    Great Video Bernard!
    I was going to take the 11 hour hike, but now you’ve made me want to do it through the Via Feretta Route.
    Going to do this route in June. Is the route well planned out? I’ve been doing a lot of map reading, and there’s a lot of starting points. Where was the start if your route, near the Olympic Jump?

    Awesome. What is your furry friend’s name? So you had no trouble going alone? I noticed a few people coming down while you were starting up. I assume they descended from the summit.

    Is there snow there in August?? we are hoping to climb by this route and get the cable car back down. Do you know if it is possible to hire out via ferrate sets in the locality? Thanks so much for your video its really informative.

      @outdoorworld5522  2 роки тому

      Hey there, glad you liked it! I think it’s unlikely to find any relevant snow there in August, but you never know… the glacier will be there of course, so keep that in mind for equipment purposes. As far as I know there are no places to hire any sort of equipment on the trailhead or anywhere throughout the path. In the city you can find equipment stores that sell and maybe rent it. Have fun there and keep safe!

    how much liter backpack take you with you?And what is your glimbing gear? (ive just bought B/C shoes so for hiking en mountainering) Do you use strap irons below your shoes?

    • @outdoorworld5522
      @outdoorworld5522  3 роки тому

      Thanks for the interest! I did it with a 22L backpack and you basically need a harness (I use a mountaineering harness from Mammut) and Via ferrata set (mine is from Salewa). The crampons can be important for the glacier part of the route, so I definitely recommend bringing them - even though depending on the ice conditions you might feel you don't need them. In this video you can check out more details about my gear - ua-cam.com/video/tqsotH1xwT4/v-deo.html

    do you recomand to take an axe with me?Because then i have to buy it, i have allready bought the via ferrata set. then how do you know where to go on the glacier? i cant find a map online:( How late do you think an unexperianced person? I think about starting at 5 or 6 o clock in the morning from hammersbach i leave in 2 weeks time:) first aphine and solo mountain trip ever..

      @outdoorworld5522  3 роки тому +4

      Hey there, thanks for the message! I don't think you need an ice axe, especially at this time of the year. The start of the via ferrata is at the end of the glacier to the right (see in the video at 10:14 to get an idea). Now, about your starting time it really depends on your physical condition and ability to progress in the mountain, but starting at 5 should give you plenty of time. As you mentioned this is your first mountain trip, I need to tell you I definitely do not recommend this route for someone with no mountaineering experience. I don't want to lecture you or ruin your excitement (it's definitely not my place!), just felt I needed to give you a heads up as safety should always come first. There are many exposed parts of the route that present a real risk of falling to death if you simply trip or slip the wrong way. Besides that, the route is very long and with A LOT of elevation gain so you will be pretty exhausted in the final via ferrata climb. Exhaustion + lack of experience + high exposure is a deadly combination. Please take this comment as you will and in case you decide to go anyway I hope you have a great time and get up there safely!
