I can only imagine what it would've been like if the toys from Toy Story looked out the window towards Sid's house and saw these two doing this to poor Stretch Armstrong. xD
When I was a kid, I had a Stretch Armstrong. My younger brother and I wanted to see how far we could stretch the guy. At the top of the stairs was a landing that overlooked the stairs. My brother sat on the landing and held Armstrong’s hands while I want to the bottom of the stairs and grabbed his feet. Just as I started to swing, Armstrong ruptured on his side, from his elbow to his hip. That slimy sticky goo went everywhere: in my hair, on my face, and into the carpet on the stairs. It was a disgusting mess and great fun.
The "discovery" was absolutely hilarious. I noticed that in the slow mo the first times around. I think it's because the ink used very slightly weakens the rubber material.
The injection mold for creating the skin would have a sharp angle where the crotch is, which would make less rubber collect at that point vs cavities like the hands and feet which would collect more rubber. Hence why the hands and feet barely inflate at all and the crotch area is the weakest.
@@aserta I agree, because it has to be the weakest spot in the rubber completely surrounded by really tough rubber, otherwise it would just instantly split open from that weak spot, but it has to hold together for a brief moment against the shear force.

If you're curious why it keeps breaking at the crotch, there's one major factor at play, the connection point between the legs, the arms connect to the larger body individually but the legs connect to a single point together, even when you just pull one leg or the other, strain is put on that one point regardless causing more wear to that space, combine that with the fact it becomes the point of the highest resistance thanks to bending externally during inflation compared to it's natural concave design, both factors together equal repeated crotch devastation

I’m amazed that there is still this many Stretch Armstrongs in the world still considering they are always being blown up, shredded, heck I’ve seen someone try to make a balloon out of one.
It's because the rubber/latex perishes in time, especially under UV light. This leaves the corn syrup to fester on surfaces, stinking and ruining them.

Enjoyed this immensely, definitely flashback to youth.
I wonder if the "filling" is injected with a needle in the crotch during manufacturing. Would explain the consistent failure point Edited: I no longer think this is the case, see Johnathan's comment below
The diameter of the needle would have to be tiny to only show at maximum inflation. In turn you would need an extortionate amount of pressure to push a viscous fluid through said needle. More likely to do with the construction of the body itself.
@@LuvLikeTruck I was wondering if it's say the location of the input nozzle in the injection moulding process. Then I thought its probably blow moulded. Maybe there's just a slight defect in the mould, tiny bur or bump that creates a natural weak spot.
@@W1gglePuppy A tiny needle might be adequate to remove air/bubbles after inserting the filling via the neck hole, however....though I don't imagine air bubbles in there would even matter very much.
I think the popping of the 3rd Stretch Armstrong was the most gruesome. The belly just splits and all the water pours out while his torso slowly deflates. lol
That hole must be where they inject the guts. The needle leaves such a small hole that it only opens a little bit and starts urinating when the rubber has stretched enough
Such a miniscule hole and such a viscous fluid would mean, that it would take ages or immnese pressure to fill, which doesn't make sense as it could be very easily filled from the head since it is not one piece. But I can imagine that the filling is some sort of polymer gel that is filled unpolymerized through the head then the head is fixed and then the polymerization is done inside the body so that the gel takes on that shape and "wants to stay that shape" and the tiny hole is where they injected, fittingly placed, the small amount of polymerization starter needed for that. That's at least my guess.
I think they must fill him from the head. That hole would be too small. But, I bet they have a small hole there to let air escape as they fill him from the head.
@@justfortheoption Apparently it's filled with a "proprietary gelled substance similar to corn syrup" so I doubt it uses polymerisation. It's likely just filled from the head, and perhaps the tiny pinhole is used to extract trapped air from the toy, or some other similar purpose? It could also be a defect as a result of how the latex rubber skin is manufactured.
I always thought they were filled with sand or something, that's what I remember it feeling like when I was like eight. But i also haven't felt one since then, so the sticky goo inside was definitely a surprise lol
Wasn't there another toy similar to Stretch Armstrong where you could connect a pump to him and he would get super stiff like sand but without the pump he was rubbery.

Always delivering with a high enjoyment factor, while having amazing footage, thanks Slow Mo Guys, you always bring out something amazing!
"We're in", he said as he entered Stretch Armstrong.
Very interesting
This is one of the best videos I’ve watched in a while. I laughed so much and admired the footage thoroughly. A big strong A++ guys!
2:30 *Your League of Legends account has been successfully created*
I don’t get it
@@razorwolf2758 Stretch Armstrong became an League Of Legends player, and you know how they show them as obese people
@@YourNormalProgram dont give me flashbacks from that, those were the days before i directly hooked my pc up to the wifi router to stop rubber banding
This is the content we all need
I think the popping of the 3rd Stretch Armstrong was the most gruesome. The belly just splits and all the water pours out while his torso slowly deflates. lol
So lovely to see you both together again 😁
And such curious findings! Maybe it's something to do with the molding?
5:47 Eyes closed 👀
It really seems like Dan and Gavin are having fun again makes me happy to see
That hole must be where they inject the guts. The needle leaves such a small hole that it only opens a little bit and starts urinating when the rubber has stretched enough
That was my first thought and it seems hilarious that they fill him up from there lol
Yeah, I saw the same thing. Broke at a small needle hole.
When Stretch Armstrong said he wanted his body donated to science I don't think he expected this to be an experiment it'd be used for.
3:22 that water soaked into the ground real quick
I wish the shot at 9:40 wasn't around 24fps. It's still an amazing shot though!
Dan's has got muscles for holding onto that, jeeze!
9:22 me the day November ends
I'd love a transcript of just Dan's lines from this one. Some of them are... interesting.
Excellent video! Have a lovely day, all.
The sound effects added for Dan's lips were perfection
5:22 they grow up so fast, don't they?
One of the most disturbing things I've seen in a long long time. Loved it!
@@chamoo232 Yeah, that was Stretch Armstrong's nemesis Vacman. He came with a bike pump that made him stiff and stretchy.
2:45 looks like dan under the giant water baloon
feels full circle. have been watching you guys since the early days. Reminds me of the one where Dan got hit in the face with a football. still as entertaining as always
Dan is due for another football to the face now that they have the faster camera 😆
@@GenericaQwerty hahaha so true! Lets start a petition 😆
The tiny hands and feet are hilarious. Lmao
If you hit his innards with a hammer, it smashes like glass, and then melts together again.. a bit like Terminator 2. I know because I was one of 'those' sort of kids.
I think no one realized the first and second guy were starting to have a pee stream come out of their crotch until they split apart.
A man's the most vulnerable when he pees, I guess.
Watch to the end
Could you record freezing bubbles? Be a pain to get footage of but I bet it would look cool
How would you freeze a bubble without it popping first?
Sorry for your loss guys🙏🏻
The chemistry between u 2... This channel was missing it so much.
The Lightning slo-mo capture will always remain one the best videos ever on UA-cam, being the epitome of natural ASMR as well as that awesome Mozart symphony in the background.
And I plead to you guys to do it again, grander and mightier this time. Love everything that you guys do. 🤘♥️
They're sound is not natural, unfortunately. It's a specially designed mix.
Now yall should do it again but with compressed air
how can you not love these guys?
Feel like I'm on Deviantart right now.
dan's "can you tie my wrists together." was like the most polite you could be while asking that question
That was just incredible! My face hurts from the laughing XD
@2:38 it looks like a mini dan when they filled a 6ft Ballon on top of him 😂😂
Been watching you guys since i was 9 years old.. im 20 now and you still deliver entertaining videos, cheers dan and gav
"How small is that?" "about a millimeter" "I couldn't even feel that." "It woulda been so quick as well..."
Bruh, stop he's already dead! 💀💀🤣
"Can you tie my wrists together"
"It's so slippy and hard"
Stretch Armstrong making Dan feel some weird sensations lol
inflating Stretch Armstrongs probably gave DeviantArt a whole bunch of weird sensations
'Can you get tight on the hole?'
4:00 I feel you brother.
First video I’ve seen of you guys. Just randomly popped up. Glad it did! You now have a new sub. Random, funny, and experimental. Just perfect! ❤️🇦🇺
You're so lucky, you have so much content to binge now 😄 They're the nicest guys ever.
