Every group needs a friend with chaotic-energy like Devon gives. I hope he didn't feel bad for all the comments attacking him. There are a lot of playthrough with bit of serious/straightforward gaming in other channels already, which is boring IMO. I'd rather play the game myself or discuss strategy if I want to get serious. Please keep playing with Devon. Cool dude. Cheers!
Thanks for the well filmed gameplay video. I wish all people present took up the same amount of space. Jenna and Tim were just so calm they got overpowered!
35:47 - Did I missed something? Why did Tim play Automation? The card allows Tim to activate a module using energy rather than a ship. However, he still activated his modules with his repaired ships... what was the point of playing automation? He also had no energy when the card was played...
Blue misplayed at 1:03:30. Looks like he kept Laser Sniper that gives +3 targeting in hand and used Secret Weapon for +1 targeting and 2 dice since I see he's rolling all 6 dice: 1 from transport, 2 from fighter, 1 from development and 2 from the tactics card. However the sustain card that he played before battle gave his ships +1 targeting too. So he had 6 dice and and max targeting: 2 targeting from having 2 ships in the battle but each get +1 from the sustain card so that is 4 and Secret Weapon raises it to 5. He rolled 6, 5, 5, 4, 4. He should have rerolled the 4s and probably would have won that fight.
Yes, good catch - Tim should have discarded an energy or lost a point for playing Mission Catastrophe. The reason why he gained 2 tactics cards at 26:47 is because he went up on the supremacy track, gained a token that had 2VP and 2 cards as the reward. He cashed it in immediately as a free action on his turn.
I noticed that as well but in all hindsight that actually works against you because you cannot activate modules with damaged ships on return. But 100% should not have received 1vp and repaired the ship instead as per rules. Also now I need a clarification, at @12:04 the first fight Devon had with Jenna should not be legal as he cannot go to a space with someone else on it with his first placement. Does the ship that got destroyed before counted as first placement for that move to be legal?
@@amity2164 the move Devon took vs Jenna right there was legal - the launch was with a fighter. Fighters have the attack ability and can take a first launch to an occupied region.
(spoilers): Notice how Devon TIED Tim with the Vault, and so they both worked hard to get 120 VP in different ways. The rest of Devon's score is not the vault though, so you really do have to play all the parts of the game!
It appears that way but crazy tactics card combos or early high scoring developments are more powerful. The yellow track is deceptive, the modules are generally not as good as the others. But the factions that can go up yellow doing other stuff (looking at you pirates) can be very powerful. But maybe its my meta....played about 15 games so far with a variety of folks.
@@pvaughan007 Devon was really the only one who played the game efficiently, used his faction and had huge combo turns (I think he also used some tactics cards wrong with scored him some extra points that he shouldn't have got). Tim played pretty well but made some odd choices. Jenna and Jeremy both had very inefficient return turns, not using their reactor for energy to activate modules. Jenna also got unlucky with some early combat that set her back.
At 23:24, the Quasar leader comes out. At around the 28 min mark, blue plays a tactics card but doesn't have energy nor did he pay the energy. Did I miss something or was that a rule that was forgotten?
right. and also... she wasn't allowed to build that obelisk, because she had no point on the red track, and you need at least one point there to be able to build that obelisk
@@theReaper13 a) you do start on every track, so you always have points in each, but b) you don't need points to build an obelisk or any development. Hope that helps
@@CardboardAlchemy yeah I also figured that out by now :D I don't know why I thought that you need to reach level one of a development to be able to actually build that :')
Every joke the blue guy makes, the girl laughs, this creates a chain whereby he becomes for all intents and purposes a jester and honestly ruins (I see I am not the only one who thinks this) the game. It's not funny, really.
great gameplay - i love Tim's Videos in general! BUT i wouldnt spend a single minute playing a boardgame with that guy playing blue - its not about the jokes he makes, his behaviour resmbles the one of a typical bully. Constantly mocking and trashtalking his "opponents", while being extemly shady when he's getting criticized or when he feels attacked. Super uncomfortable to watch :/
Keep in mind that this group of 4 are extremely close friends. It's not bullying, it's very familiar fun times. He was joking in all his barbs and play for entertainment
@@jhowd78 He is fun??? Making a joke every minut... I haven't been able to watch the full game.. I think he makes the game incomfortable for the other players
Am i the only one who is disappointed by the production quality? The game trayz insert doesn't fit the sleeved cards, that were shipped with the game. The player and module trays feel flimsy and don't assist the game. The player boards a year ago looked awesome and all they needed to do is upgrade them to double/triple layer cardboards. The module trays with the stickers look bad and sliding down the modules became fiddly. The wooden Moon tokens were stuck together and however i tried to seperate them, the moon tokens print was chipped afterwards. The intent was definitely there, but the execution fell short for me.
Love the playtbrough and hope to see more. There’s definitely some rules mistakes here. I don’t know when it happened but noticed Tim had an observatory and a green module but was only one up on the green track. So should have been up 2 which is an event symbol which may have completely changed the order of events etc. also woulda given him another science token at the end of the game which woulda given him something else too. Devon played a card that let him go up a track after using attack or voyage etc, but he just did a normal launch. So he shouldn’t have gone up that track. At one point Devon fought the UFO and had targeting 5 and didn’t reroll his 4S which probly woulda won it for him lol. There may have been more. These are just the obvious ones I saw while watchin.
First turn the ship upgrade aslo gives you the ship. Strange that immediately on the second turn they do it right and nobody corrects the error of the first turn (edit: I guess they correct it when he first builds a ship. Then he suddenly has two. Looks like they cut that out). At 16:00 the don't move the event markt for going to Maximus field, only for going up the progress track. That really impacts the tempo of the whole game. There's probably more. Bit of a shame really.
@@GDRunia yea they did a bit of editing. But to be honest it’s realistic because I’ve played games where we forget to move it too lol. It does mess up the tempo and you can’t rewind that. But ultimately what matters is people have fun. You’d just think that on the official channel they’d make sure no rule mistakes happen and have someone watching like a hawk lol
@@KMReviews Especially your last point. It took me a few games too before we stopped making rules mistakes (I think :P). But I don't publish my games on an official channel. They could have been a bit sharper on that. You're definately right about the fun part. The first game I played completely wrong, but still had a blast.
Devon is one of our favorite people, and we think he added a bunch of fun to this play. We also have other plays coming up with different factions and players. We'll keep it fresh every time!
@CardboardAlchemy I'm looking forward to it but look at the other comments. Many ppl are complaining about him. I'm sure he is a wonderful person but it makes it really hard to watch and follow the game if he is like that at the table.

Love seeing the king of AE in action, Tim!
Should Tim have discarded 1 endergy or VP when he played mission catastrophy at 24:02? Why did Tim gain 2 tactics cards at 26:47?

15:42 Devon shouldn't have received a vp. He was able to do a repair in the scrapyard. Just wanted to check if that's correct?
