Apologies - my UA-cam settings went haywire after posting this vid & UA-cam seem to have removed some comments? I’ve no idea why? But most seem to be back now, despite the numbers not showing that? For any who may have had issues commenting, it should all be okay now? Many thanks 👍🏻
It's funny how people see things differently when it comes to art. I think the likeness looks perfect and will be quite happy when mine arrives. Love your channel and I watch your videos everyday. We collect the same stuff lol
Hey there, cheers matey for watching & commenting, really appreciate it 👍🏻 Yeah, it is, it seems that people do see things differently with face sculpts, as long as it looks good, it doesn’t really bother me mate. Cheers again 👍🏻
I decided to order this from BBTS but desk only version. That was more withing my price range at the moment. It won't be anything like this but I am sure I will love it. Your video helped to pull the trigger. Thanks!
Hi Jase, another great video and an amazing sculpt. Weta are truly a name you associate with brilliant art pieces, as you've said the attention to detail is breathtaking, but... so is the price!! As great as the piece is I just can't bring myself to pay that amount of money for a sculpture, it is way out of my price range, and as this video was posted 2 years ago, I dread to think what the price of it is now!! I totally understand the whole argument about if you want quality pieces then they do come with a heavy price tag, I mean it's not like you'll ever find something so amazing as a Weta sculpture at your local B & M store! You say in your review that you hate to be critical but at £900 you've every right to be, but for me at this moment in time I'm gonna have to opt for window shopping. If there was a Weta piece I would have loved to have owned it would have been that beautiful sculpture of Smaug which if my memory serves me well was a wall mountable piece as well as free standing. That really was a stunning piece of art, but being Weta it wouldn't be anything else, but as usual I was late to the party and as it had been a few years since it's relese when I discovered it, the prices for it were just insane but it was a beautiful piece of art. I'm sorry Jase, I do ramble on, great video, brilliant sculpture, overwhelming price, but hey, you do get what you pay for, and who knows maybe one day I might own a piece of Weta's art. To this day I still love watching the behind the scenes at Weta on the LOTR and Hobbit making of extras, their workmanship is second to none, Take Care buddy😊
Oh superb news dude!! You’ll just love it mate!! I’m blown away by the level of detail and attention to detail!! Cheers for dropping me a comment matey, always appreciate hearing from you guys 👍🏻
For sure Weta pieces are never cheap, but the details in this are amazing. Some companies seem to price their pieces solely on size, and as big as some of them are, you're still left wondering how those with simple designs can justify their prices. But with this you can aee the amount of work that must have gone into making each of these.
Had me bit worried there at the start, but glad you had that change of heart! It really is a top looking piece. As always a great review, in fact I would go as far as to say you have defo found your groove with your reviewing style. Still to unbox mine though, got distracted with episodes of Midsomer Murders on telly today! LOL
Hey there mate! Ah cheers man, really appreciate you saying that! 👍🏻 Yeah, as I get more experience with unboxing & reviews I’m hoping to improve? I have actually filmed another one (yesterday), but will leave it a day or two before I load it onto channel, as it’s a bit heavy unboxing/reviews at the mo! 😆 Cheers again matey 👍🏻
I initially passed on this statue due to space constraints and other items on PO/coming in, but I just recently had another opportunity to buy this awesome statue and I decided to go for it. I fully agree with you: this is truly a magnificent piece! The level of detail is imho very close to some of the MC statues. I was comparing details between this statue and my Escape of the Road and this statue is not far off overall and on par on certain elements. I’m very happy that I was able to add this piece to my collection!
Hey dude! Huge congrats on getting this piece! 👍🏻 I usually don’t go for the ‘lighter’ side of LotR, vastly preferring the darker side and villains etc but I just love this piece! Amazing detail throughout! Cheers for the comment buddy 👍🏻
Hi Jason, Many thanks again to you for a wonderful unboxing and review as always. Could you please send me all the physical dimensions of this piece ? I am considering a custom display case for mine and still have a few months of waiting until it arrives. Many thanks.
Yes mate, I’m just out the door to work, but I’ll sort that out for you once I get home. Many thanks for your kind words dude, always hugely appreciated 👍🏻
Okay, it’s not the easiest piece to measure accurately - so these measurements are not exact. So, it’s approx is 18”L x 16”W x 14”H Hope this helps dude? 👍🏻
Mine arrived Friday. Beautiful piece of art. Only gripe is damaged to art box which could have been avoided with foam corner protectors. Also for the price the box art need to be stronger. Very thin for such a weighty item
Hey there, thank you for leaving comment dude, really appreciate it 👍🏻 Ah mate, glad you’ve got yours and you’re chuffed with it! It is a superb piece indeed!! Cheers once again dude 😁👍🏻
As a big lord of the rings/the hobbit fan thank you so much for this. Yes it is overpriced but i would have regretted not buying this beautiful piece. Congratulations my friend.
Would you like to know what I like most about your videos? It's not the statues (though they are amazing) but it's just listening to you talk about them and Lord of the Rings in general. You are such an amazing conversationalist. I can honestly just sit and listen to you talk Lord of the Rings for hours. That said I'm so glad you gave this piece a second look. It's simply breathtaking! I considered the regular version but I've yet to grab the Classics Ringwraith and that must come first. I currently have Gandalf from the classics line and, wow, I'm just continuously amazed by what Weta is doing with this collection. Speaking of which, have you seen their upcoming Classics Aragorn? WOW! The moment I saw it, I thought of you (don't have many people I can chat Lord of the Rings statues with). I preordered him straight away. I can hardly wait.
Hi mate - huge thanks for all your kind words in that comment, also huge thanks for watching & commenting - I really appreciate it! I have seen it mate and have just covered it briefly on my latest vid! I shan’t be going for it personally, as I have the Prime 1 Aragorn coming soon. I think Weta are doing amazing work all round at the moment!!! I can’t wait to see what they unveil in the future!! I’m always here to chat LotR dude!!! 😁👍🏻 Thanks again my mate, really appreciate you taking the time to write this comment 👍🏻
Nice review! I also liked your unboxing video of this piece. Still waiting for mine, should be delivered within a week or two. I actually feel the opposite of you in regards to this and EotR. So far, I've been somewhat underwhelmed by the Weta Master Collectors pieces. None of them have been showing an essential scene for me and I don't think they have justified the price tag Weta is asking for. Though I will say that EotR is the best Masters Collector piece so far. But in comparison to Bilbo in Bag End, I don't think the details of that piece are nearly as interesting. Like, it's obvious that all the roots and the tree look really great. But compare that to the details to Bag End, how you get some visual details of the construction, the plants and a tiny bit of the garden, the chimney bricks and the mole on the back... There are just so many details that I think are brilliant. I would even be happy if Weta had made a larger and thus more expensive version of this piece. Also, while I agree that the resemblance to Ian Holm is not 100 % there, I like it more than any of the Hobbits from EotR. At least from what I've seen in all the videos so far. Cannot wait to get this myself 🙂
Hi there matey & thank you for watching and for such a very in-depth comment in regards to the Weta pieces covered so far, really appreciate you sharing your views on these pieces. 👍🏻 Yes, it’s always the interesting things hen it comes to art, that we all have our own individual perspectives and likes/dislikes etc It’s probably that I love the ‘darker’ elements to the Lord of the Rings that I am swayed more by EotR than BBiBE? But, the latter, as you rightly say, is just oozing with amazing details!! Thank you once again dude, really appreciate you taking the time to comment 👍🏻
Cheers my mate!! Yes, it’s seriously superb! And of course, as you rightly say, everything is going up in price these day, just felt I had to point out what I felt was the minor issues in regards to pricing this item. Cheers as always dude 👍🏻
Yesterday I saw the classic one in person and I was surprized how big it was.
Ahh okay mate… yeah this one’s a good size mate, I forget the exact weight, I think it’s around 20kg?…
