1994-1996 Buick Roadmaster...The CHEAPEST Impala SS You'll ever find!!

- Опубліковано 15 вер 2024
- have you ever dreamed of owning an impala SS, but couldn't afford the ridiculous prices they are going for?
then i have just the car for you! 1994-1996 Buick roadmaster! literally riding on the same platform as an impala ss with the same engine and even more luxurious interior.
you can have all of those things for 3 times the cheaper price!
I just picked up a free, yes free 95 Roadmaster with supposed headgasket issues. It was a cracked $3.99 plastic coolant T by the overflow reservoir. It runs, drives, stops perfectly. No smoke, no ticks, strong trans. Plus freezing cold ac and no rust! Score baby! My $4 LT1 sleeper land yacht.
You so lucky!
@ChipDouglas-lw9xhstill running exactly the same as the day I got it. These cars are so under rated. Granted the rear end/tail lights look pretty grandma but damn it I have an irrational love for this tank.
In 15 years you'll be making a comparison video explaining that the Chrysler 300 and the Dodge Charger were essentially the same car.
Very true!
Well you're NOT wrong.....the 300 and Charger are the same car
That is true. I mean it is like comparing a Chevy and gmc
@Mahmood Y.H Interestingly enough, the 300/Charger share a lot of similarities to the Caprice/Roadmaster/Fleetwood. They're both full-size, RWD cars, available V8 power, sitting on a platform unchanged from 20 years prior. The body on frame chassis under the Roadmasters is essentially unchanged from 1977, and was also used under the 1973 "colonnade" midsize vehicles. Apart from the modern instrumentation, the airbag, and the modern seats, the driving experience was very similar to a 1970s vehicle.
@Mahmood Y.H Unfortunately, I think that era of V8 Powered full size cars will be coming to an end in the next few years. All the full size cars are going to Turbo V6s, and in another 15 years, most cars sold will be hybrids or electric....and possibly, God forbid...driverless. Let's enjoy it while we can.
5 days after watching this. Im buying a 94 with only 48k miles for $3000!!! Its mint!!!
If u haven't purchased it yet I suggest only getting a 96 because they are OBD2 rather than Obd1 which makes troubleshooting much easier .
@@lebrun960 im buying it from an estate sale. The guy took great care of it
Well then enjoy her they are great cars
Awesome man! I have a 94 as well that I bought in Sept. of 2012. She's not pretty anymore but she fires right up every time & runs well. Enjoy.
That's a great buy.
Also don't forget about the 1994-96 Cadillac Fleetwood as it has the same LT1 engine you'd find in the Impala SS & Buick Road master. These cars i have owned them for many years and still enjoy daily driving them for many many years to come.
Don't forget the Caprice, too! Same car, different trim.
The Fleetwood LT1 unfortunately runs on premium fuel. Which is what Cadillac usually does. So you pay an exponential amount to keep the car driving daily. It's very annoying. I had a Deville and a Fleetwood that I got rid of because of that.
Yes you can change the engine mapping with an AEM so that it runs on regular. But I'm not interested in that garbage anymore.
@@asmongoldsmouth9839 I have had a 96 Fleetwood and currently own a 95. They both take 87 gasoline which is also confirmed per the owner's manuals. You may be mistaking these for the Northstar which came on the Deville you mentioned. Definitely a more high maintenance engine.
And just like that, Buick Roadmasters will skyrocket in price
@bradley hall That was the year before the LT1 was put into them. 500 dollars though.. not shabby!
I just bought one. A 1994 Buick RoadMaster. It’s got 142k miles. The engine runs smooth and it’s definitely a grandpa cruiser. Although earlier today I want to check the engine out. So while driving home from work. There was a driver who pulled out in front of me. No big deal. I waited for my chance and just blew right past her while she was looking at her phone. While driving. The V8 limited edition is sick. Quiet and fast. It’s gone be a great car to work on. Everything is good on it but the radiator. There is a slight leak. That’s my next project. Other than that. She runs like a top!!
I just got a green 96' for $1000 with all the bells & whistles! Runs like a Beast!
I hate I sold my limited edition 1994 Buick Roadmaster! It was white with a burgundy quarter top, burgundy leather and wood trimmed interior, LT1, with posi-traction rear end. I had it since 2006 and never had to do any work to it other than regular maintenance; tune up, oil change, and tires I sold it 3 years ago. The power and smooth ride that it had was impressive!
Love my 96 Buick Roadmaster sedan. The LT1 engine is pretty damn awesome. I paid $1800 for it about 8 years ago with about 130,000 miles. Has over 160,000 now and still hauls arse
Bro I payed a flat stack (1000) and sold my GMC Canyon 2004 truck (bought it for 2500 sold for 1800) so happy not even complaining I got a Chevy express 2014 to haul if I need to it’s in the family business
I'm buying me one tomorrow
Bro...you gotta stop making these videos. You’re giving away all the sweet sleepers!! Lol also don’t forget about the Cadillac Fleetwood in that same year range… Those cars are just as cool and if not cooler than the Roadmaster!
Yeah but a fleetwood is 10k+
You're right lol
you also frogot the oldsmobile custom cruiser
My dad had a 95 fleetwood and it sounded and drove beautifully. And it had some torque to it when you put your foot to the floor. I think it ended up having a hole in the exhaust and a bad catalytic converter.
Quit spitting lies. The Fleetwood was fugly & junk
I cruise around in my Roadmaster every single day. I have put 12,000 miles on it in 18 months. It starts up in -40 without being plugged in and every features works like new including ice cold AC and blistering heat.
I just rolled 200,000 miles on it last week. SBC and a B body are immortal combo.
What's it get on gas mileage?
@tokyojapan6734 my family had one with the regular 5.7. 1993 model. It went through 7 gallons of gas in 2 weeks somehow. It was our daily keep in mind.
I can't believe I never wanted any 4 door sedan back when these were new. Now, if I could, I'd have pretty much "one of each" of the cars you mention in your videos!
i fall victim to my own videos as well brother lol
I'm almost always on a car finder website looking for the cars you feature to see if any local and cheap enough to justify
@@MrRandomReviews won't be any left for cheap cause YOU TELLIN EVERYBODY!😂😂😂
I've never driven a car that rides as nice as a Buick Roadmaster. Till this day! If not for GM's Opti spark, I'd still own one. Best highway car from that era.
@Ryan Johnson yup texas panhandle i did it for like an hour straight
Iv seen optis with over a hundred thousand miles on then multiple times, the opti is fine its just the water from the water pump that kills them, try getting a hundred thousand miles out of a traditional distributor cap??
@@wagonlife2778 No, trust me I get it. There's usually a reason for failure. My last Opti failed to show the low resolution signal on an oscilloscope. The Mitsubishi sensor failed - not common. The Optispark distributor was an great idea but a lot was left on the table. I'd rather change out a traditional distributor cap/entire unit any day...
Love my 96 roadmaster sedan, got rid of that limiter as fast as I could. Had the old girl to 155 a few times
I'm about to do the same what tires are you runing?
Austin Bost last time I had it going that quick it had Goodyear eagles on corvette rims
@@stevedzubryk821 haha that's great do you have a video? You dont get to see the roadmasters reach those speeds too often
Austin Bost probably do somewhere
@@austinbost4653 They don't call it the Roadmaster for nothing! 😊
Just bought a ragged out 94 with 242k miles for $270 bucks. Best money ever spent ever ever.
93 96 Cadillac Fleetwood
Impala, Caprice, Roadmaster are the same🤔
You forgot the Pontiac Parisienne.
@@MadMax-fm8uz I've heard about it but I have never seen one up close and personal on that body style. The only other one that I have seen that is not mentioned here is Oldsmobile made a custom Cruiser wagon. Had no basis in relation to any sedans that I'm aware of but certainly another B body big car available on that platform. Myself I would be a little torn between a Buick Roadmaster or a Cadillac Fleetwood but I'm the type that has a hard time leaving well enough alone and if it actually came with 350 multi-port instead of the LT1 I would probably have to swap in one of the older division engines such as a 472 or 500 in the case of a Fleetwood or a 455 stage one in the case of a Buick Roadmaster
@@eddieschwab864 I almost bought a new Roadmaster Wagon back in 92. One of the last ones made. A nice white one without the fake wood sides. Great cars. But needed 4WD so got a truck instead.
@@MadMax-fm8uz myself I definitely don't need another wagon Haha I've got an 86 Caprice Classic wagon 307 olds powered fixing the swap in a 350 rocket it was my grandfather's so strong sentimental value behind it so not getting rid of it for anyting. But I would love to have a full size rear wheel drive sedan
93 tune, speedlimiter removed, cold air intake and transmission shift point firmness changed, she will wake up
James Ruiz
How do you remove the speed limiter?
Use EEhack to flash the tune file. Use "Tunerpro " to modify the speedlimiter a.k.a " Fuel Cut off " from 108mph to 150mph
James Ruiz
Preciate bro have a bless day
Hilarious, that's literally what did to mine and it was a whole nother beast.
I know a guy who has a ss he put a cam in it and some more mods but he can’t get the lt1 computer tuned to the mods he has done to it
I would like to buy it if I could get it tuned
Any tips for what I can do to get it tuned?
Love the B-body’s 🖤
Still have my SS & I’m proud to own her 🙌🏻
These were not appreciated when new and relatively new used cars back in the days. They were butchered and beaten on as used cars once they dropped under $5K. Dealer maintained, one owner, no mods, etc...it’s gold if you find one. As the 96 Fleetwood is the last real Cadillac this was the last real body on frame RWD Buick sedan.
I would love to see a Cadillac Fleetwood with some Cadillac CTS-V modifications, and then some modifications on those modifications. You could have a true beast of a car then.
It's a great car I love seeing when someone got one it it's clean af I be like dam
I wish they still made the Roadmaster today. It would’ve sold like hotcakes.
the Roadmasters were actually a step up from the Caprices and Impalas of that era..
its was 1) the feetwood brougham, 2) the roadmaster, and then 3) the caprice/impala...
I owned a 1995 Cadillac Fleetwood with the same LT-1 and enjoyed that super sleeper grandpa luxury cruiser for 8 years while giving my '94 Impala SS some rest in the garage. These Buick Roadmasters are affordable starters for custom Grand National creations
I have a 95 Fleetwood which I purchased a month ago. I've also owned a 96 Impala. I want the Roady to complete the b body journey but I really want a wagon and they're getting a little crazy with prices.
I’ve had 3 of these. I do love them. If you get one with the trailer towing package it is mechanically almost identical. HD springs and shocks are readily available, and one you have it set up, it’ll dance pretty good for a big girl.
Hopefully I'll get to dance with that big girl soon!😂
I miss my 96 Bonneville SSEi... That 240 horse supercharged 3800 V6 was a beast!
My aunt had one. She said "it'll routinely "get away from you if ya let it"". After 2 melted egr valves & a cat conv she sold it.
Bought a 95 for $500. It doesn't have the LSD rear but it still hauls pretty well. You stated it was governed to 108 although I have seen speeds of over 120mph. Maybe someone tuned it? I'm planning on adding some heads a cam, limited slip, a built transmission, and an intake. Maybe even a turbo down the line.
that first picture of the dark maroon buick with the custom headlights looks delicious
I bought my 93 Roadmaster thinking it had the LT-1 in it.....boy did I learn a lesson😂....still loved that car though regardless
tbi pos ! 😂🤦🏾♂️
@@mojojojo3361 more like 4L60 pos considering that's what fucked up at like 101k😂 dude I sold it to probably yanked that 350 and stuck it in somethin else lol
I almost bought one. Only 60k on it. The deal breaker was the a/c didn't work. A must in Florida. But boy did it move though when I test drove it.
David Wilson could’ve gotten the A/C fixed compressors are under $200
Buy anyways and get it fixed,,too cool not to
The Roadmaster while although may have had a great engine and all... I've always thought it was big and ugly .... I actually could have bought one of these for 200 for a friend's grandma who can no longer drive and passed it up ... If I knew it had cool factor I would have definitely bought it to sell . Was in great condition
My mom had a 94. I turned 16 in 95.
Spent may Friday nights lightin up unsuspecting cruisers. It was a TON of fun. 👍
Ha that's funny. Good times!
No mention of the fleetwood and Oldsmobile custom cruiser?
The Custom Cruiser was discontinued after the 1992 model year, so it did not last long enough to get the LT1
@@papajhonsreal oh dang :(
@@gsxellence it's a darn shame, because even if it lived to at least 94', there's be at least a few more Big Corvette Powered Wagons out there.
@@papajhonsreal yes, I guess just the road master and capris wagon, and last would be the ctsv, sad no american g8 or SS wagons.
@@gsxellence G8 or SS wagons here would've been great. I also wish they mad a GS version of the TourX. Though not American (but G8 And SS wagons wouldn't have been either) it'd still be cool to have.
Roadmasters always looked nice to me back then
I miss my 91 chevy caprice 5.7 police package
Bought a rusted out Roadmaster wagon about a week ago. Gotta do some work to it, can see through the inner fender wells, the battery is held up by a 2x6. The spare tire compartment is basically gone on the bottom. Passenger window doesn’t work, snapped the rollers in the back driver window. Floor rusted trough under the back carpet. But the selling points I gave my wife. It has a corvette engine, it’s rwd, it has third row seating, and a freaking sweet Ameritech phone!
And the brake lines rusted through at 55 mph, so that was a fun ride home from work that day
The only thing that might be better than even the LT1 is to drop a Buick 455 Stage 1 under the hood of one of those. That would be just badass.
Electronic speed limiter? Laughs in hacker!
The Fleetwood is about 200 lbs heavier and 10 inches longer than the Roadmaster- still pretty fast with the LT-1. Caprice is 100 lbs lighter than Roadmaster same wheelbase.
Man that RoadMaster was vibrating more than my wife's chainsaw.
Love the roadmaster I had a 92 I loved it beutiful cars I have a a 94 Fleetwood brougham now love it even more they have balls
One can reprogram the ECM to remove the 108 mph limiter. I currently own a 1994 Roadmaster Limited Sedan, a 1996 Roadmaster Estate Wagon with towing package and a 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood. I have owned a 1994 Roadmaster Limited Sedan with the towing package (now my son-in-law's). A 1996 Roadmaster Limited Sedan (now my daughter's). A 1994 Cadillac Fleetwood. A 1995 Cadillac Fleetwood with the towing package and vinyl top delete. A 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood with the towing package. I have never owned a Caprice nor Impala SS. I see no need to!
I also owned a '96 RM Ltd with V92 Tow Package; I ended up putting 3.42s in it before I traded it for an '04 GTO. I've owned my '95 FW Brougham V4P Tow Package car since 2013 and the shocked look I get from other drivers (and pSsengers) after "spirited" starts never gets old.
Best car in the world, cruises softly, hauls ass and built like a tank. they're the best looking B-body.
Buick has secretly made monsters for years before they started making grandpa only vehicles.
They used to call Buick the "Banker's Hot Rod" back in the day. Cadillac's wilder sibling. Grand Sports, Rivieras, Wildcats, even a humble skylark in 1970 could be a screamer if ordered with the 455 Big block..whooooeee!
What about the 1996 Cadillac Fleetwood
Yes!!!!!! Finally!!! B Body Wagon Mafia on the map
Well then i should be a hit man then
Watchin this vid makes me miss my 9c1 1995 caprice 😞
The Buick Roadmaster is the Luxury version of the Caprice and Impala SS models
I had a farmer/customer who had a new roadmaster with military mudgrip tires on the rear--quite funny--to hear him arrive sounded like a humvee or deuce and a half slowing down. Didn't bother him at all--he wanted the amenities of a nice car along with some back tires that would get him around his fields. Unusual, but effective.
I love my 94 Roadmaster lt1 limited sedan... a few mods but very stock (was going to be a state cop ghost car but the mech fell thro with a deal... apparently they bought a crown vic insted so cheap modded car is win) and it spanks any rice burner or jacked truck, its a classy sleeper (don't know its number dyno tested...but mech swears 340+hp and almost 400fpt). Oh and since early 2010s I've gone thro 12 sets of rear tires heh. Love the review my dude.
That opening thumbnail sure does look familiar :) best time I got with it was 13.52 @99.51mph. 4200lb race weight all bolt ons.
I saw Buffman just a few weeks ago! Magner still has to put it back together.
Where did you get the headlights on the one in the thumbnail

Automatic Cimate Control was not offered on the Caprice and Impala SS of this generation. It was offered on the Roadmaster and standard on the Roadmaster Limited and Cadillac Brougham. Power Sunroof was only offered on the Cadillac.

Now 4 years after this post. Prices are thru the roof. I will hold on to my '95 RM Limited, one owner, 66k Miles in pristine condition. The last if it's kind.
I went from this video, to marketplace looking for one... thanks bro 😂😂
Published torque specs 335 ft/lbs at 2400 RPM and 330 ft/lbs at 3200 rpm. The LO5 had 300 ft/lbs at 2400.
Please do a review on the 2ND Gen Fusion Sport, great performing factory sleepers. Ford took an economy car the Fusion threw in an F150 engine, beefed up the trans, added larger brakes, made it AWD and it was competing with R/T Challengers and Chargers stock, with just a tune they run mid 12s and trap 112. Great cars just highly underated and over looked. The Fusion Sport is basically the equivalent of a baby Taurus Sho with the Twin Turbo V6 and AWD.
The Roadmaster is an Impala in a suit. The Fleetwood is an Impala in a tuxedo.
He forgot to mention the fact that it has a Posi-Traction rear end as well‼️🥰
These cars are the best suprising gas mileage plenty of power very comfortable and the cops dont even give you a second look . That's why I am on my 4th one but from now on I will only get 96's cause those one have OBD 2 which makes troubleshooting much easier

Just coming in to see how many people are going to *falsely* claim that, "this car has a corvette motor". It doesn't! It has a corvette block and that's about where the corvette similarities stop. The corvette has bigger and lighter heads, manifolds, the cam is bigger, the rods and pistons are different, etc., etc., etc...
The LT1 is a great BLOCK for sure, but the Buick Roadmaster definitely does NOT have a "corvette MOTOR"!

I got passed the 108 top speed limiter on the Buick by just swapping the ECU from an impala SS then released the car is slow as balls and takes forever to get there so I swapped in some 4:10 gears from a Chevy truck and bam… still slow but does the best burnouts of all time lol hangs 3rd gear smoking em 🤙
I couldn't get Clark Griswold outta my head during the entirety of this video.

GET A 92-96. I had a 93 with the L05 5.7. Now I have a 96 Wagon with the LT1. The L05 doesn’t make much more power than the 305, BUT it makes a lot more torque than the 305. It isn’t as quick as the LT1, but it could hold its own. Both are great engines. Not much a fan of he 305/5.0.
