    Hi Rick, I received the book a couple of days ago and it's an outstanding reference that I recommend to anyone looking to improve their Power Query skills. You, Gregory and Melissa have done a great job in creating a resource for those who were looking for that "next level" when it comes to PQ.
    Right now I'm doing a deep dive into Chapter 3: Accessing and Combining Data. It's great to be able to fully understand what PQ is doing and how I can improve and optimize a task I do almost daily. So far, just about every chapter has revealed some tip or trick or explanation that will improve my workflow and make my job easier.
    I've taken advantage of your YT and blog content for some time, and Melissa's famous date table has been my go-to solution for a long time. Glad to be able to support your efforts in a small way by buying this book.
    Thanks!

    Thanks for the explanation.
    Was debating about getting it, have it in my wishlst, but was not sure how it compared to the likes of M is for Data Monkey which i already own. This will be a nice addition to my collection.
    Congrats on the publication!

    • @BIGorilla
      @BIGorilla  3 місяці тому

      Hey Erik,
      That's a good question! There's some great M books out there. M is for data monkey (and the revised version of it), then there's Collect Combine and Transform by Gil Raviv.
      And both books do well at explaining how to solve practical problems by using the User interface. Gil Raviv even touches some custom M coding for creating your own functions.
      Yet this book really focuses on the M language itself. The fundamentals of how it works, but also characteristics of data types, values. How you can work with structured values to improve your work flow, create your custom functions, built a connector.
      I'd say this book teaches you M to solve you solutions, whereas the other ones focus on mostly the UI. While they both have their place, this one gives you the skills to understand the coding language behind all the buttons.

    • @aartdevletter5822

      @@BIGorilla Agree. This book won’t be an entry level for people I think - looking at its contents and structure. I work at a large company (over 11.000 employees) and ofc in D&A roles people know M, but often not well enough (eg Me). The real market expansion is at the ones u just mentioned: good old Excel users performing daunting transformations with IF statements, clicks and all kinds of “crap” to be honest. I still havent found a proper way to let people feel the power of M/PQ. Using PBi reports sometimes works, however they dont care about the back-end so to speak
