Take it out of the emergency fund, its literally what an emergency fund is for (to pay for large necessary unforseen emergencies). Id put it on the card that hives me the best perks and then just pay the card in full out of the emergency fund. Then 1st priority is building up the emergency fund back up.
Wait 10:59 the fact he acknowledged that it was difficult for you and asked if you wanted to talk about it. MY HEART. What a sweet caring hubby!!! You guys make a wonderful team. It’s so good to hear you guys figure this out together. ❤
Thank you for being vulnerable and letting us hear the discussion between you and your husband. It truly shows that we are all going through it and appreciate that you are not alone in this community ♡.
Hi there! I'm new and this is my second video I'm seeing. So I saw your products on Black n Blue's channel and I went to look at your shop. Then UA-cam started showing me your videos and the first one it showed me was the last video which I watched today before this one. Kudos and hugs to you for showing that. I know it's hard to be vulnerable especially online but I think it was very much needed and something everyone who uses this system needs to see. Now I've seen this one. The openness and honesty you have with your husband is uplifting and encouraging and now I'm following. Again, hugs and comfort to you and your family. In regards to your invitation to share our stories, I'd like to share mine and try to add some encouragement to others. I had been using this system for about a year and then there came a point for us where we had to pull everything from the binders as well. One of our roommates moved out so that drastically cut down our budget. After some serious thoughts and talks, I pulled out everything from the binders to the savings accounts. I put away my binders and my envelopes in a box and put it in storage. Every time I looked at that box, I wanted to get back to saving so bad. I know it's hard and it feels like it's hopeless because you've worked so hard and put so much discipline on yourself to save that money for when things become difficult. That's the thing: You did it! As best as you could and it may not cover everything but you did it! And because you did it once, you can do it again. You can always start again and again and again. This is just a bump. One bump of many. Once you get over that bump, you take a deep breath and start again because life doesn't stop when we don't have money, sadly. You know somewhere there's gonna be another bump but you're gonna be ready for it again, probably better than the last. That's where we are at right now. We were constantly struggling for three years and have finally paid off my truck and that gives us an extra 760 a month. No more living penny to penny. Seriously, there were so many times where my card was in the negative but thank goodness for grace amounts. Now it's time to save up again. I've pulled out my binders and I plan to do a full restart on my envelopes in January as well as start getting my little one to start budgeting and getting money sense. Things are looking up for us and I hope they look up for you too and anyone who reads this long message. I'm rooting for you! All of you! You got this!
Your comment and personal story is so beautiful, its refreshing and eyes opening to see that people going through al this together and just keep their heads up or at least straight, thanks for sharing
😭 thank you so much for your kindness and words of encouragement! and also a HUGE thank you for sharing your story as well!! I am so happy to hear that you paid off your vehicle and are no longer in that tight spot! we are working towards rebuilding right now and I feel better and more confident now than ever before that we can do this! I know cash stuffing works and i’m going to stick to it and rebuild. thank you again for sharing 🥰
This was truly beautiful... the support you both showed each other here. This is a good marriage... propping each other up in the tough times not just the good times. ❤ I'm hoping this expense gets sorted and I know you will be able to build it back ❤
I absolutely LOVE how your husband handled your feelings. Just understanding how difficult it was for you to have to empty your envelopes and asking if you wanted to talk about it. You really have something special in him🥰🥰🥰
Wow, the fact that yo both shared such a vulnerable, transparent discussion is commendable. I will come back to your shop for the envelopes for sure. Keep it up, this to shall pass.
I love this; you’re so transparent. Car issues are so stressful but I like how y’all talk through this. Definitely love this channel. You have helped me so much in my journey. The least I can do is pray for you and your family, much love ❤
frankie thank you so much for your prayers! I am so blessed to have my partner in life! and I am so happy to hear that I have helped you on your journey 🥰 you guys keep me going
I'm new to your channel and just wanted to say your husband is soo emotionally supportive it made me cry. you have all you need in your family the rest will all fall into place.
Hi there, new subscriber. I definitely know where you guys are coming from and how difficult it was for you to pull money you had saved for this. I experienced something similar last year with my Tahoe in which we put $5000 out to fix it and then it started having more issues so I felt it was better to just take on the payments of my dad's pretty much brand new Jeep Cherokee. Then yesterday I had to replace my Dryer because it quit. It feels defeating but at the same time It's a good reminder of why we build emergency funds. My husband had a heart attack last year and we are definitely trying to pull ourselves out of that hole in which we needed to rely on our credit cards. I love that you guys were able to talk about how to deal with this in a really vulnerable way and your husband acknowledged how hard it must have been for you to pull that money out. Thank you for this video
Hi First time listening and subscriber. It's always nice that you can discuss money problems with your husband and figure out a way to tackle it together. I would have done the credit card too and then just use the emergency fund the months I am having paying for it. Praying it gets fixed completely without any more issues 🙏🙏❤🔥
What a thorough conversation. I love how attentive he was to your needs. I know you guys will make it through. We all do go through a rough patch sometimes, but figuring it out together is what gets us through it all. I’m cheering you on💜💜💜💜💜
Hey Jen, I am so glad you got your car fixed. I know exactly what you are going through I just had to the same thing with my sinking funds to get my car fixed too. Every time I start my sinking funds and budget something happens and I have to use all of it and over. Truly it sucks. But I always pick myself up and do again. You’ve got this. You and your husband are amazing people. I appreciate the service he does for our country. Much love 💕
Hey hun! TY for sharing your story. 🩷 you are so brave. I was just watching Dave Ramsey’s channel and one video posted 2 days ago, mentioned a couple (sahm) $4.5M in debt. 🤯😭 these aren’t celebs either just regular people like us. 😫 You’re gunna get thru this, girl. Please pray about it. 🙏🏽 I’m also in the Bay Area, nothing is cheap out here. Smh. 🍓 but I’m glad you are saving!! Better than nothing. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Kudos to both you and Mr. StrawberryMoney for having this conversation and being okay with sharing with us! 😢 I am a new sub and really love your channel! 🍓
Hey Jen!! Just finished your video…. My heart absolutely breaks for you guys, even tearing up 🥹. I’m in the same situation starting all over again. Sending much hugs & prayers to y’all & having such deep faith it will get better. Blessings will come in your favor!!
you got this girl ! It broke my heart hearing the pain in your voice and your voice cracking . You’ll get through this. We all have different times but it only makes us stronger and these are all life lessons 💜 my birthday sister 11.27 💜💜🍓
Hi! I'm glad you guys got the car fixed. I know it's a big expense. I need to get mine fixed and got quoted 2k so I'll have to be in a little cc debt but I know we will pay it off. The important thing is to have a working vehicle. It's ok to start over on your cash envelopes. Life happens. Glad you and hubby are on the same page.
Wow look the realness of what goes on when things happen unexpectedly. My dad works with cars and I’m it can get expensive there been times we had to more money into a car. Thank you and keep faith you and your husband
Definitely will be purchasing the checkered envelopes!!!! Hope you are able to see the light at the end of the tunnel... Y'all will continue to work together and get through this ☺️
Everyone is in similar positions right now I realize, my partner and I are also starting over after spending all our savings pretty much, we have to stay strong and get through it ❤
Hi, Jen! So glad y'all got the car fixed. I know it sucked emptying out your sinking funds but it's great that you had the money there. I know you will have the credit card paid off in no time.💛
You are the sweetest and your hubby too. ❤ this is y we have credit cards I know it stinks but it happens and you will be ok!!!! ❤❤ thinking of you guys. I have to head over and look at ur shop to
Girl I completely understand I bought an used car cost me 800 go the title to it and it wasn't even working then it cost me an extra 600 to get it started now I have no ac and need an oil change so I completely understand big prayers that everything works out for you
You need to take it to another mechanic. I had a car and took it to the shop. They say my car, we're gonna cost $5000 to get it fixed. I took it to another shop and I'll only pay seven hundred and forty dollars
BMW’s are nice but once they need to be fixed, it’s inevitably going to be expensive. Unfortunately as they get older, even regular maintenance doesn’t always mean you won’t run into big bills. I’d really beef up your vehicle maintenance fund moving forward. So sorry you have to go through this.
yes it’s unfortunate because it’s been such a great vehicle and a blessing to our family! we are thinking about letting it go here soon in the next year or two. it’s so nice not having a car payment 😅
This why I don’t get expensive cars because I don’t have help at all it’s just me 😢we are all going thru something out here and we just have to be strong 💪 pray 🙏 and do the best we can
I wish you well. I suggest that you do a complete reset. 100 percent. Save money outside of the envelope system. Make sure every thing you put in the envelope system. You do not take it out. It’s ok. Take it out. Start some new challenges. A complete reset. You will come through this smelling like a strawberry. It’s ok to reset. This time do it differently. It’s happens 😮
we decided to check if we still had a 0% interest promotion on one of our credit cards and if we didn’t we would use the money I pulled from sinking funds and then pull the rest from our emergency fund. and that’s what we ended up doing. if we had more time I would have applied for a 0% interest cc promotion and done that. but I was not going to put it on a card and pay interest. no way haha
it was an urgent repair that we could not drive the vehicle with that issue or it was going to cause bigger problems. the stuff that could wait we are waiting on like the battery, and tires.

Did I misunderstand how this was handled, you used all of your emergency before dipping into Credit correct?
we decided to check if we still had a 0% interest promotion on one of our credit cards and if we didn’t we would use the money I pulled from sinking funds and then pull the rest from our emergency fund. and that’s what we ended up doing. if we had more time I would have applied for a 0% interest cc promotion and done that. but I was not going to put it on a card and pay interest. no way haha
