Amazing, I especially like the line around frame 1.40 " I stared The CAPTAIN in the eyes an he told me that he never seen the FRONTLINE.. Ah ha, A h Ha. This is a 100% true statement as I work with The BRITISH Forces.
Absolutely. No-one does the historical epic song like The Men They Couldn't Hang. They're masters of the art. This is a good step into the same terrirory by the Levs though.
Very cleverly done. compliments the song so well and really helps the story. albeit a sad one. Great work, as usual and the song is quickly becoming one of my all time favourites.
Sadly war can not end but luckily we have come a long way from that off the First World War. Officers fight along side there men these days and they even did back then. I'd be proud to follow the foot steps of my dad and serve in are army.
hi iv been a fan since i was young (im old now) i just thore you shoud know there is glambiling add between your tunes which i dont think you would aprove of ? its just a obsvation sorry about the spelling im dislexi
The song may be based on the 1917 Etaples mutinies in France. Jesse Robert Short was executed for inciting the mutiny, but has subsequently been pardoned.
+ Tina B he is an officer in the military police so it is unlikely he would have seen the front, officers in combat regiments saw just as much action and danger as there men. You've obversely not worked with the british army in combat or even in training as you would know officers are just as much in the action as there men.
the First World War was the last one where the British military had officers who had bought their commissions. Later conflicts saw more professional officers in the fieldm
Hi, I know it has been a while since you posted your comment but I have only just seen it and I have been thinking the same. I've been having a listen and have worked out the chords. They may not be the exact chords as I have just listened and worked the chords out by ear, but this is the way that I play it: Em For us to carry on Em To fight and die as we have done Am With the whips and prayers to face Em the machine guns Em We're a mutiny so they say Em We've gone against the king today Am Em Aha Aha Am As I write to you my love, I'll be gone Em out of all that's dear to me Am For two years now we've fought and Em died for home with bravery Em Now the bulls have pulled me down, Am there's no way out for me Am. @@FranWorthington Thank you fran, this does help, the way i play it is very similar to your chords except i play Am, Em, C, Am, Em, C. , Em, C, Am, Em ,Em, Am ,C on the pre chorus, With Cappo on second fret. BIG THANKS for taking the time to write out the chords Good stuff Cheers Mate ✌🎸 on the pre chorus
The subject matter & sentiment is similar, but - much as I LOVE the Levs - I think The Colours is better: an uplifting, rousing and persistently memorable anthem....
I play the Captain in this video! Rich did an amazing job, as did everyone involved. Glad it's received so much positive feedback!
The one shouting fire?
Really glad to be a part of this video (I'm the smiling guy in the firing squad). Great track!
Reminded me of Blackadder
From my ex army bloke, you're really convincing. He met people like your character.
This is my favourite song from Static on the Airwaves and the video only serves to enhance that - brilliant work. Really moving.

You obviously know nothing about Officers in the front line. Read a little history and see the life expectancy of Subalterns in WW1.

Yeah got to agree there.

My daughters favourite
Turn it Up
Similar song to "The Colours" by The Men They Couldn't Hang. And I mean that as a compliment, as they're both great songs.

I there is a story this is based on, I'd like to know where I can read about it. Great video & song! Keep it up!

on the pre chorus
Your welcome, glad it helped. Your chords for the pre-chorus work better, so I'll try using those next time I play the song. Thanks! 👍🎸😁

Dnt know that one
Can’t hear it. Wtf?
