Honestly part of the reason I started drawing dragons was because they are 1 my favourite mythical beast and 2 not real so I could make them whatever I want. It's so peaceful to work on something that can bend to whatever mood you are in and just let your mind go off wherever.
Im a florist and wannabe artist. flower/plant paintings in ANY form is some of the most beautiful things. When i struggle i go to nature, look how nature is dealing with problems. I am not a very good painter/drawer, but I do this same sort of thing with coloring pages. I have a couple books that are nothing but floral patterns and mandala or just random doodles and coloring them, shading them, using different mediums, its all very relaxing and soothing to me.
Omg bi art mom posted! Thank you so much I've been stressing over school and this video really calmed me down, the sound effects, the visuals, the paintings, your voice, everything. You're improving so much as well! The little edits like the fake flowers animated on top of the pots is so so cool. Thank you🌸🍀🌹
Legit this entire video was about you loving the chance to paint like you're a kid again. Making art for art sake, not commissions or for youtube or sketchbook story times. Just sitting down and doing it. I love your story about the gels. The thought that we express and take interest in what it is that we love as youngens and then continue to find joy in it even as adults. Little things. I just discovered that I love sculpting earlier this year and I can't believe I never took the hint from 7 year old me who used to build things in class like Sakura's flying wand lmao 20 years later and I make things being in that same mindset, being in flow. I could sit and sculpt for 8 or 9 hours at a time. ANYWAY great video, thank you for sharing. I hope you get the chance to pursue this feeling more and really live in a relaxed and content state.
I love watching artists paint florals like this when I’m stressed. I think it scientifically calms the mind to have a focus like that. I’m gonna try it for myself!
I'm no artist, but I love to color, and doodle flowers to relax. This was so calming and your flowers are so pretty! I'm going to buy a set of watercolors, now! Thank you!!
Emily I love this video so much. ❤ Its so calming watching you paint amd having the snippets of real footage. So beautifully edited! I have a feeling I'm gonna be coming back to this video a few times when I need it.
I so understand, I do the same everyday. It's great to hear your personal experience. I lose myself in the painting and it makes my fibromyalgia, stresses ect. Block out so I have a calm mind. It's a wonderful feeling and I appreciated your thoughts on too big ect. I have my work pieces and my personal pleasure pieces. No stress art. Great video!
Hey Emily! I love your videos! I really enjoy watching them when I feel bad. You always make me laugh but at the same time I feel like I am not the only one with problems...thanks for your videos! Love from Slovakia!!
The length of video is perfect and I love how relaxing it was to watch. In the process of a stressful move so it was nice getting a 20 minute break where I could just listen to you. I haven't felt very creative lately, so I'm living vicariously through you and it made me happy.
Ahhhhhhh, I didn't even notice the length because I was enjoying the video so much, but once you mentioned it, I was like 😍 because you're basically my favorite person on UA-cam.
This is so crazy because I always thought I was insane for having like a wind down, or de stress sketch habit of sketching squid and octopus lol. Something about the simplicity of the shape of the body and the tentacles but also the endless variety of sizes, textures, shapes and so on just really tickles my brain lol. It’s simple enough not to think to much about it, but diverse enough so it’s never monotonous. I have full sketch books filled with nothing but squid and octopus so I can totally relate to certain things just being almost like a safe place to create without having the stress and focus on precision to make it realistic, or unique enough for others to enjoy. Love this videos, and your works of course, and can totally relate!
I don’t usually comment on your videos, but I just had to thank you for this one. I have really bad anxiety, and art helps me calm down, and it was just nice to know that I’m not the only one. Thank you!! 💛💛
Thank you so much for this video, I’ve been very overwhelmed with school ending and today I almost started crying over a few tests because these tests may decide whether or not I take finals and I’ve also been in very stressful group projects that have gotten very stressful for me. Thanks Emily, you’ve helped me avoid a panic attack and I’ll be using this in the future From -A fan
Hi Emily, My name is Kiren and I've been watching you for about a year now. I struggle with ADHD (Attention Defict Hyperactivity Disorder) and Autism. Some people think that there is only one type of Autism, but thats not true. A few years ago, I was bullied and taunted for being "Different'' than other kids. I often get anixious when I go to school or a summer camp, because I'm horrified that I will get teased more. A few things that help me when I'm anxious, is watching you, painting, and figure skating. I always feel like I'm afraid of everything, and this video helped me so much on how to controll my anxiety, (and how to paint some good flowers :) ) Thank you for being the best youtuber ever!
Ordered Regina's palette! I've always been intimidated by water colors above all mediums and impulsively purchased it after this video. Can't wait to try them out. You sold me girl. 💜
Lexie Reinhart this world be my first set! Soon! I’m totes gonna preorder, I just love the colors! I’m a new painter and I wanna get my hands into watercolors. Lol ~ Vanessa (I forgot to sign before, I share an account with my bf) lol
I didn't know bee paper was based in Oregon. That makes it even more appealing for me as I live not to far from Beaverton. This video is so inspiring. I want nothing more than to paint. I broke my dominate arm not long ago so I can't create anything, and it's killing me. Thank you for all that you do. Watching you paint makes my inability to create a little more bearable. 💜
Only 4 minutes and 20 comments! My time to shine but I have no idea! Sooo.. Want to learn a cute German saying? "Du gehst mir auf den Keks" means "You're going on my cookie" and you say it to someone who's slightly annoying.
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful tip and way of cooping! When I'm anxieties I always start drawing patterns (like you see in henna and Mandala's) or doing henna on my arms. I like the patterns, because you don't have to think about it and it is always predictable, because it is the same as you did a second ago! I'm a person who really likes predictability, it calmes my nerves. Thank you for your video! (Sorry for bad english, or grammar errors! Not a native speaker... but know, people from The Netherlands are watching too!)
Watching you paint these was honestly so soothing. Hearing what other people do to help ease their minds and soothe themselves helps a lot, at least for me. It gives ideas of new things to try to manage my own anxiety issues. I draw simple-cute things when I get too stressed or my anxiety gets really bad. Watching art videos helps, too. I like to listen to your vids while I draw those kind of things. I may have to try painting flowers when I'm struggling next time. It's certainly worth a try.
Interestingly enough I started water-coloring just recently to help my anxiety. So this is nice to watch. I do watch videos to figure out how to start or basics of water-coloring but I'm not going to stress myself with being perfect. There is something so nice about pretty flowers forming before my eyes and my stress melting away :) You have such a calming voice and it's nice to listen to you talk through this video. Thanks for sharing yourself with us :)
I really love this style of video! I love your normal story times where you’re very animated, but this has a really soft and soothing tone. It’s really easy to relax and listen to while drawing
the idea is to enjoy what you do, and not worry, if you feed fear then that's what you get and if you feed love that's what you get your work is absolutely amazing!
I have enjoyed many of your videos...but this one is exceptional. Thanks for sharing your practice. I want to give it a try. Thanks also about listing your brushes in the info...I was hoping you would mention them but all is well!
Honestly I love this video so much, I feel like I can resonate with it. I struggle so much with my mental health and art is my was of coping when I'm over stressed. Yet I've never been able to sit and draw/sketch anything (because I'm a sketch artist and haven't got the money for decent watercolour tools) and I've always thought of drawing flowers, however I always freaked out thinking that if it wasn't perfect it wasn't good. Though this made me realise simple and "alien" flowers are just as good and I shouldn't let myself worry. Thank you for the heart to heart xx
Thank you for sharing your coping method. it's hard to talk about anxiety. I am still looking for a coping method that works for me and I think I will try this out ❤
Flower painting is so great. And you're not the only one who gets stressed when there's to much going on and the level of complexity gets way to high (that's how I understood what you said in this video anyway). What a relief that I'm not the only one. Thank you for having that approach to art, that it's supposed to be fun, not master-level-art-or-it's-not-worth-doing-it, this is so refreshing.
This is ... helpfull. You see after a lot things that happened to me I got this feeling like everybody hates me and I hate myself but the only thing that helps me is drawing, but I couldn't focus on it wehn I was upset and cried or just have these anexity attacks but I think I'll try this out. Thank you
Don't hate yourself. Everybody goes through difficult times in their life. When I quit thinking of myself as a victim and realized I was a survivor and quit letting people try to keep me down, I felt a lot better. To this day I have my challenges, and I struggle with things, but I try not to let it get me down too much.
@@MalibuBon I realky try to do that. I tell myself that I'm strong and I am strong but people I concidered friend a long time ago showed me that I'm worthless well and now hera I am. The point is I won't give up but your right I schould start thinking like that. Thank you ^^

I love listening to your videos to calm down and just get into the zone to draw without stressing about proportions and shading and such. I’m the type of artist who works best when I don’t care about what I’m drawing and listening to you just talk and casually converse reminds me of high school when we’d used to just sit and talk about life while painting. Very calming. Thanks Emily. ❤️
Every video I watch of yours inspires me to draw and paint. I lack motivation to create art and after watching these videos I immediately want to do something. Thank you!

honestly the paintings in this video are gorgeous, especially the gradient roses! letting your creativity flow is always so great for experimenting and just having fun with work, at least for me anyway
My life is based in anxiety so I want to help me stay as calm as possible so thank you so much♡ you are such a sunshine Edit: roses are red Violets are blue The rose I just painted Looks like lettuce
I just had a similar revelation this week too! I had a pretty bad start to this week, mental health wise, and I ended up painting flowers for a Mother's day related prop I made. I found that my headspace actually improved so much after that short painting session too. I totally agree - mindlessly painting flowers was definitely such a efficient and useful way of managing my anxiety and depression.
This video always helps me when I'm struggling with old trauma memories resurfacing. The way you talk in this video just calms my mind down and I can draw some plants and animals of my own.
art and music have been my main "medication" if you will for about 10 years now. been feeling blocked and stuck lately especially since covid. thank you for the inspiring video! flowers make me so happy. hope you're doing good.
I'm happy I found your channel. You've helped me remember why I love art, and I hadn't even realized I'd forgotten. Flowers are just fucking great, aren't they? I like to sleep in on the weekends, and my kiddo is old enough that she can get herself breakfast if there are easily available things. I write her notes on the weekend with instructions like how many shows she can have, what she can have for breakfast (orange cut up in fridge in the blue container, pop tarts for a special treat, etc), and reminding her to come get me when she's ready for a hug or wants company. Sometimes I just use plain paper, but a lot of the time I use old sketches or bloopers I wasn't 100% happy with to write the notes over/around. When I'm particularly sad, worried, anxious or just down, sometimes I start stock-piling "stationary" for the weekend notes, and it's usually flowers. :)
I used to watercolor a lot. In fact, when I submitted a portfolio for art school, a bulk of the work was watercolor (got accepted, decided to be music education instead, haha). Since then, I haven't so much as picked up a brush and you have inspired me to get back at it. I started to paint along with this video, doing some succulents and some dainty flowers before moving on to more complex things like roses and even some cattails. I felt my stress and just general world-weariness melt away. I can't thank you enough for making this video. I didn't even realize that I needed it.
I Have Watched THIS VID Over and Over....It Is Very Pleasant To Listen To In The Background, While Straightening Up, As Well. I Sat Down With My Paints And Painted With You 3 x's...ENJOYING "NO STRESS", And Making A Few MOTHER'S Day Cards, That I HAVE BEEN "Stressing" Over, For Day's! I believe they are the Finetec watercolors from her "An In Depth Look At My Art Supplies" video here's a link to the video ua-cam.com/video/4uRdAAVD8E8/v-deo.html she starts talking about them at 8:33
I just started talking with someone about anxiety and this is exactly the mind set she's helping me work towards when my anxiety freaks out on me. I'm going to send her this to pass on to others.
Those are absolutely gorgeous Succulents. I've lost a couple of mine recently, and I'm heartbroken over it. I also used to paint (watercolour), and draw (+alcohol markers) succulents too, and yours are just so beautiful. @jordannefuller if anyone is curious. However, It's been a year, so they're kinda burried. Anyway, I'm only at the beginning of the video and my arms hurt too much 4 type.
I’ve been dealing with an anxiety disorder and making portraits or finished artworks stress me out lately because my focus is not that great. Doing loose flowers and landscapes are perfect because I can make a ton and I don’t have to worry if they’re perfect or not. 💚💚💚 this helped alot. Thank you Emily!
I just started drawing random flowers, vines and things from nature. It is art therapy for sure! I had no idea that there are other people who also do this! I feel much more compelled to keep painting now. Thank you I love the video
I use this video to help me ground when I'm dissociating. Your voice is so calming, most other UA-camrs are too intense, they cause me to feel floaty again. After I've worked to bring myself back but I'm not fully here, it helps to have easy stimulation to help me 'reenter' the common world. music is too intense and stories are too engaging. thank you!

You're improving so much as well! The little edits like the fake flowers animated on top of the pots is so so cool. Thank you🌸🍀🌹
"Bi art mom" 🤣 love that
Legit this entire video was about you loving the chance to paint like you're a kid again.
Dear emily,
Thank you. I have depression and anxiety, and all of your videos inspire me and keep me motivated and helps me keep on going.
This is on a bob ross level of calm thank you so much 😊
Great job Emily with ANOTHER fantastic video! 💕💕💕 This coping mechanism really helped with my anxiety! Great video!
It's so helpful !! I was taught about it when I was younger my therapist was the one who helped me find my art of love when I was 9
I have sats in 2 days and during the practice tests,I always draw flowers and vines on my hand and it definitely relives stress.
I have sats too 😂
Good luck!
It’s really relaxing and satisfying watching you do your magic.
I love watching artists paint florals like this when I’m stressed. I think it scientifically calms the mind to have a focus like that. I’m gonna try it for myself!
I do the same to relax or calm down... Either watercolor flowers or repetitive, simple, psychedelic patterns😊🌸💐🌹
Thank you!! 💛💛
I can't stop watching this. It makes me relax in a way.
Thank you so much for this video, I’ve been very overwhelmed with school ending and today I almost started crying over a few tests because these tests may decide whether or not I take finals and I’ve also been in very stressful group projects that have gotten very stressful for me.
Thanks Emily, you’ve helped me avoid a panic attack and I’ll be using this in the future
From -A fan
Hi Emily,
My name is Kiren and I've been watching you for about a year now.
Lexie Reinhart I wanted to buy one and it’s sold out! I’m glad though! Lol
@@Moxbox99 pre-order for the next one. I have no experience in watercolors but I loved how I was able to work them!
Lexie Reinhart this world be my first set! Soon! I’m totes gonna preorder, I just love the colors! I’m a new painter and I wanna get my hands into watercolors. Lol ~ Vanessa (I forgot to sign before, I share an account with my bf) lol
Her art works are soooooooooooo beautiful
Awww I love these it’s like you’re my big sister and you know what’s up
The sheer joy I have knowing I have a artful video to watch
Love the heart to heart intro 🖤 also, glad you've learned a healthy way to cope!
Richtig
You're going on my cookie?! That sounds cute!! Like something I'd say to my son! Which would work because sometimes he's annoying! xD
@@emilyartful I know right?! And they say German is ugly!
Now that you said it, it definitely sounds like something you'd say to a child haha
You go me on the cookie :)
I put it into a translator, and it says "You walk me on the biscuit"...??????
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful tip and way of cooping! When I'm anxieties I always start drawing patterns (like you see in henna and Mandala's) or doing henna on my arms. I like the patterns, because you don't have to think about it and it is always predictable, because it is the same as you did a second ago! I'm a person who really likes predictability, it calmes my nerves. Thank you for your video!
(Sorry for bad english, or grammar errors! Not a native speaker... but know, people from The Netherlands are watching too!)
Love the video. So relaxing to watch and listen to. Perfect in the middle of the night. Length is good as well.
Thank you for this video
Interestingly enough I started water-coloring just recently to help my anxiety. So this is nice to watch. I do watch videos to figure out how to start or basics of water-coloring but I'm not going to stress myself with being perfect. There is something so nice about pretty flowers forming before my eyes and my stress melting away :) You have such a calming voice and it's nice to listen to you talk through this video. Thanks for sharing yourself with us :)
Ah! I do the same but with trees! I'll give this a try though, I have some pink tulips sitting on my windowsill to paint
I really love this style of video! I love your normal story times where you’re very animated, but this has a really soft and soothing tone. It’s really easy to relax and listen to while drawing
Anxiety: hi
Me: hecc
Me: *puts on Emily artful videos because mmmhhh vocal fries*
the idea is to enjoy what you do, and not worry, if you feed fear then that's what you get and if you feed love that's what you get your work is absolutely amazing!
Thank you ^^
@@yaari6680 If someone tries to put you down this is what I tell them to be polite, 'I'm sorry you feel that way'. It acknowledges how they feel and don't let their opinion matter to you anymore than their arm pit does. If I realize someone is trying to make me doubt my self esteem, a smug smile and ''yeah...right' can shut them up. Maybe they are jealous of you!
@@MalibuBon My only problem is. I'm a very shy person and I really try my best but your right. Their opinion doesn't matter ! I know who I am right ? And I'm not like what they think I am.
I do this too :)
I love how ur open about ur mental health.
Every video I watch of yours inspires me to draw and paint. I lack motivation to create art and after watching these videos I immediately want to do something. Thank you!
I love your vidoes. You inspire me so much. I love drawing when watching your videos❤💖
I have a really bad anxiety disorder and you have really helped me through a lot of tough times, thank you. ♥️
Im watching this while waiting for my mom to get home cuz i forgot my keys
Edit:guys i rlly gotta pee
Edit 2: GUYS I GOT BACK IN BUT MY KEYS WEREN'T WHERE THEY SHOULD HAVE BEEN IF I HAD LEFT THEM SO I LOOKED IN MY BREST POCKET AND IT WAS THERE
honestly the paintings in this video are gorgeous, especially the gradient roses! letting your creativity flow is always so great for experimenting and just having fun with work, at least for me anyway
this whole video i was like "WHERE IS THIS BUZZING FLY OH MY GOD"
and then i realized
*it was you*
I thought I was going insane 🙆🏾♀️
I'm not sure that you realize how helpful and supportive you are, at least for me. And I'm not only talking about watercolor. Thank you love.
Thank you for this. It’s super helpful! I’ve been wondering how you make your gorgeous flowers.
a store near me just started carrying bee paper and i wasn’t sure if it was worth giving a try, but now i can’t wait to pick some up!
My life is based in anxiety so I want to help me stay as calm as possible so thank you so much♡ you are such a sunshine
Edit: roses are red
Violets are blue
The rose I just painted
Looks like lettuce
idk how but kind looks like a labia
@@aformerhiro7383 labia? That's not a convincing skill? I don't know how to feel LOL 💀 is it bad?
I just had a similar revelation this week too! I had a pretty bad start to this week, mental health wise, and I ended up painting flowers for a Mother's day related prop I made. I found that my headspace actually improved so much after that short painting session too. I totally agree - mindlessly painting flowers was definitely such a efficient and useful way of managing my anxiety and depression.
I'm studying art therapy for my profession❤️
This video always helps me when I'm struggling with old trauma memories resurfacing. The way you talk in this video just calms my mind down and I can draw some plants and animals of my own.
U are so beautifully amazing I wish I knew you in real life.
art and music have been my main "medication" if you will for about 10 years now. been feeling blocked and stuck lately especially since covid. thank you for the inspiring video! flowers make me so happy. hope you're doing good.
OK, this is really unrelated to the video, but you are so beautiful! You look like you live in such an amazing area :)
I do this with little candies. I always randomly draw them to relax
Yay a new video :)
Cool !
I was just watching your other videos XD
I can’t even tell you how much I want to like this video more than once!!
yay
I Have Watched THIS VID Over and Over....It Is Very Pleasant To Listen To In The Background, While Straightening Up, As Well. I Sat Down With My Paints And Painted With You 3 x's...ENJOYING "NO STRESS", And Making A Few MOTHER'S Day Cards, That I HAVE BEEN "Stressing" Over, For Day's! Now They ARE DONE...I Can Say "BRING IT" To Today! THANK YOU!
Srry last Q I promise. What is dat metallic paint?
I have trouble sleeping but when I watch your videos and hear your soothing voice my mind slows down so I can finally rest.
Hallo
Hi
Nhoulihan 27 yo
I’ve been dealing with an anxiety disorder and making portraits or finished artworks stress me out lately because my focus is not that great. Doing loose flowers and landscapes are perfect because I can make a ton and I don’t have to worry if they’re perfect or not. 💚💚💚 this helped alot. Thank you Emily!
Oh God I am early!
This has to be my favorite art video on youtube. I had a super stressful week and now I'm happily painting flowers thanks to you
Holy im early.
Honestly, this is probably the best way to paint flora and it IS very relaxing. Thank you much!
I think it is wonderful that you feel comfortable with your subscribers that you ca make a video like this. Enjoy being in your own skin.
I just started drawing random flowers, vines and things from nature. It is art therapy for sure! I had no idea that there are other people who also do this! I feel much more compelled to keep painting now. Thank you I love the video
Why does this channel cure my anxiety?
I use this video to help me ground when I'm dissociating. Your voice is so calming, most other UA-camrs are too intense, they cause me to feel floaty again. After I've worked to bring myself back but I'm not fully here, it helps to have easy stimulation to help me 'reenter' the common world. music is too intense and stories are too engaging. thank you!
