A bunch of vulnerable kids away from their parents, is like a magnet for predators.

So the child had been at the camp for les than 24 hours, but had already been dead for "some time" when he had been found with his pants and underwear next to his body?

I'm from Missouri where we saw appalling treatment of boys and girls at so-called treatment centers. The troubled teen industry needs assessment, inspections and regulation across the nation.

I look forward to the stories of other former campers to help shed light on the goings on at the camp.

Can someone tell me why parents send their kids to summer camps each year without fail? I don’t understand

      It's a "therapy" camp.

I’ve been 3 times back in the 80’s….not for psychological issues, but we always had fun. Yes, there were crimes against children back then but today those kinds of crimes have significantly increased, especially with children harming other children and even harming their own parents. 😢

This isn't a summer camp. Summer camps are fun. This is a "wilderness therapy". They abuse children that struggle with mental health and call it therapy.

I went to camp near Springfield IL as a child in the 60's. With my sister. Never any problems. But that was a different time, no internet, different values. There were few predatory males like Hefner and Guccione and their sexual exploitation of very young women rag publications. Now sexual exploitation is everywhere and is done to both female and male children. Its like the todays predators are outed and they probably think what the do isn't so egregious. Not defending their beyond abhorrent actions by any means. Just think of all the unreported lewd acts. I was affected by a predatory male when I was just 16 and very innocent. It affects me to this day.

I went to church camps as a child and then a counselor and they were wonderful experiences. There are a LOT of good ones. Parents just need to be diligent in knowing what the calls are and known and trust the leaders. You can't paint everything with the same brush.

Get out while you can and don't look back or you will turn into a pillar of salt. May the boy who died rest in peace he is with the angels now.

The Parents are ignorant to think they can't handle their kids so they send them to total strangers how stupid
