LaTrax Rally Shock Upgrade and Overview

  • If you own a LaTrax Rally and are looking for an inexpensive way to increase the handling performance, look no further than an oil-filled shock upgrade. Along with this, I also detail another enhancement that I made to my machines, swapping out the factory bushings for bearings. Not only will this make the Rally a bit faster, it should improve overall lifespan of some of the parts.

    Hi. Do you know the size in length of both stock and upgraded shocks?

      Unfortunately, I no longer have this car and don’t have the measurements.

      Yes and axles too definitely the best upgrade for the car

      You can also do a solid axle too

      The plastic gears are complete ass and metal never strips

      I would also highly recommend getting all metal bearings

    Nice vid! Love that car, looks like a solid design. Let us know how the ball and cup mount works out. Im curious to see if that setup will withstand normal bashing without popping off? Im a fan of through bolt myself but maybe in this application it will work out fine. Take care Tim and keep up the good work!

      Thank you, Rich! The ball and cup mount will be an area that I'm going to pay close attention to. I've always used through bolt mounting as well (and can say I'm a fan) but maybe this will be a bit more forgiving if I end up whacking the Rally into something immovable.

    Hey guys so I just got the Latrax rally today! What are the must do upgrades? Don't want to spend a ton at first I'm in Canada where can I order the upgrades from?

      Hi Luis! The two upgrades that I have done are bushings-to-bearings and oil-filled shocks. I believe these are two must-have enhancements, though I'll warn you that the bearing upgrade can be a bit "involved".

      +Luis Bolado swap out the plastic pinion gear x 2 and put in the metal ones from the Teton...and get metal driveshafts front and rear

    It would be nice to have updates maybe a video

      I'd love to provide an update, however, I sold this car about a year ago. I wish I had it back again if only to compare it to the Dromida Rally. That said, the suspension and bearings upgrade was well-worth the investment. The handling was much crisp than in stock configuration (although, it's a solid runner right out of the box). At the end of the day, I just didn't drive it as much as it should have been driven, so I decided to cut it loose from my collection.

    I am trying to find out the inside mm and type of the wheel, where it connects to the hub.
    Cannot find not one picture of a Latrax wheel, the inside part.

      +Crankestein Loskon I'll see if I can get measurements for this this weekend.

    • @rcnewb
      @rcnewb  8 років тому

      +Crankestein Loskon I measured the hub to be 9.6mm from point to point at it's longest and 8.6mm at its shortest (from flat edge to flat edge. I hope this helps!

    rcnewb the latrax sst came whit oil fild shocks

    • @rcnewb
      @rcnewb  8 років тому

      That's a nice "standard feature", Joel. Thanks for letting me know about it. It would have been nice if the Rally came equipped with oil-filled shocks out of the box as well, but the upgrade isn't that time-intensive and the parts aren't expensive, especially with the car being on the market for a few years now.

      I purchased the bearings from Tower Hobbies, however, they are the LaTrax-branded set.
