- Sometimes we can't always understand why things happen to us in life, but what we can do is make sure we're taking proper care of ourselves. This is my story...and my unofficial PSA that you all should go see the doctor, at least once a year. Nobody ever likes to hear the word cancer, or anything to that severity... but if you catch something early enough, you never know when you could be saving your life.

It's funny, we take our health for granted until we lose it and then we realize how fragile life and health really are. Two years ago I was diagnosed with a heart condition at 44, it was found on a "routine" checkup and it changed my life. If it wasn't found there is no doubt that I wouldn't be here right now. Throughout all of the hard times, I have always turned to music to get me through and your music has been on my playlist for a long time. It takes a lot of guts to put out a video like this for all to see, you are an incredible woman, and I want to thank you for getting all of us through our hard times, your village is here for you! 🇨🇦

You did good, and you are right I am on my 2nd pacemaker/difibulater for a condition most don't know about but should have checked regularly
So glad you are OK! Don’t forget about self checks too! A self check and a persistent friend saved my wife’s life. She found a lump and didn’t think anything of it, but told her friend and she her made go see a doctor. She was diagnosed with stage 1 BC, and has been cancer free now for 10 yrs!!

I totally get it I had precancerous colon polyps at 26. I go we every 3-5 years.
I found mine when my adoptive Dad was battling Colon. My nerves gave me the symptoms.
At 26, had I NOT HAD THE FULL COLONOSCOPY I WOULD NOT BE HERE TODAY!
JUST GO TO YOUR DOCTOR IT IS NOT A BIG DEAL! I WISHED MY DAD HAD 54 is too young to die!

Sorry to hear this bad news. But my thinking is, its a good thing,you made that appointment for a checkup. You probably have heard this before. Its nice to find things like this early on. Sending you some good vibes, and hopefully a fast recovery. Hey something else, God looks out for good poeple, who are not exactly perfect. But have faith and can pick a guitar like no other. Like you said, the doctors caught this early, so now you will have a long life ahead of you! GET WELL SOON. You have an awards show to go to!
Good advice! I too had a scare because I didn't go the Doctor at all for 15 years! Wow what an idiot. I have always been told and I thought it was a "man thing" to not go for check-ups. Don't buy it! I got a second chance! Thanks Lindsay! Get better!
I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery. I would not wish cancer on anyone. The only positive in your situation is, at least they caught it early. We never know why things happen the way they do. With the exception of a skin cancer on an eighty-two year old, no one in my entire bloodline, as far as I know, has ever been diagnosed with cancer. For over forty years I lived my life as a drug free fitness athlete. No alcohol, drugs, tobacco, or junk food. I was the weirdo for decades that blended up spinach, kale, and other fruits & vegetables and drank it at least five days per week. My friends use to kid me that I was going to be that ninety year old guy, with the old bald head on a young man's body,
In January of 2018, I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Thirteen months later I am still going through treatment. Yes, it sucks! Painful tests, ten weeks of daily radiation treatments, and I have been on hormone suppression for eleven months. I still have approximately five more months to go. I currently have the testosterone levels of a elementary school girl. I still drag myself to the gym nearly every morning for cardio...and then back in the late afternoon for weight training. I have new found respect for women at the gym who are squatting 150% of their body weight for reps. That squatting and dead lifting without testosterone is a rough business! LOL
I guess what I am trying to say is...sometimes things happen that are out of our control. The only thing we can control is our response to the situation. You have taken it on decisively...and you have your family with you. That it is huge! You are correct in telling people to get checked even if they feel healthy and take care of themselves. Do not be a bone head like me, and assume just because I took good care of myself, and there was no cancer in my family...that I was Immune. I obviously was not!

Same thing happened to me too...I felt fine..routine check up and they found a tumor in my colon..was not cancerous thank God but they told me at the university of Washington that had I waited 6 months it would have been full blown colon cancer..she is right ..get check ups and put your pride aside and get a colonoscopy!
