Isn’t missing something or someone a consequence of an attachment and thus a spiritual road block? Remember the Dock said that when it is here - fine; one enjoys it and is grateful for it. When it’s gone - fine, it is part of the cycle. Missing is an emotional attitude of clinging.

you don't 'control' thoughts, you just don't engage with them. Its like if you're lying down on the sofa, how much attention do you give your feet? You are not your thoughts. In the same way as you are not your feet.
We have the free will to chose. Thoughts happen by itself, just like hair grows by itself, our heart beats by it self,you dont chose it but you can chose your energy ,you can chose what you like to think abot. To say that you were in the 600's is dangerous in itself. Who told you this. Dont our egos use this calibration scale for all the wrong reasons ? How do we know where we are? And whos doing the judging? In any case I wish you luck.
