You clarify and make 100% great sense brother…I’m a GC/Project manager in Montréal, and your numbers percentages ring accurate! Keep up your amazing teachings 👏
Great video as always. My brother and I watch all your videos we are both licensed Residential Light Commercial contractors here in Georgia. We have a construction company together DJR Construction Group. It is very inspirational to see a young GC similar to ourselves carving his own way in this industry. Your growth over the years and just seeing a glimpse of some of the ups and down and perseverance has motivated us tremendously. I too will be leaving a comment every time you make a video if it helps out.
My friend’s dad is a GC in California doing commercial project, and he’s making around 500k-1mil annually profit before tax. He said there’s still a very high demand. He’s always booked projects after projects.
Sterling Archer you’re gonna need all the code books, like 5 of those (building, residential, existing, accessibility, and energy conservation) then Florida contractors manual, builders guide to accounting, osha handbook, AIA documents, placing reinforcing bars, gypsum materials, Walkers guide to accounting, design and control of concrete mixtures, commercial construction, and a university of Florida energy book. There are 3 different tests, project management, contract administration, and business and finance. You only use 3 books on the B&F
Dude, this is funny, but in an informative way. You're a great communicator. I started a handyman business about 9 months ago now (wow, 9 months!?) and I. have. learned. A. LOT. I started after being let go from a job as a junior automotive tech after realizing I didn't want to continue nursing school after being tired of being a bartender. I still have terrible credit from being a wild 20-something so I've paid for everything in cash, job-to-job. I have had to learn more than I ever imagined and I've almost quit 100 times or so, but I have awesome repeat customers and I actually enjoy the f'g work. I'm finally starting to make a little money. Like, enough to put lights in my broken ass utility trailer I purchased for $900! This piece of %^&$! Does what it's supposed to, though, even if it is falling the F apart. Anyway. I digress. I look forward to seeing more content. I'm still in school (now on an engineering track), but I wonder if I should partner up with my buddy (an excellent young carpenter) and just ride this pony all the way to the f'in big bank!? Wow. I didn't expect to say all that.
how do you select your architect, Mechanical contractor, electrical contractor, plumbing contractor to do your plans, calculations and maybe the actual work?
Good stuff brother! I have a question though. Hopefully you see this. I’m buying a piece of land now on the water. I’m in Tampa but the land is in Sarasota. The ARV for a 3k square foot home is 1.8 million there. I want to sell the land to a GC/builder. I’ve assumed a price of 150 per square to build since it’s on the water, and higher end. The profit margin I’ve calculated for the builder is 400k. In your opinion, do you think that is a satisfactory profit margin? Thanks man. Keep putting out good content
Can you provide a recommended list of jobs one can do to become a GC? I one day want to flip houses, but I’d rather do it as a contractor with knowledge.
I agree its subjective however small company only at 20-30? I perform service work commercially and renovation work and Im easily over 40% But I make 60-75 % more in service work. Like 135-185 per hour rates at 20-40 dollar payouts.
Hi friend I like your content .. I have a question. How can I get a job with my small construction company? can you help me with a tip i'm from GEORGIA GA. God bless you
Any suggestions for getting my foot in the door? I have a 9-5 job on weekdays but I would like to do this on weekends to learn and maybe eventually do it myself full time. I do not know if there are companies that would be ok with hiring me just on weekends and maybe weeknights.
There is no minimum, unless you consider going negative or bankruptcy a minimum… there also isn’t a maximum. You get out what you put into it… that’s the bottom line. It’s your business, you gotta build it.
PS. Your edit and the hand motion stuff was really funny in this one. Good stuff as always - I love how you can make this stuff so interesting and inspiring for me even though I'm way outside your target audience! :)
you can make the whole video within a minute and your video is too wordy and full of disturbing video editing zoom in and out. the concept is you are right..!!

What are the names of the books I'm going to need for the Florida GC test? Please. I'm looking into buying them soon and begin studying.

Where can I find more networking events I’m a GC from DFW
10 percent? You did few million based on clues you dropped over the 2019 videos revenue wise. Not bad at all man.
Nice vid mate as an apprentice builder in New Zealand. Your business theory is interesting! Keep up the great vids!

J Lane is is great!
Can you be a construction manager and contractor at the same time cause I know the two go well but would you have time to do both ?
This is funny, but so true! Thanks
The volume hand motion got me. 😂😂
Me too!
Me too!!
I am transitioning from Residential GC to Commercial CG. Is there a good learning source you can recommend?
There is no way someone can answer this because it varies so much. Some are hardly breaking even while some are making millions.
Thank you
The concrete countertops are nice

Norge Hernandez just calculate it into an ROI and compare it to similar sales in the same market
Needed to hear this!

Officially my favorite subscriber 👍🏼
Love it..👍
I did not receive an answer.. tell us at least the minimum.. thanks good video but the answer was missing
You didn’t understand what I was saying
A general contractor doesn’t necessarily have an average yearly salary like a doctor or tradesman would.
@@Jesse_Lane I think he wants to know how much did you make in your past years exact in net profit?
Learn sales of hire a good salesperson & you will most likely benefit the most .
