Hele | A Tagalog Lullaby | Himig Himbing: Mga Heleng Atin

Hele is a lullaby from a 1986 field recording of Dr. Elena Mirano taken in San Mateo, Rizal. The Tagalog song is sung by a caretaker to a child, with lyrics alluding to an afternoon nap.
The music video tells the story of a family’s happiness and sadness, surviving a tragedy through love and a beautiful melody tying them together.
Based on Dr. Elena Rivera Mirano’s field research from San Mateo, Rizal and deposited in the UP Center for Ethnomusicology.
