The trailers were the prologue, so the trailers are canon and part of the story. The Schnee vs White Fang war is a personal war. The White Fang targeted the Schnee family and other people that are connected to them because they exploited faunes. But, as of now, we don't know if the Schnee family was a part of the Human vs Faunes war. Blake semblance isn't speed, that's Ruby's, her semblance is creating Shadow-clones which she shows it in her trailer and in the giant crow fight.
This is not a spoiler (story wise), but more of a warning. Even though the animation gets a ton better in volume 2, there is one scene that has very bad animation in volume 2. It is so bad you might get cancer ( just a joke, it won't actually give you cancer) All the RWBY fans will know which scene I'm talking about.
Blake's semblance is when she can cast shadows/fake copies of herself to take any damages and/or dodge any attack for her. It's shown on her fighting style on her Black trailer and episode 8 and so on in the series.

I really love how the argument between Blake and Weise kinda shows the conflict and history between Humans and Faunas, mostly the conflict between the White Fang and the Humans. It's comparable to the conflict between America and the Muslims. Not all of them are Terrorists, alot of them are just like normal people with families. Fear and hate and ignorance generated by the White Fang causes alot of people to distrust the Faunas. It's really interesting.
That too. Honestly it can be applied to alot of things. Like at the height of the Civil Rights Act if 1965 when African Americans began uniting under Malcolm X, they sought liberation through violence, much like the White Fang.

Yang's Voice actor also plays her in it and the fight is done in the RWBY style

It's a corporation that handles one of the most valuable commodities in the world, treats its leadership as semi-royalty, and mistreats its baseline employees on a regular basis. Think Coca Cola in a 3rd world country.
The world of remnant videos are good world building sources (also short), and they help you understand the gravity of certain plot points later on. You can watch them in the order of Rooster Teeth's RWBY playlist, or you can watch all the season 2 WoR videos before beginning season 2 as I'm pretty sure there are no spoilers (someone correct me if I'm wrong please). Also, the speedy moments do seem more of an anime trope. Ruby is the one who has super speed. You discover other semblances later down the road.

I suggest after the end of this volume watch "World of Remnant Vol. 2" (there's no vol. 1 for some reason), it consist of three short editorials each of them tittled "Dust", "Kingdoms" and "Grimm". I know you said that you'll watch them after catching up with the series, but it is a bit better to watch those earlier to be caught up with the lore. And don't worry, those 3 videos doesn't spoil anything from vol. 2 nor 3.

Faunus fact: every faunus have at least one animal characteristic. For Sun Wukong (the monkey guy), it's his tail while for Blake is her second (You might want to watch a RWBY Chibi episode for this - sorry but I can't remember the specific episode, somebody help me) set of (cat) ears.
Of the 4 girls, Weiss definitely had a more difficult time than the other 3. The events she has dealt with in the past, I'm sure her personality was affected by it. That's most likely why she acts so cold and bossy. Listen to Mirror Mirror. It's pretty sad, if you listen to the lyrics. But as time progresses you'll see changes, and Mirror Mirror Part 2.

Weiss has spent her entire life under her father’s thumb, having to prove she was good enough and live up to perfection. Her reactions to people is almost always to open up with a compliment or what she thinks the person would want to hear.. She meets Pyrrha, right into complimenting and flattery in hopes of becoming partners, sees Port and right into complimenting his teaching skills and then preening when he returns a compliment, with Winter she openly gushes at her but then gives what she thinks Winter wants to hear by talking about her grades and rank in school. I think it’s safe to assume Weiss does this naturally because this what her father always wanted. He didn’t actually care what Weiss had to say, he wanted to hear just what he wanted to hear, so Weiss learned to adapt to that and it still affects her now. I’m going to guess she also learned to not lie about it, so if he wanted her to be perfect, that’s what she had to be. When Port says “I see a girl before me that’s spent her entire life getting exactly what she wanted.” Weiss immediately responds “that’s not even remotely true.” And Port’s silence prompts her to continue, “well, not entirely true.” Originally this seemed like a rich girl who’s saying her life isn’t easy just cause she’s rich, but as we’re continuing to learn, it probably wasn’t remotely true. Sure she was given material things or whatever she asked for, but that doesn’t change the pressure and abuse she was put through- which seemingly thanks to this conversation, she’s doubting because hey, it wasn’t that bad! She got everything she wanted! What can she complain about? +Samuel Green Blake takes most things offensively. Honestly I find that Weiss is more correct in her argument because she actually addresses a real organization and what they have done instead of trying to defend a terrorist organization, defend their intentions and explain accuse Weiss of being a total racist though that isn't entirely true. I totally understand why the organization was created and why Blake was so upset but it doesn't justify murder and theft. I don't know why people dislike Weiss so much for mostly telling what is true. Except for her rare occurring generalizations but that is somewhat expected when your family has been at war with an organization like the white fang. It's expected but should not be condoned.

they don't really explain this but all faunus have one animal trait like a tail ears claws so a cat faunus would have cat ears or tail but not both

I think it’s safe to assume Weiss does this naturally because this what her father always wanted. He didn’t actually care what Weiss had to say, he wanted to hear just what he wanted to hear, so Weiss learned to adapt to that and it still affects her now. I’m going to guess she also learned to not lie about it, so if he wanted her to be perfect, that’s what she had to be.
When Port says “I see a girl before me that’s spent her entire life getting exactly what she wanted.” Weiss immediately responds “that’s not even remotely true.” And Port’s silence prompts her to continue, “well, not entirely true.” Originally this seemed like a rich girl who’s saying her life isn’t easy just cause she’s rich, but as we’re continuing to learn, it probably wasn’t remotely true. Sure she was given material things or whatever she asked for, but that doesn’t change the pressure and abuse she was put through- which seemingly thanks to this conversation, she’s doubting because hey, it wasn’t that bad! She got everything she wanted! What can she complain about? (this is a whole other issue with emotional abuse too)

Blake's Semblance has nothing to do with her faunus traits, she is part cat so she has the traits of a cat, night vision, flexibility, and the ears. Not sure if she has claws, but I doubt it, and if you cut Blake'scat ears off, you're just torturing her by cutting her cat ears off

+Samuel Green Blake takes most things offensively. Honestly I find that Weiss is more correct in her argument because she actually addresses a real organization and what they have done instead of trying to defend a terrorist organization, defend their intentions and explain accuse Weiss of being a total racist though that isn't entirely true. I totally understand why the organization was created and why Blake was so upset but it doesn't justify murder and theft. I don't know why people dislike Weiss so much for mostly telling what is true. Except for her rare occurring generalizations but that is somewhat expected when your family has been at war with an organization like the white fang. It's expected but should not be condoned.

I believe the naming convention, is the team name has be evocative of a color, and the team leader's initial has to be first.
So maybe CSEA (pronounced Sea) with Calvin as leader. then he and Ruby could be buddies, if he watched the trailers. With the color being blue of course, or green i guess.
ACES works too, but it evokes 2 colors red and black. But I like it.
Haven't figured out a color for any of the E ones yet.
SEAC can work for Seacrest and SCEA for Cyan. But I kinda like ACES too.
