Finns are a group of different tribes which include those mentioned and some more. Karelians are Finnish peoples too but have not been part of Finland for a while (and parts of Karelia have never even been part of the Republic of Finland which was founded in 1917) and have become more and more russianized. I personally think it's beautiful that people from Karelian Republic still remember their roots at least to some extent. Better than most Finns at least.

Karelia's biggest population was around modern day Imatra/Lappeenranta region but I believe Viena and Aunus regions were quite populated too.
