I feel the guys pain. My car has been sitting for 3 years because I can't afford a transmission for it. I has a brand new 347 stroker that have never got to drive or hear run. Just keep your faith brother. Keep pushing forward never give up on your dream.

That what it's all about !!!! Keep the dream a live . It's not just your car. You are building it, your legacy, because in the end, we are only the caretakers of our builds. We are the last of our generation that builds cars. Build your car ! We all can not afford to do high-end builds. As a workman, you are looking at it the wrong way around. God has blessed you to have 50 hours a week to take care of your family! You are halfway there, stay in the fight, you are not alone!!!!!!

@@MEMPHISBOI_901sometimes things have to sit. Ive got my ranger thats swapped I drive every day but I also have a 2002 Z28 that I got new thats been sitting since march of 2013. It literally just needed an engine but now that it has sat for 11 years, it'll need a lot more and I am just not in a position to get it going. One day maybe. Don't give up in it, just plan accordingly

LMAO. I have a 70 Chevelle that I've been working on for 4 years. I got 22,000 invested and it's still not complete. It can be driven around the yard but that's it. Some guys spend 8 to 10 years working on these cars and alot of painters want to charge 20,000 just for a paint job on these cars.

A lot of times, we are working on our cars for YEARS and still haven't completed it. I don't know this man's age, but I find that the younger generation wants things now, but it takes time to build wealth. I completely understand his frustration, but keep grinding, and good things will come out of it.

Love your content and appreciate your honesty. I think many of us, including me, understand the frustration of affording any upgrades, let alone just keeping them running. Even more challenging these days. Besides that there's always something to learn and admire on Foxcast Media :)

You hit it right on the head! I don’t care how motivated you are, exhaustion will catch up to you in the worst possible way. You’re not alone in this hobby. I purchased a Dart SHP SBF block in 2018 new for $1800.00. Six years later, the same block cost $3500.00 and a SBC costs $3300.00…WTF! It all started with the Biden regime cutting energy production in the United States. Manufacturing, production, and shipping takes energy. The customer is the one getting hit with the bill. The Biden regime put extreme red tape regulations on anything that uses fossil fuels to push their climate change scam!

Man, I love all of your videos they are always very informative. I owned 3 FoxBody's, and I haven't owned one in the last 5 years.. but with that being said, when I was building my cars, it was me and a 2 other buddies of mine. we would part swapp and save and build one another cars just to help our cars get to where we wanted. I now own my own wheel repair company, RWR Restorations LLC, and I am saving to buy my next car.
Word of advice to anyone that desires to build a car never compromise your peace to be a weekend warrior, save your money learn how to do the work yourself or just don't get in to building cars if you can't handle the coast.

I love this rabbit hole. Its what made me a mechanic. I budget about 3k a year. but set a budget, springtime hits go crazy. Its about the journey not the destination. Being broke actually makes it more fun. Barter, trade, save etc. Make friends. Fix cars on the side and grow... It's the Journey!!!!

I just picked up my first Foxbody. A 92 GT. Its nice. I was so exited since the car survived a 4 hour ride home. I’m now replacing the water pump…however I have mechanical knowledge and decent friends. I think overall I can build a 10 second car for under 11K if I do the work myself, trade, and overall just be smart. This channel will become my guide.

I sold my Mustang to settle a divorce and was able to buy it back later when i recovered financially from the divorce. I then became disabled and lost everything, house, cars, and even an eviction from my apartment. All while I was unable to work. My Mustang was the only thing I owned free and clear. My now wife refused to let me sell the car again because she knew what it ment to me. Unable to drive it due not being able to use clutch pedal anymore, a couple of my mustang friends swapped an auto in it for me so I can enjoy it again. I know times are rough for a lot of people right now, me included, in the meantime I'll watch your videos and live vicariously through your videos

If I couldn’t do most of my own work I couldn’t afford it either. I have to save up to buy parts but I enjoy planning waiting and saving. As strange as it may sound it just means more to me when I save up for it and do it myself. I cant do the big ticket stuff like coyote swaps. I do think they are cool but for me they just aren’t realistic. But I enjoy what I have and thats what its all about.

My 04 GT has sat for almost 2 years now. Had the rear end rebuilt with a 31 spline setup by someone else, then installed a brand new walbro fuel pump myself and about a year later, I got bearing noises coming from the rear end. Talk about disheartening. While it sat, other things started to go bad. I've ended up putting on complete new front brakes down to the hoses because the calipers seized up, front hubs, a new upstream oxygen sensor and one downstream, BOTH window motors, battery, various weatherstrippings, about to change the oil again just for good measure and now I'm ready to tackle the rear end on my own this time. Then its gonna need all 4 new tires. Its taken time, working longer days and saving money to be able to get this car back on the road. You just have to do what you've gotta do and be patient. Everything will be okay.

If anyone gets down about how their life is going or is envy or sad because their hot rod hasn't been fixed just be thankful for the food, water , and electricity that you have! Life can be much worse than not being able to afford a Turbo, also with that being said if anyone has a old car that they can't afford to rebuild, sell it and just get a something dated that is fast and runs good - mustang, Audi and just enjoy it as is. .that will save a heap of money vs 10k to get a get classic car back on the road

Some car youtubers come across as having alot of money while others come across as working class. You and Brewtl come across as cool working class guys. The automotive youtubers that come across as having alot of money are the ones who are always buying cars left and right that are typically at the high end of collectability. Some of the hotrod youtubers who come across as having alot of money, are those who are not only youtubers, but public figures in the automotive industry. The public figure aspect is what gives them more disposable income to spend on toys.

When it goes wrong, because racing is the continuous search for the weakest link, you're broke, your car's broke, and you're paying interest for things that aren't even working... Then, you have to sell it all at half price just to work yourswlf 1/2 way out of the hole you dug yourself into.

@@chrisarnold769 I absolutely agree with every thing you say man. It’s little worry some and sucks to think about. But I do ok. I work as a heavy duty mechanic and make about $6000 a month. So yeah it will take me a few months to recover. But I’m absolutely addicted to racing. Im pretty much at every local event plus traveling to compete at some further away events putting down the skills repping for the mustangs. I’m absolutely addicted and wasn’t really ready for the season due to taking on some financial burdens to help others out through the winter.
I understand that it wasn’t the wisest decision but I couldn’t give it up. I love seeing all my buddies at the track, having fun + meeting others. It’s what I love & look forward to more than anything else. Nothing else makes me feel more alive.

God first, forgiveness of sin is key! Don't let the car become an idol...
God knows where He is in the priorities we have...and while families can often be supportive...they can also see where maybe they sacrificed their needs for your wants...and if that doesn't get reciprocated....they can be helpful in exposing some need of a shift in priorities for a greater good. My car has been on back burner for YEARS... and now with college expenses...I'm still trying to determine whether to let someone else take the car for a pittance of what I have in it for the space that a family would see I'm making for them in the way of helping out....but I also don't want them to see just how easy it is for me to let go of things that I've spent time and money on and have the thought that I can just as easily wash my hands of them as well... communication is important....but in the grand scheme of things....all the stuff will go the way of the thief, moth, and flame...
God's Only Son Permits Eternal Life!

Whether its braces for the kids, wifes truck needs repairs, medical bills or latest one was my son needed his own vehicle for going to college. Day after we bought his truck had an 01 bullet turn up that could of gotten instead, same price we paid for his truck.

Man you can't let that email get to you or than a moment of empathy. Most of us are happy for the success of your business/brand. Anyone wanting a thirty, maybe plus, year old sports car, WANTS that car, it's a luxury. In the late nineties and early 2000s I had a shop, primarily car audio, but I drove foxes, we started v8 swapping and injecting older cars by modifying factory wire harnesses. At different points we had over 20 parts/project cars. The fox values then made it unprofitable as often as it was. I was also a contractor and made significantly more money doing that, so I stopped. For the last 20 years I have gotten random calls for parts or cars. Watching you for the last several years, along with those calls I have decided to set up shop again. So thanks for the inspiration to go back into a business that I was passionate about. Keep doing what you're doing, man, it is appropriated.

its a life style i hate to say it but , YOU HAVE TO WANT THIS LIFE STYLE TO GET SHIT DONE! if this is the life style you desire than you have to use your inner crackhead energy and hustle its not for the weak , its 2024 there a million ways to make extra money , we have computers in our pockets every day , it legit took me 8 years to be in the position to build my t top notch(i bought it as a high school graduation present to my self in october of 2015, i didnt get to take my first drive in the car until september 2023 and it happened to be on my birthday , because well life happened) , i use to part foxes and sn95s out, ive flipped swap meet parts, got a second job just to buy car parts , and agreed it should come second when it comes to family and daily necessities, .. also to those who think these cars are built over night , they arent most are built over 5,10 or even 20 years , and sometimes the projects need to go on the back burner. for 1 or 5 years , if you have the means to keep the car do so , if you have car buddies but also know a trade they dont , exchange favors, lots of opportunities out there if you look hard enough.

median household income was $74,580 in 2022 but that money buys you much less standard of living then even 10 years ago. If you are making that you don't have money to waste on these cars. What you see people doing online is mostly a lie. You have to remember having a fox 20 years ago as your only car and doing minor bolt on upgrades yourself is one thing. In 2002 my friends had new f-bodies they were modifying with new parts and I had the 13yr old car with 150k miles repairing things too keep it running. Guys with a fox now as their toy are either wrenching it themselves like me or having pro shops restore their cars. I was quoted $30K just for paint and body work by one of these type places. These cars are just not worth much so even if you can do the work mostly yourself it's a big money loser. I'll probably be in $20K in parts before paint but I can do alot of the work myself in my free time. But this is a long term project unlike people that just write a $60K check to get one totally rebuilt. That sounds crazy but a classic restoration shop in my area just did a fox that needed almost everything for that. And once you get your project complete you better insurance it properly because the last thing you need if a minor wreck to destroy your years of work.

I understand what the guy is saying, but I believe he is taking the wrong approach. Like you said it’s a hobby. We all have different situations and responsibilities. Some of us are luckier than others or our situations warrant little play money. It’s a tough world out there, especially now money is so tight. It’s kinda why I watch UA-cam lol. I have a 1986 t top fox, a car I always wanted. It sits in the garage mostly unfinished waiting until the day that I can dedicate more time and money to it. It hurts looking at it sometimes and when I see people abusing mustangs (whistlin diesel) or complaining about them it does burn a hole in my ass. I don’t get salty though. If I learned anything in life it’s for lack of a better term , karma. If you walk around hating, jealous and all that happy horse shit you will inevitably be stuck in a loop of shit. I view everything I watch as a learning experience. I just stick with that.

I’ve owned my ‘66 for a couple decade, and it been a project the whole time. I never wanted a car to make me miss out on family life.
I worked a full time job, and side-jobs allowed me to save up a little money here and there.
Now I’m close to the finish line.

@@thruitallauto2538this is why it has taken me 5 years just to build a stock 302 powered Ranger. I have 6k in the truck but that counts buying it, all the parts, and its all broken down to smaller amounts over time. Is it fast, kinda but not really, is it pretty, um no, its like 5 different colors from junkyard truck donor panels, is it dependable and fun, all day every day. I want it to be faster and I want it to be nicer but right now its as good as it needs to be and my satisfaction of building it myself without going broke and in debt is worth more than anything

I own a 2003 GT. It’s my passion. I work full time as a mechanic and have a wife and three boys with another wife now the way. My car sat covered from late December until just recently because my throw out bearing blew apart. Took my this long to get McLeod clutch, new cache and ford bearing. Plus I took a day off at work to use my lift to pull the transmission and do it myself. We all have our struggles. You have to want it and work for it.

Bingo!!!!, I work a regular 8 hours a day job and come home to work more. My normal day is usually 13-14 hours and all day most Saturday and Sundays. There was a void in my community for transmission rebuilds and I filled that void. The problem I have now is I over commit myself and rarely have time to work on my own projects. Life can be a double edged sword sometimes. We all have to start somewhere. I to have bought numerous used parts and went without because my kids or wife needed something.

It’s ridiculous, BUT I will say there are still a ton of people who think a heads, cam, intake job is gonna be $1000 out the door, it’s just not physically possible anymore. Especially when doing terminator X kits people are surprised at how much money goes into the kit, parts and also labor to install all of that. Like I said I 100% feel bad, and I also have my own 89 hatch that took 2 years to get together so I 100% know how expensive this stuff is

Sorry Caleb, I know you pride yourself on being self-made, coming from nothing. That one had to hurt, and it was generous of you to take the time to address it. I get what he's saying too. It's hard seeing what all is possible out there and knowing you don't have the money to do it. Wanting to have the best car possible and beat anyone on the street is terribly enticing, especially when you can't do it practically. For me, it took years of suffering in the trenches of car building and frustration for my attitude on it to take a hard left and move towards just wanting something I can enjoy. And you're right, he's not angry at you. Needing to not have all those car goodies in front of him all the time is probably the right move for him at this point. Best of luck to him.

To buy my car, I had to bust my ass, 60 hrs a week. Basicly shelling out every cent I had for 6 months to pay off the car off right away. I bought a car that was like 95% complete, paint job, HCI installed, crate motor. Very clean with 0 rust and also pricey for 10 years ago. But I jumped on it and 10 years later I can say thank God that I did. People dont see the blood and sweat that I paid with for that car when they see me in it. Life aint easy and cars are not cheap.
