Ah, that opening take-off was of Fyfe Robertson, the inveterate reporter who came to notice country-wide in the first version of the Tonight TV news documentary programme at its heyday in the early 1960s, each week reporting from a different wind-swept place. Many people, including the BBC, chose to forget the pioneering work of Tonight with Cliff Michelmore, because for archive presentations it was only in black and white, and the programme name was revived some 25 years later in colour which looked far sexier! Imitations of Fyfe Robertson or Alan Whicker, who debuted on Tonight, were legion.
