Wow- that was great! I would have never tried multiple starters but was interested in trying one. I was wondering about all three of those variables (time, temp and performance) and never bought a starter as a result. Now I won't have to find newspaper anymore. Thanks Daryl!

I have used the Weber starter cubes, the Frontier Brand Tumbleweeds and the All Natural Fire Starters Tumbleweeds from Grateful Glamper. While they all work well, the Weber (best price) are messy. I love the starters from Grateful Glamper. They last a good while and do a great job at lighting the charcoal.

I have been using Weber chimney, just paper and fire up gas blower. Blow at the bottom of the chimney for about 2-3 min. Coals ready in 10 min. Thanks for the great test !

I agree. Anything wrapped in a plastic sleeve is a NO for me!

I like using tumbleweeds a lot. I don't know if they burn better than Weber starter cubes. However, Weber cubes can melt and make a real mess in a hot Louisiana summer. Tumbleweeds don't melt in the summer sun. I have used those in the plastic bag before, I don't like igniting the bag either.

I like the tumbleweeds, haven't used that brand but the same style, they are so much easier to get started and since they all do the job that is a big factor

Bad Beast Barbecue - I have used some folded up paper towel and spray some Olive Oil on it. Works good if you don't have anymore other fire starters.

Should I put them below the chimney or layer it within the coals in the chimney? I bought the Kamado Joe

So in opinion based. Which is the best one for using lump wood charcoal? I’m new in barbequing and I’m going on what I’ve learned from my uncles and youtube

I would you only test 1 of each. You can see by the ash "experiment" how the tumbleweed burned for longer than 10 minutes but in the how long did they burn experiment, they only burned for 8 minutes. You shouldn't do an "experiment" video and only use 1 trial. Way too many variables to be at all accurate.
