Thank you for taking the time to present this very in depth review. It's very helpful.

I love your reviews, Richard! From your enthusiasm about the bokeh and soft "look" of the lens wide open and +Gary Khyal comment below for Sony A7sii by candlelight, I know I need this! What is the lens design, a sonnar or more like the Leica Noctilux?

Hi Steve thanks for watching and comment. Re the design I don't really know sorry

It looks to be a different design than the original Noctilux. I think the 0.95 Noctilux is 8 elements in 4 groups where this is 7 elements in 3 groups.

Hello Richard, I just received my copy from China today. Just paid $280. I ordered it directly from the company. I have a M6 but I am planning to use it with the Sony E mount. I really like your review, very concise and entertaining. Read it first in your blog, then watched it here. Not many people own this lens and some just complaint about not being a Leicaand that is enough to hate it. I put it side by side with my Summicron and they look so similar...you would think for a moment that you have a German lens on the M6. It feels heavy, but not much and looks well built. I didn't like the de-clicked aperture ring but I knew about it, no surprise. I ordered the filter and 2 different metals hoods to see how they fit. By any chance do you have a Sony 7 camera? The pictures you mentioned that were out of focus are those of the bird, the girl in front of the kiosk and the Green Cabs?

Hi Edgard, thank you for the comment! A bit surprised to read you said my review is entertaining as I thought my reviews could be a bit boring. Yes I feel it's very well built consider it's price. I had a a7 before but sold it a while ago. Yes the bird, the girl and the green cabs are the out of focus photos. :)

Hmm, everybody is different. You have your style, perhaps change your background a bit and maybe some smart clothes. I dunno. I came for the info, it is clear and not convoluted. So the rest is for the millennials with their short time attention. I am a Canon shooter, I used to love Leica but these days I prefer to use their lenses, therefore the idea to get a Sony A7III, i do have some vintage glass and I do like experimenting with my cameras. As for my youtubers I enjoy Dustin Abbot and Christopher Frost. They show their photography and they are pretty savvy. If I want get a bit artsy (but humble) I watch Mattias Burling. I subscribed.

Edgard Wiresner hi , reading your comment and would like to ask you if those hood are generic or specifically for the lens. I’m thinking to order one with a 1 or 2 stop nd filter. (A7iii+techartpro)

Hi Richard, I was wondering if you knew the t-stop of this lens. Basically, I am trying to optimize for lowlight videography while preserving a visual quality that I like in the lens. I want to make short films at night under star and moon light if possible, or at least with fire/candle light only. I have done candlelight scenes on my Sony a7sii with a sigma 40mm f1.4, but want to get even lower-light scenes: sharpness is not that important to me as long as I can discern objects and like the aura. I like the look of images from this lens more than the 0.95 mitakon (which I hear has only a 1.3 t-stop), so this lens might be my best bet. Any thoughts would be so helpful.

Hi Gary sorry I don't know what is the t stop and I no longer have the lens with me so I can't answer your question

Oh, thanks anyway. Love the reviews, keep them coming without all the fake-feeling showmanship of other channels. I like that your reviews are veritable media coming from a person in a place whose feel we can encounter genuinely. It is a human energy rather than something mass produced for the sake of capitalism and all too often negatively impacting on the psyche. I think your videos are enjoyable because they feel like a true encounter with a person, and that is really an art form in our internet society.

Oh thank you so much for your kind comments. Yes I do really want to make my videos/reviews informative rather than just to post some videos to do well with the UA-cam algorithm to gain more views / subs. So it's possible you don't see me post anything for a few months if there is nothing I am really interested in being released and I am too busy to create any good contents
