One of the things that I've always found fascinating is the number of Majority Text aligned people that are willing to release a significant portion of their work on the text to the public domain. I don't know why that is, I don't know what it proves, and I don't know if this is something we should strive for, but it is something I find fascinating.

I am a big fan of the WEB. I love the acronym as well. I really appreciate this chat you are having and look forward to the rest of the series. Thank you both.

I’ve been reading the WEB translation for days and man! It’s so READABLE. And accurate! Love the nuances.
I pray someone prints a good copy of this translation so I don’t have to keep reading it digitally.
Also, I love the heart behind this project.

Thanks for standing up for the Majority Text, and I will be using WEB more. Also, I dislike the way copyright laws have been used.

    Thanks for the interview.
My wife introduced me to this translation. It won't beat the KJV for me, even though it has a more complete Apocrypha. I think it needs more public attention and that we will regret using copyrighted translations.
I also wish that people were as tolerant of its flaws (and they are definitely there) as they are in other translations that have the big marketing to make up for them.

The KJV is actually Copyright protected in the UK. Our pastor lived in the UK for a year and the KJV is Copyright of the Realm, under Royal patent! He said the monarchy does not die, so nor does the copyright, meaning the KJV cannot be copied, published sold or altered in the UK, without permission...

@@ankyspon1701 I didn't really think about that, but it wouldn't affect me here much. It's another reason I'm glad I'm not in the UK :)

Thanks for the video. Always a pleasure. I am not a fan of the WEB, but you always make the videos interesting. The new studio is looking good. God's best Pastor.

I got the 'World English Bible" New Testament-Psalms-and-Proverbs a few years ago and read it with interest. It is a revision of the American Standard Bible (1901), and so it is a bit wooden in its translation and lacks the smoothness of the AV (1611) and NKJV (1982-5); but it was good to read the Majority Text as the main text in the New Testament. What struck me about it was how close it is to the Textus Receptus and almost not worth assembling as something separate from it. But we do need a Majority Text NT nonetheless, because of the ongoing controversy, and one has come out, with critical footnotes too: 'The Text-Critical English New Testament: Byzantine Text Version", 2021, by Robert Adam Boyd. It gives variations within the Byzantine Text-Form and also variants from other Critical Printed Texts such as Nestle-Aland (27 and 28), Westcott and Hort, Hodges and Farstad's Majority Text, Pickerings Family 35 within the Byz TF, the Tyndale House Greek NT, and the Textus Receptus itself! It could be described as the Nuclear Sub of English New Testaments on steroids! Get it!

I'm aware of Adam's work! He has consulted with us on our Byzantine project. We have a few guys who are working on bringing the Byzantine Textform back in print with an exhaustive apparatus of the major print exitions.

I recently came across the Text-Critical English NT by Adam Boyd and am enjoying reading and studying it. I will now also get the WEB. I couldn’t work out why the underlying text seemed so familiar to me, then realised that I read numerous books by Watchman Nee in my youth, and these used Bible quotes from the American Standard Bible 1901. It’s quite literal, and I think quite readable too, so is a good starting point for these modern translations of the Byzantine-Majority text. I am so grateful for all the hard work being done.

@@alanmunch5779 Another good Bible to get is the Tolle Lege Geneva Bible of 1599: it is exactly the same as the 1599 Bible but is put into modern spelling. You are sure to enjoy both it and its notes, if you have not got one already!

I think the main idea of the WEB, is to provide a Bible which can be freely quoted, copied and distributed without having to pay publishing companies for the rights to do so. Our Pastor worked in the UK where the KJV Bible is still protected by copyright of the Realm, because it was done by the monarchy, which never dies, so neither does the copyright. This prevents those in the UK publishing the KJV with Royal permission, I'm not sure if it's also the case in other countries. As so many Bibles have been produced the WEB allows people all over the world to at least quote the Psalms and Gospels etc without fear of being sued for doing so.

Thanks for these interviews Dwayne! What a gift to have a copyright unrestricted Bible. Besides the WEB, the only other “modern” translation I’m aware of ATM is the NET. And they’re both good for different reasons.

Have you thought about interviewing the author or EMTV? There is a variant in revelation 1:6 where he goes with “kings” over “kingdom” I don’t see any note of a BYZ variant in RP 2005.

In regards to textual basis, it seems to me like using the WEB for the New Testament and the MEV for the Old Testament is the best method of Bible reading for getting the true Majority Text in translation.

So someone could print own version of this bible and tweak parts to their preferred wording And be totally free from any legal issues ?
I was looking at different translations and some things I preferred some over others, or even adding notes to certain parts but in a clean way vs writing all over a bible. I was reading over this version recently and liked it overall but being able to use it as a basis is a cool idea

Jesus Christ, who is God in the flesh, wanted no one to die, so He gave His life so that anyone who believes in Him can have everlasting life.
    Romans 10:9 WEBUS
[9] that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

    First you become a Calvinist
Then by reason no more need for faith and repentance so you assent to infant baptism. Next you ascribe to textual criticism and you start deleting Bible verses like acts 8:37. Then of course comes amillennialism so you spiritualize the Bible and toss out the book of revelations. Next comes covenant theology. Now you can perform same sex marriage, totally dismiss sin and even declare Islam ok. Some how this doesn't appear to be the Way to me.

    • @RevRMBWest

I do not think that genuine followers of John Calvin would be for the absence of faith and repentance or for Homosexual wedlock. They may dislodge Acts 8:37 as an intrusion though, based on the fact that it is not part of the Byzantine Text-Form; but textual criticism is, after all, about trying to find the original text amidst the variants; and Acts 8: 37 is a variant that is not well supported in the majority or mainstream of Greek manuscript transmission. And not all Calvinists are amillennialists: Bishop J.C. Ryle of the 19th-century Church of England was a pre-millennialist. And what is wrong with Covenant Theology: the Covenant of Redemption is referred to from the Book of Genesis to the Book of Revelation and is the grounds for the salvation of all who believe and repent whether you are a Calvinist or an Arminian.
