Awesome review as always Bryan, a tad harsh, but that's what I love about your channel, you don't sugar coat every single bike you get to ride. What's the ground clearance on the SCR? I could swear that it was higher on other videos, but it almost looks just as short as the Bolt.
I think this gentleman is missing the real picture of this bike. It’s a scrambler mate, that is the whole point you can’t review this bike in a motor way it’s unfair for the bike and for your back.
I agree the XSR700/900 round gauge should be on this bike & A nice set of twin exausts would finish this bike off perfectly if yamaha had enough brains to make it stock this way!
I learned the hard way there....everything from the knuckles to the finger tips, pushed off the bone....sat and watched a nurse cutting the flesh and skin round my nails, and laying it back on the bone....not nice, wear gloves and the rest!
At first glace, competition to Harley's Roadster came to mind. lol But then upon a closer look, it seems to be in it's own niche. As you stated, kind of in the scrambler territory. I love that it has more aggressive adventure bike tires on it. I LOATHE that stupid speedometer! hahaha! That bike needs an old school white face with black numbers speedo. :-D GREAT review, very thorough! You do some of the absolute best most detailed bike reviews of everyone I watch. And you put many other "highly paid professional reviews" to shame. lol
I had an old 75 dt250 with an orange tank that nearly looks identical to these in red. But the Speedos then we're of course dials with black faces and white lettering.
No problem. You just have to spend a couple hundred dollars an buy a Koso (ebayit) and your ok. You even have a rev counter and gear info. It just plug in (set it) and go....
Hey Bryan, I demo'd the SCR and here are my impressions: The SCR is a full hipstering of the Bolt (sorta like the XSR is a slight hipstering of the FZ-09). Everything Yamaha got right on the XSR they got wrong on the SCR. I wish I had rode its donor, the Bolt, to be completely objective. But taken on its own merits it is not a good motorcycle IMHO. Yes, it's a cruiser at heart. I'm not opposed to that. But the mid controls stick out WAY to much. So much so that when you come to a stop you are trying to figure out how to not spike you shins and ankles with the controls. It's a learning curve. It can be done. But really, why? It was not slow, it didn't brake horribly, it didn't steer terribly. Again, it's a cruiser at heart. But isn't the point of a scrambler-style bike to be small and sorta agile? And the seat! It was HARD as hell AND narrow! Give me one or the other but not both. I guess hipsters want to feel uncomfortable to validate the experience. That shit ain't for me. The SCR is irrelevant when you have a motorcycle as good as the XSR in the same stable. True, the SCR is cheaper by almost $800. But if money is the issue just buy a Bolt C-Spec if you want hipster cred.
You keep saying "low cost" but you also said eight and a half. Isn't that in the Harley 883 Iron/Sportster price bracket? Do you feel Harley cut the same corners you point out to in the Yamaha (loose cables, cheap switches) to get the Iron our at around $9K i.e. "low cost"?
CorkKNIFE I purchased a new 2017 scr for $4500 from a dealer in southern Illinois. I am very happy with it. The seat is stiff as others have mentioned.
@@scottb4023 I'm looking to possibly get one out here in California. What were the originally asking for the bike? Most places out here have em at $4,999
Looking at that wal-mart gauge, really makes me want to puke. I think Yamaha was in a hurry to push out new models to compete with other fine offerings from other manufactures.
Was looking at this and the triumph scrambler for a bike to ride around town, to work, gym, etc. Settled on the Triumph. Just couldn't get past that ugly gauge. The Triumph was also way more enjoyable to ride.
Yamaha could of had done much better for almost 9 grand that's ridiculous the fit and finish/speedometer Look at the street twin for the same price you get a much better bike.
TwoWheelObsession this bike isn’t tall at all, I own an SCR950 I scrape pegs and bottom out the suspension every day...... the subframe is mounted really high though.
Yamaha is brilliant running a demo day at the local flannel convention.
You mean plaid convention
Great video. How does this not have more views? How do you not have more subscribers??
Thanks for putting these videos together for us.
The second you feel the buzz, you shift up, that's how a cruiser works. not a cruiser bike, but still a cruiser motor.
He says it kinda looks like a scrambler. Isn’t that why it’s called the SCR, SCRambler?
A retro 950 scrambler.

I think the knobby tires contributes to the vibration. I heard from people who owns the bike, changing the tires completely eliminates the vibes.

Other reviews pretty much say it's a terrible scrambler, so....
I would take the XSR 900 or 700 over this any day just because the SCR905 uses the Bolt engine making it top heavy and sluggish (think cruiser).
Any suggestions for luggage on this bike.
an old lady ?
$6k BRAND NEW at my local dealer right now......hmmm smh
What's with the two feet down on these rides ... always? In Canada you fail your tests if your right foot ever leaves that peg / brake.
why do you fail because of that...

Ok , Ok I'm a convert . Not a total revisionist , but I think you really nailed this one . Thanks

Wow these guys never heard of road rash, did they?

That naff bolt speedo ruins the whole look
Vibration comes from over-revving. Shift!!
Superrps31 mine is very smooth well when it was stock
This dudes a hater that thing has the best power in every gear ever erode a Yamaha raptors take of mine I can will lie
Sorry y’all not good grammar spelling but I can do anything to u bikes
@@brandonnelson4728 "the best power"..... hmmm. How many bikes have you ridden?
What is the seat height of this motorcycle?
Your hands are buzzing because you are shifting at really high revs. You could shift at half those revs.
i wood like to have 2017 yamaha scr 950 how much is it
I understand now why you can pick these up for $3k-$4k

If You are serious about riding you will love it , but if you are looking for car-like riding Just get a carb and stop wining
Loved review - thank you - very helpful
come l hai trovata questa moto?
This is good content. Thanx man✊🏾
It matches the bike, that's what they were going for with the speedo. I can agree though, I like the classic clock speedo better.
Omg if this bike had a analog speedo.........I would friggen love it!!

love your reviews! any chance of trying a Suzuki gsxs 1000f .
Lots of plaid in the video. Are they making their target audience mainly hipsters?
Yes.
Hipster squids
Better than dirty cheap leather vests
Plaid is very popular on this demo ride lol, Three test riders in plaid, the two guys in front of you actually have matching plaid shirts LOL!.
LOL, right? I can't believe they would even let these, Noob Plaid Shirted Hipster Wannabe Squids on these bikes, sheesh.
Not only matching shirts, but matching pants and shoes as well. Mom must have dressed them that day.

The only reason I don't have an xsr is we don't have the 700 in the states!!!
Agree to disagree

i keep my old bmw r60/61976, it just run,,,,
Yeah.. speedometer is awful.. what were they thinking??

When you say it reminds you of duelsport, you mean vintage , like a bultaco ? right 😄 not a moder day duel...lol
Cool ride. But for the money. Some of those moto guzzis. Looked so much more substantial. And I mean the bobber style motos
looks like a modern version of my 1974 cb550....s
Theres gonna be tons of these types of new-vintage bikes on craigslist in 10 yrs
Yamaha could of had done much better for almost 9 grand that's ridiculous the fit and finish/speedometer
Look at the street twin for the same price you get a much better bike.
wow at 5k i want one NOW!
First he says, "It's really tall." Next he says, "It's bottoming out." This dude's confusing.
You are confused, because you obviously don't know those are two different things.
TwoWheelObsession this bike isn’t tall at all, I own an SCR950 I scrape pegs and bottom out the suspension every day...... the subframe is mounted really high though.
I was going to buy one until I looked at the gauge,...THE WORST info dash on any motorcycle. Yes, that ruined the bike for me.
its a low rev motor ,, keep up changing to avoid vibes.i agree the dash and mirrors are a joke;;;;
I really need to stop watching these demo ride reviews.
