About Shapez.io:
shapez.io is a game about building factories to automate the creation and combination of shapes. Deliver the requested, increasingly complex shapes to progress within the game and unlock upgrades to speed up your factory.
Since the demand raises you will have to scale up your factory to fit the needs - Don't forget about resources though, you will have to expand in the infinite map!
Since shapes can get boring soon you need to mix colors and paint your shapes with it - Combine red, green and blue color resources to produce different colors and paint shapes with it to satisfy the demand.

There's an old engineer's saying. "There isn't anything more permanent than a temporary solution" and I think this playthrough will hold this true.
Want spoilers?
@@KatherineOfSky means hight level no easy and old method to use. everything need redesign it and more complicate for a huge mount of numbers, blueprint points number, very low origin circle, windmill shape source, you need more mount to cut rotate and recombine. after level 17 you need some trip to level combine the shape
@@MeariBamu I have no idea what you are talking about. It doesn't relate to what I asked the OP, nor does it relate to what the OP said. I'm at level 18 already in my playthrough...
@@KatherineOfSky hahaha
The missing red inputs in the white mixer was/is driving me nuts!
Including checking why blue shapes were backing up and still not seeing those missing red inputs :)
I’ve been making ridiculous noises at the screen. lol
@@erikhawkins5229 9 Minutes in: (cough) upgrade.. upgrade!. UpGrade!!... UPGrade!!!.... UPGRADE !!!!1!!!!!one!!!!
Do you think blueprints might have helped? ;)
I love how KoS is like, "this is a temporary mess, we'll do it properly when we make the factory," and when I do it, it's like, "It's backing up behind the machines, but it's delivering the right stuff to the hub. Close enough! Next goal!"
You guys are an inspiration. I am like: I don't know what I am doing, maybe if I start over (again) I can figure it out *deletes game*
Is here no one talking about the wrong belt direction in the quarter circle production underneath the hub?
Your words are out of order too
i came to the comments just because of that
its not easy to find out when you play the game for the first time and the different upgrades are at different levels, but the ratios for a full belt for each of the machines (when all of the upgrades are equal) are:
belt : miner : cutter : stacker : mixer : painter
1 : 5 : 4 : 6 : 5 : 6
I just use arrays of 8 because they almost always give a full belt and it's faster to build bigger arrays than to do the math. That gave me a good reason to develop paint mixers that are 2 wide and 9 deep instead of 4 wide and 5 deep. It's only a little bit less acreage, but I can fit a 16*9 block in better than a 32*5 block.
(Belt, Compact balancer
Belt, Painter
underground exit, painter
empty, painter
Balancer, belt
Balancer, belt
underground entrance, empty
Balancer, belt
balancer, belt)
2 color mixers tile on a 4*7 equivalent with color coming in on two different belts, and I think stackers have to be 8 or 9 deep to respect the handedness constraint. For now I'm just using two color mixers for white.
Especially considering she missed the painting / mixing upgrade was available 9 minutes into the video, the constant wondering about ratios was driving me insane. Other videos about this was people constantly figuring out how cutters cut (the quad cutter, that is). Just: figure it out once and never wonder again.
Nice
I personally really like the way they handle blueprint costs. I'm super a fan of giving specific shapes actual purpose and value.
I like it too!
2 belts missing on the red input at the front of white mixer, one reversed belt on the quarter circle production area under the base
Thanks for playing a game that will make my family see me less...and for £2.89 it's a bargain!!
I really enjoy watching you play and listen to your calm heartwarming voice. Cheers!
Thank you so much!
KatherineOfSky ✌️❤️
There is an option in settings for buildings to be selected after placing them. I find it useful since you almost always need shift when building stuff
Holding shift while placing belt allows you to quickly draw a line of where you want the belt to go.
Machine outputs can go strait into inputs so you can put combiners and stackers right next to each other.
As long as you have a full belt going in and a full belt going out the setup is fine.
What a smashing game! I got it two days ago and now my eyes are red circles with cyan stars on top!...lol I'm loving this series so keep going please. :D
hahaha! Loved that description!
Try shift for placing belts. It becomes like factorio rail ghosts
I'm obsessed with this playthrough.
Fun game. I got to Level 10 before FPS dropped to below 10 with my antique video card. "Someday" when I have a stronger PC I'll come back and finish this game.
In my first play-through my base started getting very laggy around level 12 or so. As I was learning and figuring out how to make the shapes my base ended up being a bit of spaghetti, heh. Some of the newer updates have improved the game performance, though.
try the web version, you might have good fps there.
Its a demo btw but afaik it only limit on levels. Around level 30 I think
Video card shouldn't be the limiting factor, RAM size and speed might be.
I think the bottleneck on the blueprint shapes are the rotators (8 per second) that can't match the belts (12 per second). Might wanna put a splitter so you can use 2 rotators for the belt and then just merge them again.
I've tried this before. Can't wait to watch you play it again!
Honestly i feel like these games grow amazing into greater games than before this kind of reminds me a lot of if factorio mixed with mindustry. This genre always perplexes me of whats to come and i absolutely love it.
Straight from unlocking copy-paste into instant copy-paste error. Classic :D
hahaha
There's just something *so* satisfying with this game.
Only when this playthrough began I realised how much I missed your Factorio videos. This game is very satisfying to watch too, thank you for playing it. Can't wait for the next part!
Thank you so much!
Bought this after your videos and lost an evening last night. I make slightly less spaghetti in this game than satisfactory. The game progression is very well done and the complexity from a simple start is amazing.
Ok I just discovered your channel and I am SO HAPPY I DID THANK YOU SO MUCH KOS
Welcome!!!
Hey KoS, I think you should give the chain-extractors a second chance to interface with the belts. You used normal extractors to test that functionality!
Dang you are soothing for headaches and easy to fall asleep to (the second one is ment as a compliment I felt like I should add these parentheses because I have had some people think it was a insult)
Thank you
I got to chain extractors at 2 am last night. Ran into graphical glitches along the way that I got around by jiggling the color blind setting. I didn't think I would be willing to do this much work for shapes and colors.
Also did a sushi belt (not a loop, just threw a bunch of stuff onto one belt) out of sheer laziness.
I have not had any issues at all with graphics or any sorts of bugs at all. Have you made sure your graphics card drivers are up to date?
M Murase - You have sinned! Go repent my son...
@@KatherineOfSky It could be a heat issue, I am running it on a potato PC.
Just want to let you know that you're the reason why I've bought this game and played it for the last 10 hours. I love it so far, but I HATE how slow painting is, I wish it was a bit quicker.
Keep up the awesome videos!
I think the intended gameplay is to add more painting machines. E.g. every process has its own speed relative to other machines, and the dev wants us to kinda mix it up and try different combinations of machines.
@@KatherineOfSky That makes sense, I guess I'm just being impatient as usual. I can't wait to see what the dev has in mind for the future, I'm hoping that we get Steam Workshop support eventually!
I have a hard time getting over it when you point at something that has a mistake, say "it's working, great" and then move on haha. I'm like noooooo don't you see that half of them are completely stopped?? Hahaha
I love it when you love all the things and all the stuff.
hahaha!

I felt so bad hearing her say she hoped that was the last she'd have to deal with colours before blueprints, not realising the circles were white and not grey.
I just discovered this game and I'm hooked. I love experimenting!!!! Thanks for the video also :)
Have fun!
Thank you for highlighting this, played it all day(and night) yesterday, got max lvl and cleared everything XD.
The last shape sure is interesting. Even thought it was impossible for a while :D
Enjoy!
Ah man, this walkthrough helped me with the issue, that I actually wanted to create this RuCuCuCu with cut and combine pieces from rectangle and squares myself
Yes! More shapez!!!
Relatable.
Just in case you didn't know already: If you don't like having to hold shift when placing multiple objects and prefer the way factorio does it, you can turn it off in the settings.
if it helps, you can put the color mixer output directly into another color mixer. (ie, run 3 input lines into a double-stacked color mixer.) it's like what you have, but without the visible yellow line running from one mixer to the next.
"welcome back to shapes io. I love this game, I don't know what it is..."
It's factorio.
"it's so fun and unique"
It's factorio.
It's a tiiiiiiiny bit different than Factorio ;-)
Factorio looks ugly, though.
@@JasperJanssen Factorio looks amazing!
The gameplay is really enjoyable so far, and the soundtrack is giving me throwback to Dr. Mario vibes :)
@3:49 you draw a belt backwards in the quarter-circle maker. The second build from the bottom. The belt from the CCW rotater to the cutter is running backwards.
I was stumped on level 12 for so much time, thanks! :D
its a nice timeconsumer. I'm already Level 19 and thinking about a Mainbus with the standart shapes where i can just grab them and make the new form :-)And ti give some tips. If you have something in the hand and click Q in an empty area you clear your hand. If you hover over and item and click Q you get the item you was hovering over in the hand.
I recorded this prior to that change ;-) My playthrough is also at level 19 atm :-)
Upgrades keep all the same shapes until they get to tier 6 and at that point all the shapes used before are no longer used and it restarts with a single shape. And then at that point it adds a new shape per tier.
(the starting shape for tier 6 of belts IS the icon for Shapez.io)
Actually, it doesn't. It refuses to let you have a further tier.
@@NoLongerBreathedIn you may have accidentally forgotten that you were playing the demo version instead of the one that kicks a few bucks to the developer.
@@JasperJanssen No, actually, that was all versions back when I posted.
Your videos are great. You have the perfect voice for it!
Thank you! 😃
I'm imagining a main bus with all the colours and all the basic shapes. It would be glorious.
Go for it!
Bought the game yesterday. It’s so addictive
It is!
I want a shirt that says "I Remember Pyanadon"
Can not wait for the 9 hour long video trying to figure out Tier 6 shapes. Or maybe that was just me being ignorant for an entire day.
It didn't take me quite that long ;-)
I bought this because of you, Hope you are happy, because I am! Thank you!
Hope you enjoy it!
First 4 hours just flew by when I was playing! I reckon this game is one awesome timesink :D
Think I'm going to dream of you saying blueprints over and over 😂😂
hahahaha
I didn't even realise that I could have mined that shape.
My overcomplicating self decided to make it from scratch, lol
I find it really fun to overcomplicate things on occasion, e.g. construct circles because there aren't any nearby. It' so nice that the game can be played in so many idfferent ways.
same lol
rip those two yellow lines...
Instead of changing everything, you could have made the yellow hue to go underground
I love watching stuff like this. but it also drives me insane when I spot unconnected machine that the player misses even though it is constantly on the scream. Case in point, I am hoarse from screaming at the monitor about the two rightmost mixers.
You might stop the screaming, since I can assure you that the presenter does not hear you. And while it is on screen, the presenter has a LOT of things on her mind. Congratulations to you for never missing a single thing you games! Gold medal, hurrah!
@@KatherineOfSky hey. I think you may have taken my comment more seriously then I intended. Sorry for that. I do enjoy your videos..
I cant Wait to See you male tur final shape, im almost finish with tur game 😁
in the start you made a belt backwards twice and fixed one.
Go KoS, you are amazing, please continue these videos, and can you convince the dev to drop some keys?
Glad you are enjoying the videos!
Aven is a wise man.
I so love this game! So amazingly fun! :D
For anyone reading this without having watched the whole video... this set of screenshots from my first play-through are spoilers, This is just how I figured out how to assemble the shapes to unlock level 12. My whole base was a lot of spaghetti as I learned things. :)
My solutions:

randomer.net/stuff/shapez-pasta-2.png
randomer.net/stuff/shapez-pasta-3.png

That's a really interesting paint array. How do you handle getting multiple double belts into the hub without running out of input slots?
@@danpowell806 I cut off the belts from factories that have made enough of whichever shape at that point but keep the factories around and reuse belts for new shapes. Here's the newer design, higher-level painter array from that play-through (same spoiler alert as before):

And a lower level painter from another playthrough:
randomer.net/stuff/shapez-lower-painter.png
@KOS loving it so far, when you gonna make a mall?:P, oh and a Bus?
Nope! Since I am making a full belt of each product, I see no reason to use split-offs, which is the point of a bus system.
@@KatherineOfSky I can see the bus - "I need 4 lanes of circles, 3 of squares, I think 2 of each color should be ok. Here, we split off for the first subfactory, the green circuits, er, circles." Too many hours of Factorio.
Oh no, I’ve finally noticed the tabs...
I cannot disregard the fact the Blue and Yellow make a Green everytime I painted in Art Class. Then in Sharpz its White, my entire life is a lie.
hahaha
Nice base. Blueprints are great. Spoiler for tier VI from my base: i.imgur.com/lTM12F0.png
You have to unlock Chain Miners still.
You do realize that this video is many years old, right?
@@KatherineOfSky Nope I didn't pay attention to when it was posted. I'm a fan of your factorio videos and I've recently got into the shapez game so when I came across you doing videos on it I just started watching them. I'll pay attention to when a video is posted more often.
aaaaa, it's like half an hour into the episode and you still haven't connected the red colors to the white color makers D:
Also, I wonder how long until you get people spamming you for your blueprint designs! I haven't gotten that far in the game yet, but do the blueprints work the same way they do in Factorio?
They are not shareable, if that's what you mean. They function like the basic copy/paste in Factorio.
@@KatherineOfSky Okay, that's what I was wondering. At least you don't have to worry about people begging you for blueprints, LOL.
haha
Your videos are great but you need to understand that green is not a primary color. It is however one of the 3 colors that are eyes have "cones" for. The three cones are blue red and green and these three cones allow us to see all color. The game uses the same rules as these cones to make colors which is why green and blue simply make a lighter blue. Most animals have less cones and therefore cannot see the colors we can. Some have more which makes things like rainbows vibrant and more beautiful and colorful then we could possible understand with our basic eyes. The primary colors are blue red and yellow. The reason that mixing one of the base colors with a color you need to mix to get like yellow is because white light is actually all colors but when it hits our eyes it combines to make white thanks to our cones. Since yellow already has red and green, when blue is added it makes white light.
Edit: If you want a better and more interesting explanation, google "Radiolab colors."
I think you might be mixing up different color systems and also the definitions of words. In this game, we are using an RGB system, which is the representation for mixing colors of LIGHT. Red, green, and blue are the Primary colors in this system by multiple definitions: first, as the base colors for mixing all other colors, and second, as the foremost components in this system. While your paragraph is interesting, it doesn't relate at all to the game.
Silly KoS you didn't connect two of the painters in your white paint mixing array
I was wondering if anyone else notice that! (Only pulled out a few hairs every time she scrolled past them.)
Happens more often that you think. There are also some issues with blueprint pasting that sometimes mess up belts. The devs keep trying to fix it though.
I absolutely love this game but I keep finding myself waiting forever for my shapes to come in...I don't think I'm very good at being efficient.
Shapez is like Factorio in that there's no waiting needed: if you find yourself "waiting", build more production! Over time, you'll figure out more efficient ways to do stuff and things will be zooming along! :-)
@@KatherineOfSky appreciate the pep talk!
Niiice game
ah yes blue plus yellow makes white *yes i see no problem here*
There's no issue since we are adding colors of light together...
@@KatherineOfSky i wasnt trying to say something rude i just found it funny you mix red and green to make yellow and mix the yellow you made from green with blue to make white, thats the game system so its fine its just funny to me
@@calibursatsujin3112 Adding those colors of light together makes while light. It's not funny, it's real world physics :-)
@@KatherineOfSky I meant that it treats them as paint not light, maybe I missed something but just adding green and red PAINT doesn't do that but you DO know more about the game than me so sorry if I was wrong
why is it that YTbers almost never take a good look in the keybindings? You have a pipet that is under Q so you dont have to go to the bar everytime you need something...
It will even take the rotation it is in for you right away.
half of your original 4 white dye makers aren't connected.
not all of your yellow making machines are connected
I made the 1001th like! :-D :-D :-D Hehehe
