I had a close friend/ coworker who got a kidney from his wife. No waiting. They said she was a perfect match. So some of us were involved in periferal things to help them. It was a real education. Then my friend and his wonderful wife left our little town and moved to someplace near Portland, Oregon where there is a good support community for transplants, dialysis, etc. The company we worked for was NOT noted for their understanding, helpfulness in time of trouble, etc. BUT this was a notable exception, and my friend got the royal treatment. We are thankful for that. My friend confirmed what you said, that the surgeons didn't remove any kidneys, but just added the new one. I also wanted to thank you for showing quite a lot of Mennonites, Amish and probably others. It is interesting the varieties of plain clothing, transportation, and other things. My church is in a small town not at all near any other Anabaptists. So I enjoy any information about "how the other half lives." You are in my prayers.
