    Hi Marc
    Greetings from Australia.
As usual you remind me of all my bad habits!
Thanks for reminding that planning before you start is essential for a soothe running job.
    Regards

I made this hammer the last time round! Turned out nice. I heat blued the head to purple & used black Delrin & brass for the ends, & a brass plug. A copper end would be nice but hadn't got enough. Might go back to it. Thank you. Love the way you teach, & love the videos.

Hi Marc, thank you for this series. These videos have been so interesting and helpful. I have never seen anything like this on YT. This info has made the idea of more complex projects much more attainable to an amateur.

Marc, thank you for this video series remake. It is very useful to see your schedule of operations in detail to help us understand what detail to go into as beginner Machinists.
Also, how should we determine which size combination center drill to use?

I also downloaded the drawing from your web site. It would be super helpful to see some accompanying schedule of operations examples to see how an experienced engineer would plan their work. Thanks again.

    Marc,
I can’t thank you enough for these videos they have kept me thinking and wondering and not staying stagnant during this pandemic. I do have a question though you got 550 rpms for your first surfacing operation I ended up getting 533.333 how did you get 550? I used 100sfm per minute too in my calculation too and converted 19mm into a 0.75” diameter or 0.748” to be exact.

I know your question is 2 years old but the answer is that 550 RPM was probably the closest speed available on the lathe. For instance, he listed 70 RPM in one operation but the slowest speed I have is 100 RPM.

Maybe there is some other video showing how to make the taper WITHOUT a taper attachment? It looks like too much for a tail stock offset.

Hi John! Both methods are shown in the part 4 of the hammer project video. Here's a link to the video ua-cam.com/video/R_tspwe9jow/v-deo.html thanks for watching and for taking the time to write, Marc.
