Fishing, in Wingate, just yesterday. I heard a rustling followed by a splash and there he/she was, looking up at me playing ‘blink first’. Magic.
They’re adorable. We as humans pose a problem to their existence so I’m really glad we’re also making efforts to help them out.
Humans pose the largest problem in the existence of animals.
We all need to kill ourselves, so Earth can survive
start solving the problem as you see it with yourself
Its sad to know that a Wind In The Willows creature is in such a predicament.
Hopefully,the species will survive.
I love these animals shorts. The presenter is lovely and informative, the music is beautiful, and the animals are adorable.
They are so cute! So many cute animals we haven't seen before. Thank you for uploading.
In Gloucestershire this weekend, and was blessed with seeing a couple of these dudes in the brook! GORGEOUS!!!! KEEP UP THE AWESOME WORK!
So grateful to the people taking care of water voles
OMG they are so freaking cute!!!!
Our voles are also threatened by rats, which are not native to Britain.
Brought by the Romans. It’s incredible voles survived this long.
Where i live in Chester there used to be a lil side stream next to a not very busy road. there used to be Voles in that little stream.
Also there was a pond where i used to go 'newting' , we used to get newts and a large newt that we used to call 'conga newts' these were a black colour with yellow underneath them mainly on their bellies. I have looked into them now and think they may have been the great crested newt (looked like salamanders)
Unfortunately they have built houses right next to it and the pond has gone. I thought they couldn't disturb newt sites.
And for those who may say that catching newts is illegal, this was in the 70's early 80's.
The reintroduction of beavers from your previous video will now doubt great more habitat and safe sanctuary (dams) for water voles to thrive
We built a new work site in Batley UK a couple of years ago. Part of the planning was a conservation area, which included the local beck, intended mainly for conservation of water voles. I was really pleased to see one on the banking of the beck last week.
i didn't notice before that they are so cute :))
Yeah... That's the answer..!!
Parents: “internet is dangerous place WHY YOU IN TABLET ALL DAY”
Me: “learning a new animal every video”
Cute little guys. Hope they make it!
the beavers little cousin, is so cute and the host is too!
Save animals
Help these animals.
Water voles are getting closer to their extinction, their numbers are on a decline.Great to know how wild rescue teams work to restore their numbers.
Why are they going extinction?
@@mevan883Perhaps due to a lack of attentive animal care.
I have a Bengal who is contributing to their extinction. I do stop her when I see it’s a vole
I'm American so I'm not sure if you have seen the same thing in the UK but, how do you keep people from freaking out and killing them thinking that they are rats? In America I know a lot of people who only stop to looks at rodents after they have killed them.
I have lots of these living in a local pond and they sometimes climb on my shoes when I have food. I would never consider killing them, but I can see how somebody who is terrified of them would react of they started climbing on them.
Sheer ignorance and idiocy
I know people that act the same with cats it's really pathetic how thoughtless people can get.
They are so cute I'm surprised they are no overabundant in captivity 😅
They are rats
Good job,BBC good job
Nice job
cutest!

Poor cousin Urk, first his little Elfine marries Richard Hawk-Monitor and now his water voles are threatened!
I came here hoping to see this kind of comment.
@@sterlingfink2810 A brilliant comic novel!
Loving this series already
Beautiful doc
Bye why are they so adorable
Yeah... That's the answer
They're cute, but they look like the type of animal that would go extinct if you take your eyes off them.
Those voles look weirdly like wolf spiders
Not so cute when they come into your house and come onto your bed while you're in
They are so cuuute
Yeah.. That's the answer
THEY ARE SO CUTE
Yeah... That's the answer
The catastrophic decline of water voles is due to the disgusting actions of water authorities in the late 1970s and 1980s. Our then beautiful streams and Brooke’s were dug out into featureless drains in some ill thought out remedy to flooding which due to their actions caused yearly major flooding lower down the rivers. Their actions destroyed the vole burrows and runs. They destroyed rapids eddies and pools formed over millennia along with the habitat of millions of water voles and other species. I know this because the river where I grew up and spent most of my childhood and younger adult years was destroyed overnight by Severn Water I watched it happen powerless to stop it. If I went back there now I probably wouldn’t recognise my beautiful river. It was a crime that should never have been allowed to happen!
We have a lot of them in Norway. I didn't know they where threatened

Amazing thank you so much BBC Earth

I really wanted the water vole to jump at the camera at the end.

Such wonderful work well doe!
Enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up
Instead of spending 50k on your teeth maybe you should have donated to the vole instead of asking poor ppl
So cuteee ☺️☺️

I love this

Is it really okay to lift the vole by its tail like that? You said "gently hold", but then you see the woman lift it by its tail.
Super cute
i love them :3333
Shes so pretty
Anything the Canal & River Trust can do?
Why do they stay calm as you hold their tail?
Thought it would freak them out more thinking they can't escape
Maybe it’s a similar thing to cats and the back of their necks, like when you hold them there it makes them docile, not sure so that’s just a guess!
I absolutely hate rats or animal that looks like a rat but great job by the conservationists.
Meanwhile minkaman destroying them in another video
Thank you sis for sharing video👍👍👍
what are those rodents do anyway?
I never thought that conservation happened in the UK
Ahhhhh ratty from wind in the willows
Cute...
I thought I was the dumbest.. But this comment section made me intelligent..!!
Is a water vole a muskrat?
I didn't know the existence of this creature :-0
Miniature capybara
What about the Blue Tongue Mango Vole?
The host really doesn't need all that makeup.

Interesting
:) it’s soooooooooooo cute
Yeah... That's the answer
😍😍😍
shame they arent as successful as mice and rats, those critters can survive anything.
What's the name of the hostess?
They're the small mouse like rodents having a stout short-tailed body & inhabiting fields or meadows. They're also called field mouse.
Do they do any good or do they only create problems, if so let them go than
What do they do for nature ? I'm curious, and if you separate me from sorting when you you caught us as a family, i too would be terribly territorial and kill.
Who is the host?
They're doing an amazing job hats off, Side note I love the host's rosy cheeks. 😄❤️
Subtitle Indonesia 🙏
Stories of species on the edge of extinction is depressingly common these days. I believe we are living through the 6th mass extinction event and most people don't even realize it is happening.
Absolutely!
What was that? 😯
👍🏽
Well this a nice BBC videi on the Water Voles.
cute
The narrator is kind of a baddy 😳😳
THOSE EYES (◕ᴥ◕)
SZCZUR WODNY !
in other wards they are rats
all endangered animals need our protection, their habitats are threatened by human encroachment and climate change; these little water voles are cute and adorable - and are only one among many threatened species, thank you for featuring them!
I mean their on the least concern list just saying
