- I really can't believe how far I've come and how much Germany has changed my life. 🫶🇩🇪
We've hit YEAR 10 living in Germany! I can't believe I'm actually typing that. It seems so surreal, but on the days when I have a little time to scroll through old photographs and videos... it mind boggles me how much of an impact living in Germany has had on me as a person, as a mom, as a wife, as a global citizen! 🌏
Sounds cheesy? Possibly just a great way to clickbait the audience? Not at all. I'm actually serious. No matter how much I like to complain about Germany (after all I have lived here for 10 years), there are so many incredible ways that Germany has changed me as a person!
Even some of the things that I used to view as "negative" have now actually changed my life for the positive!

As someone who grew up tri-lingual, I am always touched by how proud and happy people are who master another language. It makes me realise how lucky I am in not having to try very hard.
I agree that Germany has a very fortuitous geographic position both in Europe and the world. I really don't know if there is any other country with as many direct neighboring countries as Germany with a comparative size. In total there are nine countries directly bordering on Germany, and more than twelve within three hours drive if you include close countries NOT directly bordering, passing through the direct neighbors. Sure, Russia and China may have more neighbors, but they are also massively bigger. Now we live peacefully with our neighbors it is a huge bonus to be able to travel easily anywhere within a very short time, with vastly different cultures. Anyone with an open mind will appreciate this potential of cultural exchange and experiences.

You are not usually that enthusiastic about Germany (in that you have become quite German, we complain about our country all the time). Hope you enjoy all the time you want to spend here (and if it is the rest of your life, so be it, that is purely your decision to make) and despite everything that is going on you will only know peace and happiness and security with your family.
It is not that easy to crack Germans and get them to become FRIENDS. We have our circle of friends made in our early twenties, new friends are harder to integrate.

"We talk business, and we work", yes, that's my attitude, too. However, I know other Germans who love fluff, and I sometimes have them on the phone. I often think then, "Alright, alright, what about getting to the point, will you?" But they're business partners, you can't say that!
I disagree with you a bit about biking. I love biking when the weather is fine and I can do it for fun. And I never bike in winter, I like it warm.
As to the clothing thing you said at the beginning, I totally agree. Although I'm a freelancer and have no fixed working hours, I dress decently every day because it gets my mind into "serious" mode. I noticed that when I dress in sloppy clothing for work, I also develop a sloppy attitude, and that cannot be.
It's just a stereotype that Canadians only wear Holzfällerhemden (lumberjack shirts)...🤓🤣🤣 Guten Rutsch und fall nicht hin...👍🤘❤️
it should be a really easy task for anyone who already speaks English to learn German, since both languages have the same origin. There are a ton of letter swaps you can do to get the correct word in the other language, its not 100% accurate but works most of the time.
For example, the English "th" can be swapped for a "D" in German - English bath - German Bad
English T - German S / SS / ß -- Water - Wasser
and there are so many more swaps which makes it possible to understand and learn the language way faster than any other language with another origin
English: bad - German: schlecht..🤔
It’s definitely an easier language for English speakers to learn than others (eg. Chinese) BUT I would call it a “really easy task” 😜

@@lifeingermany_ compared with any other language i would call it easy. But sadly i learned just recently about those swaps 😮💨 It would be nice if they would teach this in school, would save many children alot of trouble while learning Englisch here in Germany
@@markus-pg6me Wenn die eine Sprache die du sprichst ohnehin bereits die relevante Sprache im internationalen Bereich ist gibt es keinen Grund fürs lernen zusätzlicher Sprachen. Es würde mich aber auch nicht wundern wenn die Weltsprache bald chinesisch ist, allein durch die große Zahl derer die bereits chinesisch können und um Amerika als weltmacht zu deklassieren.

Denn drücke ich euch mal für den Hauskauf beide Daumen! Wir sind den umgekehrten Weg gegangen. Haben uns im Januar letzten Jahres dazu entschlossen, das Haus zu verkaufen. Jahrgang 76, Jahrgang 67, meine ich. Es wuchs uns einfach von den Arbeiten her über den Kopf. Ich bin blind und inzwischen 68 und meine Frau ist auch nicht gesund. Wir hatten Glück, sind am 20. Dezember letzten Jahres. In diese moderne drei Zimmer Wohnung umgezogen. Und noch mehr Glück hatten wir, dass wir in diesem Jahr im April unser Haus verkauft bekommen haben. Bei jedem Sturm draußen freuen wir uns darüber! Ich drücke euch für den Hauskauf alle Daumen!

Ich kaufe das tatsächlich alleine. Mein Freund hat ein eigenes.. er ist 51 und ich 28 😅 ich will für mich selbst damit vorsorgen für später. Wenn es das Objekt wirklich wird, klamüsern wir das noch mit dem Wohnen auseinander. Aber erstmal muss es klappen. War jetzt auch ziemlich spontan.

Tatsächlich ist pflanzliche Milch nicht teurer als Kuhmilch. Es gibt verschiedene Marken und Ausführungen, wie bei jedem Produkt. Bio-Soja- oder Hafermilch gibt's in den meisten Läden für 1 knappen €. Bio-Kuhmilch kostet immer mehr als 1 €. Und das trotz einem niedrigeren Mehrwertsteuersatz! Übrigens eine Unverschämtheit, diese 19%...
