John I hope you’re fine. You’re such an amazing person. I really learn a lot from you. Thanks for teaching young men as myself how to cook and bake. You really make learning how to cook an enjoyable experience
This brings me such special memories. I would have lady fingers with tea with my aunt. It was a special treat over fifty years ago. I can’t wait to make them for myself again ❤
How on earth is that microphone picking your speech up while the mixer is whirring. Real life ears aren't even that good :O
It's a directional mic. Picks up what it's pointing much more strongly than the other direction.
Can’t wait to try this! I love that the batter allows them to have structure. The classic recipes tend to spread out almost flat when you pipe
My younger sister is craving Tiramisu, I've never make it in my life. Your recipe and method looks beginner friendly and your instructions are clear and easy to understand. I'm definitely trying this!!. And subscribing to your channel as well!

Very personal request: can you make nougat? I've made cheater nougat with white chocolate and marshmallows. It was pretty good but my technique wasn't great.
Is the amount of lady fingers in this recipe suitable for your terimesu?
Ingredients
▢ 3 large eggs separated ▢ ½ cup granulated sugar divided (100g) ▢ ½ teaspoon vanilla extract ▢ ¼ teaspoon salt ▢ 1 cup all-purpose flour (120g) ▢ 5 teaspoons cornstarch ▢ powdered sugar for dusting
3:37 You say that and I'm thinking of some "new" ingredients we have and that people are wary of of like MSG, Xanthan gum, guar gum. I am pretty sure that when baking powder was introduced people screamed at this unnatural thing that makes your baked goods rise. Like what kind of sorcery is that;I didn't see the volume going in the oven but now it rose?
Could we use baking powder to take all the work out of beating two batches of eggs?
Any replacement for eggs?
That would be awesome with hot chocolate and whipped cream
Can milk be added to it
I always think about how hard it was back in the day to whisk things 😅
Can this recipe be doubled? Or should you make two separate batches?
Try lemon zest instead of vanilla😊
Hey John just checking in to say hello.

could we get a recipe for eggless lady fingers 🫶🏻
Could use mayonnaise, but then again mayo has eggs and oil so...😅
@@geminisabah you get eggless mayo also but i doubt that will work 🤔
Really, if anyone is only making these for tiramisu, please check out the “IL Fornaio Baking Book” by Franco Galli, his recipe for tiramisu uses cake layers (a “Torta Maddalena“) you slice into layers instead of ladyfingers, it’s an egg yolk rich type layer able to soak up the espresso, sweet Marsala and dark rum with ease without getting soggy, yet remaining light, tasty and fresh and since it forms the whole layers, the dessert turns out more even. I think It’s by far not only the very, very best homemade recipe, it’s sincerely the best tiramisu I’ve ever had in my life…
also, since the point of this exercise is not to get the bubbles out of egg whites while doing all this, why not add flour to egg yolks, using the mixer, to make sure there are no lumps of flour remaining, and then fold the egg whites into that. yes, this is going to be even thicker component than just egg yolks alone, but it will also mean less "folding", less loss of bubbles, no flour lumps, I mean, I can't think of a single reason to to do whites into yolks, and then flour into that?
also, since we don't want to loos bubbles, what happens when this batter goes into piping bag and gets squeezed out? would that pop most of the bubbles?
Early! Thx for the recipe
You're so welcome!
@@PreppyKitchen thx for the reply!
Hello John 👋
How many of these lady fingers do u use for ur recipe?
Can anyone help me out cause I tried this recipe but it didn't turn out like that but mostly flat like a cookie and when I pipe it the texture is kinda like a cookie batter. Please help a beginner out. Thank Youu 😊
How to store them?
❤❤
Does this really make 30 servings... I got like 10 out of it.
"I would not have liked to make these in the 15th century, whisking by hand would be crazy!"
me, who doesn't own a hand mixer just one whisk: 😢😢😢
I really really struggle with piping them, some of mine are very lumpy due to different amount of batter, I did your online recipe and only came out with 13 instead of 30 and I feel so ashamed
Early! Love your recipes! ❤
Ingredients:
3 egg yolks
3 egg whites
1/2 cup of sugar (divided in 2)
Vanilla
1 cup flour
5 tea spoons cornstarch
Powder sugar for dusting
13-15 minutes in 350°
Thank you very much ❤❤
Top and bottom rod is on
Can’t wait to make my own Tiramisu from scratch!!!
Sounds like a plan for Easter .. do you think a little girl would like it, or is it too adult of a dessert for a seven year old?
@@SundaysChild1966 shes definately gonna like it :)
@@SundaysChild1966 My one/two year old couldn't get enough of it!
His Tiramisu recipe is divine!
@@SundaysChild1966 I think she would, thats about the age I was first time I had it.
I made these today and they came out so good thank you so much! I was scared I would overwork the batter but I didn’t. My family had just bought ones from the store but they were so much more impressed with these.
I love to use lady fingers on the bottom with strawberries and whipped cream on top!!! Thank you for sharing your recipe with us!!! Now I can make mine from scratch with my strawberries and whipped cream!!! God Bless!!!
Very nice recipie John! They looks amazing! For sure the homemade is better! Have a nice day! 👍👏🍴
I used to make tiramisu for my kids, and always had a hard time finding lady fingers. I had no idea that they were so easy to make. Now, I can't wait to make tiramisu for my grandkids.❤
