Sad thing is, I would love a whole story about Maid Marian, giving her more depth than Robin Hood movies have done in the past.
But why make a movie where Marian is a Robin Hood rip-off and Robin a useless comic relief weakling?
Marian does not need a bow and a sword to be badass. She does not need to be Robin for her story to be worth telling.

I agree! In some of the old stories, Marion could fight and she does almost beat Robin when they are both in disguise on the road, but from there, she's just another other band. I'd like to see a version that shows her fighting skills and what she did as a part of Robin's men not where she takes over.
You should read the comic Notthingham, based in the script that the movie that Russel Crowe did was suppossed to be
Robin Hood is demasculated so Maid Marian looks stronger. I am so sick of seeing this done in recent films. They didn't have to demasculate the Terminator to make Sarah Conner look strong. Same goes for the men in Aliens. They were allowed to be strong and it wasn't a threat to Ripley's character.

@@lubaniskie living in reality isn't making captain marvel a woman, or taking a woman in the 14th century out of the kitchen or bed chamber and making her the only one who can save an entire country, even though the MAN who actually did is standing 5 feet away. For me ( and I am a woman) being a history fan, it is the destruction of the truth and actual reality in order to make female movie goers feel empowered or equal that is ridiculous. A woman back then being obedient to the men was reality. Not this ....whatever it is.

everything about it is cheap, nasty, wrong, silly, agenda-based... sad.. coz there are plenty of amazing women in history. You don't need to make up impossible nonsense like this to make a good movie about a woman. this technically should be listed under fantasy given the fact that this does not depict reality for a woman in the 14th century. To quote the exact encyclopedia Britannica entry pertaining to a woman's role in 14th century England: "Women were the keepers of the house, and men consider them weak and unable to do anything other than cook and clean." So this is a fantasy movie that should be listed right next to WW1984, Ghostbusters (2016), and Captain Marvel (2019) for their historical "accuracies (not an ounce in other words) and /or just changing the gender of the comic book character to fit the needs of lonely tik tokers who are not at risk of getting taken advantage of by men anyway....sincerely, one of the few women annoyed by woke-ness that does NOT have purple or blue hair and does not hate men because they (men) aren't into an ugly-arse attitude.
It really wouldn't hurt if they made even the slightest attempt to make the clothing and armour accurate for the period. It is totally wrong, and her bow use that they show is has serious problems. And MAYBE turn her bracer the right way around. FFS *eyeroll*

This looks appalling! I’m all up for a strong Maid Marian (Uma Thurman In Patrick Bergin’s version is an excellent example) but this looks worse than the Tarpn Egerton film and that’s saying something!
