    One always hears of Hoffman, most notably through Offenbachs opera but surely not through his own musical output. Thanks for these charming sonatas.

    Hoffmann was an original thinker and highly creative. I wasn't aware of his composing till after I had read a few of his books.

    ... and, of course, through Schumann's Kreisleriana. Interesting minor-key fugue in the opening movement here and what an outburst in the finale (charming?). Thanks for posting.

    Sounds like Hoffmann was trying to imitate Bach or something. The attempt at counterpoint mirrors more Baroque music than Beethoven.
