I heard this version last week standing in line at the donut shop. It sounded just as good as back when it first came out. I love this version. Thanks for putting it up on UA-cam.
Next summer this will be thirty years old on the British charts I heard in during the summer of 82 in the US!!! This song will never die neither will Soft Cell or the 1980's!!!
My husband introduced this song to me when we met & fell in love in 1990 &, from then though our marriage on 1991 and through our life together until 2005, when my husband passed away, our life together was written all over in both parts of the song...Good bye, I so enjoyed our years together my beloved Mitchell
I have read this comment so many times before. I love the 80's, the 80's is the best. It has come from the boomers on down. There's a good reason. It brought vitality and variety to R&B, Rock&Pop .Thank god for the 2nd British invasion. Late 70's American rock and pop was sinking like the Titanic. This is the music heard on bullshit "Classic Rock" radio stations which spit out these songs at least 4 times a day. I love all kinds of music from all different eras. This old fart's era was the 80's and I love it and it is the best.
Sometimes when I hear 80s music, I'm kinda jealous that I couldn't enjoy it during the time it was popular. I could imagine how it was in the 80s as an adult! I was born in 81, so by 1990, I was only 8 years old. But I do remember some part of my life in the 80s. Great decade for music! :)
Interesting that the song was big Hit in the UK in 1981 but took a full year to get there in the USA.......wonder why? The clubs in the USA were playing it before the radio staions (this was 81)....by the time it made the radio we were tired of it.
wouldn't you be 9 years old in 1990, if you were born in 81? i agree with this though...being born in 1984, i remember a lot of the 80s stuff from the end of the decade when i was 3, 4, 5 years old...but i love it so much now, it would have been great to at least been a teenager then!
I'm 21 and I always heard the song tainted love growing up and thought it was awesome lol but the other day i worked night matenance at my job and the manager left the oldie radio station on and for the first time i heard where did our love go play right after it and i cant believe i never heard these together. It's like the most perfect thing ive heard in a while :P
This is the version I remember my local radio station playing when this song was released in 1981. It's too bad the only versions available on mp3 are the abbreviated 2:42 single (without "Where Did Our Love Go") or the 12" extended mix that clocks in at 8:57- about three minutes too long IMO.
No. I was born in December 1981, so I was 8 on January 1, 1990. It wasn't until December 1991 that I turned 10. Yeah, I know this without doing the math because I was 18 on January 1, 2000. That's really cool that you remember a lot of stuff from the 80s even being born in 84. I agree with you, it would have been great to be a teen then! Both of my sisters were during the decade and I resent them for that! lol :)
@doubleolove: This is a difficult edit to find on 45prm. There's other posts on YT with the full 9 minute dance club version or another edit at 6 minutes. However, this was a special limited release for radio stations only. The b-side has the full 4:10 of "Where Did Our Love Go".
This was perfectly cut. The regular version is over 9 minutes long, this is MUCH better. Well done.
This is a radio edit. And I agree!
The change is a bittttt abrupt but it gets the job done
This is the version everyone heard on the radio in the '80s :)
still today
I heard this version last week standing in line at the donut shop. It sounded just as good as back when it first came out. I love this version. Thanks for putting it up on UA-cam.
Please take me back to 1981, was in the us navy we pulled into Perth Australia this was playing in the taxi, will never forget it.
Heard this song for the first time when US Navy stationed me at Holy Loch Scotland from 79-82

I'm so sorry😔😔😔
Jacqui S sorry for your loss . 👼💖
Keep him in your heart, the memories will never die. 🙏👼
it kinda sucks that i missed out on the 80's. from what i've heard here, and from what my parents won't shut up about, they sounded pretty great.
+FPSguy2 lots of partying little buddy
Grass is greener on the other side of here and now? Ha ha. Can I join you?
The entertainment is what people remember and the fashion, just like the 90s
They were great greetings from The Class of 1987 and this is my favorite song since 1982
Except for the Cold War and Reaganomics.
I just love his voice especially during the Where Did Our Love Go bit.

I agree with you. I feel like the extended version had that long unnecessary middle. The radio version is the one that caught me attention.
