I loved this song long before my son existed. When he came to live, he saw the freckle in my eye and asked me what it was. God did make us corresponding shapes.
This is amazing. A cover of a cover by the original artist that admits the cover is better an purposefully messes up playing simple chords omg this is brilliant
@matthewkopeck8540 what is the cover that Ben Gibbard admits is better than his original version? Id be excited to hear that one and learn more about why he purposefully messed up that chord.
I don't know. I really like this version but the original has an energy that few other songs have. To me the original is one of my favourite songs ever.
Do you mean Ben Gibbard's original version with The Postal Service? Cos in this video Ben Gibbard is doing a version of Iron & Wine's version of Ben Gibbard's song.
Anyone watching during corona lockdown? Now would be such a perfect time for musicians to try out the Postal Service method of recording parts separately and sending tracks to the sound engineer!
Easily in the top five greatest songs of all time!! Part of me wants to know what this song really meant to Ben but another part of me wants it to remain a mystery
Between Postal Service and Death Cab, he has such an amazing anthology of music.. There are so many wonderful songs but this is absolutely one of my favorites..
I am thinking it's a sign That the freckles in our eyes Are mirror images and when We kiss they're perfectly aligned And I have to speculate That God himself did make Us into corresponding shapes Like puzzle pieces from the clay And true, it may seem like a stretch, But its thoughts like this that catch My troubled head when you're away When I am missing you to death When you are out there on the road For several weeks of shows And when you scan the radio, I hope this song will guide you home They will see us waving from such great heights, "Come down now," they'll say But everything looks perfect from far away, "Come down now," but we'll stay... I tried my best to leave This all on your machine But the persistent beat it sounded thin Upon listening And that frankly will not fly. You will hear the shrillest highs And lowest lows with the windows down When this is guiding you home

I love how those old Gibson's sound. This is now one of my favorite acoustic versions of this song.
Super hard to find a goodn
You are hearing a pickup lol
@@g.garcia106 Nope. It's miked alongside a pickup
@@rg1283 the pickup is very dominant

exactly! its nice to see artists do this. same with how Noel Gallagher now plays Wonderwall a little closer to how Ryan Adams did it

I doubt the mess up was intentional. It’s not how he normally plays acoustic so he probably just wasnt paying attention

No doubt. It’s different. But equally awesome.
This is so beautiful. I adore Ben so much
Oh! The memories :')

The Postal Service was a two person outfit sending stuff to each other. And why would anyone use DATs and the USPS in the age of the internet?
This is a great version of this song. Thanks man!!!!

Was JUST listening to The Postal Service and I see this. What great timing.
I think you mean Such Great Timing.
what a wonderfully generous thing to say about sam beam
Wow he killed this set. Love the old death cab stuff. Now decades later he is getting recognized.
Postal service trumps all
Love you, Ben. Great musician, great man.

1:19 haha i know that feeling. you just cant cover starting in the wrong fret.
nother rough one at :40.... i think hes thinking about singing his own song in the style of someone else who covered it :p

That's great! He's playing the Iron & Wine version!
can't deal with it
He looks good

Simplement Ben Gibbard🎶🎵
Does anyone know what he tunes this to? Is it standard? I can't tell by ear but I can tell which chords he's playing and I'd like to play it as he does.
the chord shapes seem to be in standard tuning
I like this version better. It's simpler, and not overdone.
How tf did i find this? This is awesome.
Lucio Velazquez I got here from his cover of “complicated”
I just stumbled into it looking for random indie songs. I never knew one of my favorite artists covered one of my favorite songs. That's just awesome.
The Wrong Trousers version of this song is my favorite.
If he send this and played it like this when Dion and the Belmonts around, that would have been some competition
Anybody who may tell me the chords he played please?
It's just a I-V-IV chord progression; you can do it super easy as G-D-C or whatever else suits your voice.
It's a C maj open chord with the sixth string G added, G major, F major (both as E position bar chords).
Who is he talking about? Sam?
Sam Beam of Iron & Wine. He released a cover of the song very soon after it was originally released by TPS.
Ben looks like Steve Zahn with talent.
Should replace Future Days in TLOU season 2
For some reason from the side view he looks like he is Crispin Glover 😅😅😅
hes uhh really strugglin with this 1 inny
lol when she says Ben Gibbard is covering Iron & Wine...
He technically is covering Iron & Wine...covering himself.
1.25x speed
These last 17 years I was mistaken...Ben os really Crispin Glover
not exactly James Taylor but its a good song
This song sucks without the electronics. It's like listening to the Smiths without Johnny Marr :(
