    I toubleshot a fuel gauge reading problem in my 1949 Chevy 3100 truck & determined the problem lay in the fuel tank sending unit.
    I subsequently ordered & received a replacement and install & test it in this episode.

      I retired from my Corn Maze career but I'm about to get into our local ball field grounds crew profession. Still wondering how I got talked into that, LOL.

    Thanks for making this video Dave , glad it all worked out well and the gauge is working like it should. It gives me inspiration. I can relate with my 55.1 .. it’s all new from tank,sending unit,gauge and wiring with 12v upgrade also. Yet it still reads less than 1/2 a tank when full. When it warms up I’m going to dig into this like you shown on your previous video for troubleshooting the issue. I truly appreciate the time you took to show how to troubleshoot this problem without climbing under the dash. I see your wiring has the ground in the harness. Mine only had 1 wire to the tank from the gauge.So I ran a separate ground from the sender to the frame . Still no difference. I really want to get this sorted out when it warms up here in Wisconsin .

    Hey Dave, glad you got the mystery of the sending unit figured out.. That's aggravating when the shoppers mess up like that.. I sent my son a tool kit and UPS delivered it to the house about 3 doors down.. He finally got it about a week later.. First time he tried the brand new Craftsman 3/8 ratchet, it broke... Craftsman just doesn't make tools the way they used to.. Dave you take care my friend and stay warm.. Speaking of warm, how does the heater on the 49 work? Keep us posted....

      Hey Gary. Agree on the new Craftsman tools, they ain't what they used to be... Oh and the heater works great. A Fresh air heater is more controllable than a recirc temp wise..

    Dave I notice so may guys relocate the fuel tank to under the bed. Looking at this video do you think moving the fuel tank from the stock location would allow you to move a seat back further? It really doesn’t seem to take up much space in this video. Thanks

    • @Volfandt
      @Volfandt  Рік тому

      Good question. The stock bench seat hit's a stop before it makes contact with the fuel tank so even with the tank removed the stock seat won't go back any further. But if you remove the tank & replace the seats and reposition the mounts back further you'll definitely get more legroom. I find the stock seating position to fit me fine so I retained the tank in it's stock location. I can see where someone thats bigger and/or goes with bigger seats might want to relocate the tank and change the seating position.
      Have a good 'un.
