we brought my 3 month old daughter, who was upstaged as the youngest person at the gathering by the baby who was born there. We arrived on 6/25 and there was still snow, quite a bit of it. This was the only gathering i've been to where they used chainsaws- the wood was just so wet. We got in at night and some nice folks gave us hot tea which was perfect for such a cold night. We camped by dundun village, which was the start of my journey of falling in love with west african music. So many amazing drummers- you weren't allowed to show up with basic rainbow style 4/4 barbarian drumming- each player had a part in complicated polyrhythmic music and i was entranced. Medicine warriors of the heart served all organic and vegan food, so hearty and delicious. Trey from Faerie congress helped run that kitchen and he did a great job. Somebody fed me raw san pedro cactus he had harvested from a field of cacti he spied while driving up from santa cruz. I frolicked naked in the mud, sang and danced a ton, and carried my daughter around everywhere. What a special time.
The proximity of the gathering to Portland and Seattle and Olympia, plus the West Coastliness definitely contributed to a cleaner, prettier, more well adjusted demographic than other nationals i've been to. But also there were tons of not-hippie peeps who showed up for the party, or whatever reason. There were folks cooking hot dogs, drinking beers and talking about sports camped by us- at the time I was super guarded against their normalness, now I just cringe to remember how judgmental i was.
This was a wonderful Memory. Thank you for posting. I came up while there was still snow on the ground and we stayed through the clean up. It was a beautiful trip with beautiful Rainbow fam. Had I known then what I know now, I would have cherished that time even more. Life seemed so much simpler than. I hope we can go back one day. Thanks for the memories Alex. Love you Fam
Thanx Brother for Documenting that for me... I was Camped right behind Montana Mud, for 8 days... I and my brother cut about 40 cords of dead wood for the family to burn... That was us with the chain saws... We Gave what we could... we appriciate the Love and respect we are given by the family cant wait to see yall at Home in Montana in August... Were bringin our saws... Much Love....
i was there brothers! call me menthol! ill do everything i can to be there again. last year i traveled 3000 miles via car to get there, worth every second. 2 years of rainbow is not enough, a lifetime is what i need. they are, and become your family if you let them.
Nice to have real drummers at some point. Fun til they almost started a forest fire. Luckily some brave folks climbed the trees to help put it out. One more month, and would have been a disaster. Also lots of theft happening.
wow, you must take your name literally. Tourist care far less for the environment they are in then these people do, learn some of their guidelines and compare how much destruction they cause in comparison to what happens to, say, the alps through tourists action.
Unique? Really? These people are no more unique than a group of people at a mall. They all kind of blend together by trying to attain a certain "look." Same thing with any other clique of humans.
True that. I remember going out there in my normal city clothes, nothing hippie, and one of these hippies were ridiculing me for not looking like one of them. I bet the woke virus made these gatherings even more intolerant of those that don't conform to dirty hippie
Pena q muita gent vai nestes encontros só por causa das drogas(algum outro nome?) e sexo.O problema é q muitos desses indivíduos são um atrazo para a cena com suas atitudes negativas.Aqui no ENCA é a mesma coisa.Mas fazer o q, cada cabeça uma sentença né.
GREAT JOB staining ANOTHER public lands area with the effluent from thousands of terribly unhealthy people, thus rendering it UNUSABLE for other tourists. sad.

It can't get more juvenile, chauvinistic, and noisy than this. Truly a waste of time.

Happens on the morning of the 4th of July. Not sure what the significance is for it, but after rainbow noon the noise returns

Enough with the drums already.

Goes into pits, never seen it go into rivers or streams as you claim.
