empi started in the late sixties and shortening our own VW chassis'. We did bugspray manifolds and carbs, wild cams, big bore kits and bugspray stinger exhausts. We got a custom cam grinder in Alabama to 'weld and grind' some really great cams. With all that is available today, you realize we must be 'in heaven;'!!!

So, is the basic chassis taken from an old VW or is this a brand new stamping?

Most of that EMPI crap will guarantee a longer build time, to sort out all of the fitment issues, or a much shorter run time, to sort out all of the failures.
nope sorry you are incorrect, please note that builders around the world use off the shelf EMPI parts everyday to build winning racecars, showcars and keep everyday street cars on the road

Yes, as one of the remaining few resources of aftermarket suppliers for vintage VWs, you are guaranteed to sell a bunch of parts, especially to the new people in the hobby.
Many of the parts are of poor quality and/or poor workmanship.
For example, your urethane steering couplers & engine mounts are well known hazards, so much so, that their use is regularly admonished in VW forums.
@@wanderingdubhead8802 if you have an issue with an EMPI part please send details and a picture of the issue to tech@empius.com and if EMPI parts can help Blake Wilkey start and finish 50 Class 11 races and Chip Foose chose EMPI to build (2) brand new Meyers Manx buggies then you may have an outdated perspective on where EMPI is today
