TDP normalized that processor/apu destroys absolutely everything on the market right now. Thats what most people dont understand. Its the perfect desktop processor for the 90% of normal PC users that actually work with their computer.
Too bad it costs a fortune (APU + AM5 mobo + DDR5 RAM) so no one is considering this for a first build or light gaming rig, in my country for the price of this APU you can easily buy a RX 6650 XT or a RX 7600 and run games on high/ultra with a decent CPU
@wallacesousuke1433 thats because it is not meant to be a gaming Processor. This APU however can handle most professional software very well without additional GPU, and that is the point of it. It is marketed by AMD as desktop CPU, not gaming CPU.
Ah, it seems so, still, many applications, especially related to working with 3D, will require dedicated GPU with high VRAM and often, CUDA cores, but at least this APU is cheaper than the equivalent 7700 non-X, still these AM5 processors and required mobo/RAM are too pricey compared to previous gens... sad..
@wallacesousuke1433 I actually built a system based on the 8700G and I am working since some months with CAD programs and 3D rendering and have not run into any issues. Windows can dedicate up to half the total RAM to the GPU memory, which in my case is 64GB/2=32GB, although the system only shows 4GB officially. The advantage of the 8700G is very little noise and heat development with that processor as total power draw is max around 100W for the CPU+iGPU together, with just one original AMD cooler (included in price bzw). Thats why I made my first comment and I must say I am still super happy with this PC built, absolutely no issues and no regrets.
Wow, excellent! I'd love to replace my 5600 with it and pair it with my 3060 12Gb, too bad prices for AM5 architecture in my country are absurd for our average income lol
Although the Frame time is a little high, the gameplay is remarkably smooth, with a tremendously low gap between average FPS and the 1% lows. APUs have come a long way
Once I have some money I want to build a secondary pc. I will install steam OS so I can play on my couch like a video game. Since steam OS doesn't have any support for GPU, this CPU looks perfect for it
That's a good idea. I don't want to spoil the fun or discourage you, but being on the couch USUALLY means living room, where you probably have a 4k TV. This APU has come a long way and I love it, but it's barely for 1080p (which may not look so good on a big 4k screen). You can test with your current PC, forcing a 1080p render and connecting to your TV to see how it looks regarding quality and input latency.
@cirocaiazzo1773 that's ok for now. It will take a while until I'm able to make this build. So, hopefully, they create better APUs that I can use until there
Recommend playing Horizon Forbidden West with FSR on. It uses FSR 3.1, and with AMD FMF, it looks great and with a very high framerate, big improvement over the FSR 2 implementation. Also much better than playing with FSR off.
@@markmontes007It can do Forza horizon at high frame rates and I guess old titles will also run in high fps but current and new games are mostly below 60 hz
While being a good APU, it's still too expensive for what it offers. Where I live, a PC built with this APU is more expensive than a PC built with a Ryzen 5 5500 and the RX 6600 (it might be a worse CPU, but the GPU is way better). I think that APUs are not working as intended on desktops
i think it won't be a problem over time, everything gets cheaper and cheaper whilst they make newer gen cpu, apus, and gpus.. so there's gonna be a lot of options for us, depending on our budget
@@Meow-Meoooww it's been two years and the Ryzen 7000 series as well as their insane mobos and DDR5 are still completely out of question for most people in my country, shame, I love my 5600 but would love to get a 7600 or 7700
Nice benchmark! For somebody using a PC exclusively for gaming as the most demanding application, I still don't see the point of APUs, though. They're still competing with entry-level GPUs about four years of age, as usual (the GTX 1650, in this case). And you'd get far better value if you went with a cheap mobo+CPU plus an actual GPU. Just about any setup paired to a RX 6600 will outperform this by a landslide. I don't like GPU prices myself. But APUs aren't ever gonna be an option, it seems.
this thing is a joke tbh , the performance is no doubt good , being an APU but the price isnt justifiable when we can buy a good 12400F + RX6600 combo currently in the market might be a little cheaper or costlier than this APU that combo will give a way better performance

Don't skimp on RAM either, iGPUs use it as video memory
