You answered many questions that I had, ours is on order 3 months out. looking forward to using it. Thanks
I think they did not add a phone or tablet holder so you concentrate on the work out you are performing so you get the best work out possible. My guess anyway.
A smart trainer or smart bike does more - and the Peleton subscription cost half as much if you don’t own their so-so spin bike. The only thing you give up is the leader board which I found to be a bore when I used the Peleton bikes my gym had. When gyms were open.
I do like the Peleton content and am sometimes willing to pay for it.
Error at 4:38 (“The bike comes with SPD pedals”). Wrong. The bike comes with Look Delta pedals.
You are correct. Thanks for the correction. I don’t know why or where SPD came from. I don’t even own any SPD pedals 🤷🏻♂️
What do you think about ZCycle Zbike? Can you test her?
I’m considering it but space is an issue.
Ordered mine mid November and I expect it around Jan 15th. Long wait but I’m so excited.
Awesome... they seem to be a little behind with supply but it will be here before you know it. Enjoy your new bike!
Thanks for the review. My Peleton+ is due in a few weeks so the tips about the screen turn and auto follow were useful.
I traded in my first bike and got the new bike+ and I really like it much better
What do you like most about it?
Great quick over view. Excited to hear you will be doing more Peloton stuff. I have been doing power zone classes now for over 2 years and us this bike as my training bike for my outdoor racing.
Good review. Did you say the Plus now has SPD pedals. I’ve not ordered it yet, my plan was to swap out the pedals from Delta to SPD.
This will give me flexibility in choosing a shoe rather than a road shoe.
Nope, that was a mistake on my part in the video. It still comes with delta pedals.
You stated that the bike came with SPD pedals. Is that a change from the Look Delta pedals on the original bike?
I miss spoke there. They still come with Look Delta pedals.
The reviews are always simple and easy to understand . Thanx
Must be nice to have a dedicated indoor bike. It is expensive I would say though. What would the other standard be to have this vs a kicker with a alu bike on it ? Comes to the same price one would guess. Then again there are perhaps people that like to attend spin classes
Having a dedicated indoor bike comes down to preference and convenience. Also, the Peloton bike is more integrated with their app than just using the stand alone app with a regular bike.
My Peloton bike + is arriving in two days. Is there support to setting the seat height and distance?
When you activate the bike, it will walk you through how to setup the seat height and all the different configurations.
Is the Peloton a SMART trainer or is the change in resistance all in the resistance knob? Do you have an opinion on Peloton vs Bowflex C6 Bike (about half the price)? I can't seem to confirm that the Bowflex is in fact a SMART stationary bike like my Saris H3. I would be using the stationary bike specifically for Zwift and how it compares to the Saris S3 would determine whether I would buy either one of these options.
The Peloton is smart but depending on your definition of smart, it might not be as smart as you wanted to. It’s a closed system so it won’t communicate with other apps such as Zwift. There are some hacks where you can download Zwift into your peloton but it won’t interact with Zwift like a Saris H3 or a Kickr. It will measure power and cadence and only interact with resistance based peloton classes not power zone. Hope that helps. Let me know if you have other questions.
@@SmartBikeTrainers thanks that's perfect!!! You're definitely right, that is not as smart as I would like. I just noticed there is a Wahoo KICKR stationary bike while watching one of your other videos. It's super expensive so I'll probably wait and see if more competition entering the market might effect the price and stick with my Saris H3. Cheers!
I bought the kickr bike after looking at this bike. As a longtime cyclist it would not be what I want a actual bike ride that helps me maintain fitness during winter weather.
The Kickr bike will give you more riding and training options than the Peloton. Hopefully you are enjoying your KICKR.
You can still use the bike without a membership but you you're left with just free-ride mode that displays only real-time data on the screen, with no leaderboard or any record of your efforts. If you don’t plan on paying for a membership, you might be better off getting something else.
MDX I am not a spin bike person. I have been riding bikes for too many years. I wanted a smart bike that would give me the closest feeling to riding outdoors as possible. That is what the Kickr bike gives me. With zwift and the other smart trainer app’s you get a more interesting experience. I have tried the Peloton bike and it just was not what I wanted
I've had a Peloton for almost 3 years. I was compensated 2 years extra warranty for free - plus 7 months of free membership. My current bike (bike #6 based on bike swaps) is getting an overhaul for free - new bearings kit (they don't last past 5K miles and I do that in one year easy) and a new crank set. That being said - I am seriously looking at replacing the Peloton with the Kickr bike. Just waiting for the warranty to expire. I talked with Peloton hardware/software tech leads - the new bike does get rid of the issues I've faced - but I am not sold on their ability to deliver quality service. It's been pretty bad.
Will the bike last for 2-4 years without any maintenance issues?
Depends on how you use it and maintain it. The bike looks solid and should last you years of heavy use. But just like anything with mechanical parts, it might require maintenance at some point.
I personally guarantee maintenance issues. I've owned a Peloton for almost 3 years. Trust me - I know. I am a heavy user of the bike (but a lightweight kind of guy) and there's no way as a Peloton owner I can vouch for minimal maintenance. Their ability to support is chaotic. I've had six bike swaps. SIX. All documented. Bearings on the V2 bike blow after 5K miles tops. I can do that in one year of spin easy. Getting one final overhaul on this bike this month. Warranty expires in February 2021. Oh - they compensated me 2 years extra parts/labor warranty and gave me 7 months of subscription service for free - but that doesn't compensate me for all of the issues - meaning - I'd rather have minimal maintenance than the comp. Oh don't get their shoes either - the studs that hold the Deltas will crack after a few sweaty rides. They have great design ideas - but they can't execute worth a lick. All smoke and mirrors.
I had the original bike for two years and put 9.200 miles on it. Never an issue.
SMART Bike Trainers I own a stationary bike purchased new for $300 and it's bulletproof mechanically. From reading forums of Peleton customers, their bikes have a history of bad maintenance.
As a reference point. I’ve had mine for 4 years and have had zero maintenance required. I have 700+ rides. I have heard bearings require replacement at about this level of usage, but so far, so good.
Is the training load variation based on a preliminary test similar to Sufferfest or Trainer Road?
The Zone specific workouts are based on your FTP which if you know what it is, you can enter it in your profile. These workouts are somewhat similar to The Sufferfest, TrainerRoad and others.
The instructor will guide you through the zones you should be in for each interval.
When you change the resistance on your bike+ is it loud? Where the magnet is.
It’s actually very quiet.
thank you for the video. where do you live and when did you order? 😎 and what package did your order? does it come with a bike mat?
Ordered the basic package right when the bike was available to order back in December. The basic package doesn’t come with weights or a mat.
If you have a friend with a referral code you will get $100 off of any accessories (like the bike mat) when you purchase the bike or tread. I would be happy to share my code with you.
Can u link Zwift to the Bike + ???
There is no direct way to do this but some work arounds exist.
Wait, the Bike+ doesn't have a built-in power meter?
The bike itself measures power via measuring the torque on the drivetrain and display power and cadence. But to my knowledge, it doesn’t have a strain gauge like a dedicated power meter. It’s power measurements has been decent per my initial tests.
@@SmartBikeTrainers In this case, how/where are measuring the torque on the drivetrain?
Do you notice more of a shake to the handle bars/screen when riding fast or hard? My bike+ feels more wobbly than the original bike, which is a bit distracting. Any tips to fixing that?
I didn’t notice any wobble. I would check the two small wheels on the front legs and see if they are leveled.
Not sure If you resolved your issue with the shaking screen but yesterday I noticed the handlebar and monitor were shaking more than usual. There is a screw right below the handlebar that was loose. After tightening it, everything was back to normal. Hope this helps.
@@SmartBikeTrainers Thanks for the follow up! I'll look into that.
@@JennaBechtholt did this fix it for you? I want to order this bike but the wobble was my primary concern after test riding it. I ride mostly out of the saddle.
@@kendraperry7128 To be honest, everything is tightened but my handlebars do tend to move more than the original bike when riding really fast and if I'm going really hard out of the saddle. I've gotten more used to it now, but it was distracting for sure for the first week or so. The ability to move my screen, the apple watch integration, and auto follow are worth the somewhat shaky handlebar/screen situation for me though!
Great video, however have to wait till feb 2021 for mine.
