    Sadly, instead of being made in France like the Phantom speakers, it's made in Chine, where my money don't go...

    Love your review, thanks for that!
    Since I have issues with the esthetics of a home cinema setup, for me only a standalone soundbar comes into question and it can also only be wall mounted due to the positioning of my TV.
    So here is my question: does the Dione deliver same quality of sound/sound stage and atmos immersion in both orientations?
    Also, my room is a combined living room and kitchen, so it is basically 35m2 or 375ft2 large, almost square shaped. Does the Dione still deliver in this kind of large room? I dont really know what size you are talking about when you say „small to medium size room“ or so :)
    Many qestions from my side, but this would be a huge investment and it should deliver great sound for many years to come, so I am just making sure to consider the right products.
    Thank you in advance for your help, keep up the good work!

    Thanks. Would love to get your opinion of this vs the Sonos Arc

      Was going to ask this too. Arc + two SLs is still half the price. Even adding in a Sub Gen 3, it's $350 cheaper.

      @@carlover4239 I guarantee this has was more quality drivers than the arc ( just like sennheisers Ambeo). Low end, mids, and highs have way better detail.

      @@carlover4239 Agreed. It is a nice looking soundbar but want to see a side by side compare

      @@MrNickster12345 Oh I have no doubt that the drivers are much higher quality. Still would be an interesting comparison.

      Hi Matt - This is a great series of questions. The Arc is probably the most popular sound bar on the market right now, and for good reason! I love the Arc, and the ability to buy what you need and build your Sonos system to your specs. If I were to compare just the Arc and Dione directly, I would say the Dione smokes the Arc in every regard. But when you start to add all the other components that Sonos offers with the Arc, it becomes a lot more difficult to answer that question. For starters, in terms of rear surround, the Dione is lacking in that department, while the Arc can have a number of speakers installed as rear speakers. Bass output would be about equal in my opinion when using a single sub with the Arc vs the 8 built in woofers of the Dione. But since you can add up to two subs to the arc, you could fill a larger sized room with bass with the Arc and 2 subs really well. Adding two subs though puts you above the price of the Dione. It’s a case by case scenario for that one. Lastly, the front stage is unequivocally better in the Dione. Dialogue is clearer, you have a wider sound stage, overall the drivers are more sophisticated than the Arc, and the room correction is better as well. Add in the fact that you get all the mounting materials for the Dione in the box, and you have to purchase the mounting equipment separately for the Arc, and I think the Dione is an incredible value. It’s not for me to say that one is better than the other, but they have different use cases. I recommend listening to them and making that decision for yourself!

    Is it possible to turn off / lower the rear facing woofers? Was considering this soundbar, but I live in a condo and this would be in front of a shared wall. Rear facing woofers into a shared wall would not be very neighborly.

    • @Tobi9922
      @Tobi9922 2 роки тому

      No, not possible, since the woofers work in a push/push configuration. That means that they balance each other out. If you would turn off the back woofers, the whole Soundbar would probably vibrate really bad.

      Hi Logan - Thanks for your question. While you cannot directly turn off or disable specific drivers at will, there is a night mode option that reduces bass intensity. I would suggest using this mode if you are worried about disturbing your neighbors. However, while testing this in my apartment, I didn’t have any noise complaints from my two neighbors when in it was in the standard sound modes!

    So this is the first time I've seen a review where you don't mention the overbass. It's so bad that reviewers thought it was broken and had a 2nd unit shipped to see it was the same. Devialet need to fix that. Do not buy until thats fixed. Don't listen to this guy.

    Hello everybody! Hello WWS! Thank you very much for the great review of this lovly product. I would like to ask you, I connected Dione with my TV through eARC, Im trying to play Dolby Atmos videos on UA-cam or HBO MAX, but Devialet APP is still saying that my intput is: "HDMI: Stereo". Do you have any idea, why its still in stereo even if the intput of source supposed to be in Dolby Atmos? In your video its saying the correct playback format at 8:02 Thank you very much for any kind of help. Cheers from Czech Republic! Jakub

      @Resolved, My LG TV forced PCM audio codec instead of pass through or Auto. :( Stupid TV and stupid default settings...

    Boy has this device got some polarizing reviews. A lot of people think the bass is TOO overpowering and the fact they gave you no tone controls means you're stuck with it-- one prominent UA-camr rips its sound to shreds. In my case I love devices with no tone controls because you know you have a great system when you don't need them. Probably the reason I like DSD files...but anyway.
    My current system comprises two state-of-the-art analog components in both Conrad Johnson and Audio Research M--Ch analog preamps (and sister McCormack amp) sent to vintage Innovative Audio front cabinet speakers and dual 10" end table subwoofer, complete with also vintage AR Phantom 8.3 rear surrounds. But I'm getting tired of miles and miles of analog wiring...think I'm ready for a change after 20 years.
    My 11x14x8' ceiling room is nearly symmetrical & fully concrete block so it should bounce sounds around very well...so I'm looking for a possible replacement to a soundbar. There's only a few I'm considering though as you might imagine with that equipment list, This is one, both Sennheisers because they can handle my external subwoofer I really want to keep in the mix... and if I really want to outlay and probably be set for life the new B&O Theater looks pretty awesome too.
    Specifically have you compared the Dione to the Sennheiser Ambeo Max and Plus? Do you think the Plus with its lesser power and overall brunt but newer technology & drivers matches the original Max in Atmos performance? In describing my 11×14 room, which of the three that you sell do you think would suit me best?

      Thanks for your inquiry. Soundbars - Ambeo, Devialet, and most others, are designed to connect to a TV, ideally via an HDMI/ARC connection. They eliminate the need for multi-channel amplifiers and multiple wired passive speakers. In fact, connecting to a component audio system may compromise Dolby Atmos performance due to insufficient analog audio bandwidth.

    • @Scott-DJ
      @Scott-DJ Рік тому

      @@WorldWideStereo That's great, but if you don't have an up-to-date TV with e-arc you're screwed. That's why a normal manufacturer will realize this and also include an HDMI pass through like Sennheiser did for *both* their devices. Devialet skimped a few pennies & did *not* do that.. so they're out of the running for me as I only have useless arc...just like that.

    Does it connect to wifi ? So u can connect it with chromecast?

    • @WorldWideStereo
      @WorldWideStereo  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Eliazar - Thanks for your question. It does connect to Wi-Fi, but it does not support Chromecast at this time. AirPlay 2 for Apple users and Bluetooth 5.0 for everyone else for now. If you really wanted to use Chromecast, there is a way around it. Either by using the sound bar with a smart TV with Chromecast built-in, or by using a Google TV device on any TV. You can then connect to these devices and the TV will pass along the audio to the Dione using HDMI ARC. Hope this helps!
