You are supposed to check chain tension while you are on the bike. More chains, sprockets, output shafts and seals have been ruined by having the chain too tight, than crashes caused by the chain coming off😮

I have a dr350 and someone tells me my chain is too loose every time I stop for gas. Wait until I put my fat ass on it and look again, chief.

@@MrTravis789 ideally it should be checked at exactly the halfway point through the suspension stroke. It’s pretty much impossible for one person to check it while on the bike, that’s why the manual gives you a specification while it’s on the stand, it should be fine at that magical midpoint.

Nice job on my Dr I've had the clutch slipping issue before with already new clutch plates and put in new heavy duty springs and fixed it right up.

Moto Bandito it’s not ideal, but it has held up for a few thousand street miles. I’m sure some difficult single track would put an end to the clutch in quick order. A new heavy duty clutch is going in soon.

What's a good carb rebuild kit to buy? I just picked up a 91' dr350 that's been sitting for 20 years

Take the carburetor apart and clean it, I rarely buy rebuild kits. If you need individual parts then you can just buy what you need.

google Greg Bender This Old Tractor for a cheap resource for all the orings you will need in a cheap kit

I need a buddy like Tom to fix my collection of parts/bike. Haha! Good job bro. Jetting a carb seems like witchcraft. Stock jetting for the BSR36? Where do I get the big bore kit, is that the 440?

Not pinging on anybody's stature since am only 5'8" but your buddy is sitting while kicking the DR. Mine is like 35" and no way I could sit. Is your buddy that tall or is the bike lowered? And if its lowered could I get some tips? Thanks!

Just had a 1991dr350 given to me, to get TDC , apparently pull in the decompression levee kick it until it pops out.and kick it over w the chock out. If it fires or shows sign of life, push the chock in , pull the decompression lever until it pops out .then kick.tbe bike over .It should start. If not pull it w a truck and MAKE ER RUN!!
that's where I'm at. Good luck!!!

this is such a struggle to watch someone try to kick start a bike like this. it might be easier to start if you bring it to top dead center first. especially with a single. and give it a really good kick instead of these half ass kicks. fucking try and start it! like an old harley. stand on the right side swing arm and get your whole body on top of the kick lever and put your wait into it. I suppose ive struggle starting a 1985 Xt600 with a dirty carb, but it definitely makes the motor turn over.

matias shanahan the original Mikuni TM33 had a worn out carb body where the slide goes. It’s a fairly common issue on that carburetor and causes erratic idle and surging at higher speed. We had this carburetor available and wanted to try it. It’s been working great, my buddy is very happy with the results.

    • @TomsTinkeringandAdventures

matias shanahan the Keihin FCR39 is the carburetor for the DRZ400E. We used the Mikuni BSR36 from the DRZ400S. Completely different carburetors.
