Excuse the unrefined 12 year old hipster in me but the heavy grain looks phenomenal
I LOVE the way the grain came out! His photos look amazing omfg.
Yesssss
i'm the person who won this camera on patreon, it is still one of my favourites and i use it almost weekly :-) eternally grateful !
I'm so happy to read this :D
yoooooo the first youtube camera reviewer that's actually a good photographer!!
They're a rarity! I recomend Ian Wong, Kai W, Jamie Windsor, and Mattias Burling. Negative Feedback is good but his photo's are very hit and miss, his portraits are good though. I think Eduardo is the best still IMO
My first film camera... awesome.
My father was a photographer who shot on film cameras, but sadly I never got the chance to ask him about it and his photography career as when he was around I was too young to understand photography. Now I’m older I’d love to take it up as a hobby, but have absolutely no Idea about cameras, so I’d like to say thank you for producing videos as they shall come in very helpful for me. :)
OM10 was my first SLR. I think they're great, I've had 2 but both eventually got the sticky shutter problem that's so common. That 50mm 1.8 is just such a nice little lens. I recommend these to beginners all the time.
Had my OM10 since 1980. Great bit of kit. Still works fine
The pictures, grainy and all, actually turned out pretty interesting if I may say so. The "graininess" added an aura of sentimentality in the overall outcome and the pictures themselves seem to evoke a bygone era. I dare say it was a "happy mistake".
I still have the OM-10 I bought in Melbourne a little over a decade ago. It was my first SLR when I started my photography journey. I simply love how it performed and I still use it every once in a while. I was so hooked to film photography that it took me quite some time to transition to digital. In fact, I sometimes use my OM-10 in conjunction with my Nikon D7100 whenever I go on a photo trek.
This camera is a real keeper. I don't see myself parting with it any time soon. Great video by the way, thank you for doing it.
Olympus gang HUH?! #MINOLTAGANG haha great video as alway Ed, so inspiring.
Yea, Minolta Gang here, did anyone said anything bad about minolta? j/k, great video eduardo!
X700 gang represent!

I love my OM 10, it has so much character. It makes a really lovely noise as well.
I never had an OM-10 but is good to know you insights about it. I started photography with an OM-1n way back in 1976 and eventually got a used OM-2n body. My favorite SLR's ever, specially the OM-1. I also eventually got an OM-2s and then an OM-4 towards the end of the film era.
After a short stint with Nikon DSLRs I went back to Olympus MFT mirrorless cameras and I love them as much. I hardly shoot film but I still have all my old OM bodies in working order together with all my vintage glass. They sure are very reliable cameras (IMHO also the best looking SLRs).
If you like manual cameras then get the OM-1n, you will love it even more. Hopefully you will review some of those models in the future.
Stuffing up the development: been there, done that!
The photos look a lot better than I thought they would after your preface.
Great episode, love your style of editing and reviewing! This was my first film camera and the one I still use all the time, just bought a manual adapter as well to test my skill more. Such a nifty, beautiful little thing!
Yes, the adapter turns it into a whole different camera. It’s a must, if you want to unlock its full capabilities.
Also: Love your avatar. My favorite Deafheaven album.
EduardoPavezGoye you’re so right! And thank you haha, mine too! One of my favs of all time
Absolutely adore my Olympus OM10 its my go to street photography film camera :D nice to see you do a video on it
Thanks for a great video, this is my first SLR camera back in 1979, I've used this gear a lot during those days, abandoned for years, and now starting to use again...
Excellent review! There are many other eccentricities of the OM-10, but you covered the basics quickly and with levity.
Oh man ! I've been shooting one of this OM and i love it, cheers mate
I bought an OM10 with the adapter at a great price for the 6 lenses that came with it and then buy an OM1 later. I like the OM10 so much I’ve never upgraded. But I'm thinking about the OM10 D to see how those lenses look on a digital camera. Great video, that town looked a bit like Ledbury where my grandparents lived many years ago.
Really enjoyed this video, thank you. Love your work here! Great choice of percussive music.
Awesome! Just bought one in an unction yesterday with five Tamron lens. Can't wait to try it . Good music choice by the way
Today is Chinese new year Ed. Wish you have a nice day and happy Chinese new year.
But he's not Chinese....
Max Jolobailo but I'm Chinese. And I'm his fans.
Oh, okay. My congratulations!
Max Jolobailo Also Happy Chinese new year to you. 🖖🖖
Happy Chinese new year
Love the style of your review and the resultant photos.
I enjoyed your interesting video. It’s a super little camera and enjoy using it. Some people talk about the amount of mirror slap but personally have not experienced any problems. It’s very small and a delight to use.
Picked up an Olympus OM10 with Zuiko 35-70mm f/4 lens attached. Camera physically in good condition, lens is excellent. Everything working fine except one: no indication of shutter speed selected by the camera showing up in the shutter speed column along left hand side of viewfinder. Shutter and light meter seems to be working fine as I can pick an aperture, swing the camera from brightly lit scenes to dark, and the shutter speed seems to be changing accordingly. Same goes for aperture selection: I can change lens aperture for the same scene, and the shutter speed changes accordingly. Just no indication of shutter speed in the viewfinder. Comments? Thanks. Oh by the way really like that drum set groove accompaniment: I'm a drummer so that is a really tasty drum accompaniment.
Nice video. Great pics as well. I have acquired one and will be using it as soon as my film arrives. Just hoping the shutter is ok
always enjoyed my granddads OM 2n and the lovely little lenses
MEXICO WEY
I've got this camera had it since 1980 , but not using for so many years the shutter got stuck , I seemed to have remedied it by by taking the lens off and pushing the mirror upward while pressing the shutter and after a couple of goes of that it's come back to life , great little camera , I'm going out to take some photo's tomorrow , didn't know film cost so much though !
I love my OM 10.
Great video and great drum solo!!!
Very entertaining, great video and images… cheers
Hey Eduardo! Thanks for the video and also for telling about the film transport failure. It happened to me recently. I realised that the picture counter showed 38 the next day after shooting a roll of film at a party :-(. Good to hear that this might happen to a professional photographer, too.
Oh man, bummer! It sucks to lose pictures of parties. I know the feeling. :(
I have this camera, I think it’s great! I’ve been waiting for you to try it, thanks 👌🏻
oh my gosh the first film video that DOESNT have some low fi whatever music in the background
I just got an Olympus OM20 (or OMG here in the US), and I already love it! Ironically, it’s slightly larger than my Pentax ME, but the lenses for it are so small and light! I think mine might need a meter calibration though, as it seems to meter inconsistently with a f3.5/28mm lens I just got as well, but seems fine with the f1.4/50mm it came with (compared to my other film cameras, at least).
You make me want to try shooting in B&W so bad! Amazing shots and video as always.
I bought an OM10 after watching this video. I didn't expect to like it as much as I do. I do prefer my Minolta X-700 overall, but this is a really nice camera to carry about all day...unlike my Zenit E
Love Rye!
lovely photos Ed... I bought one off eBay turned out to be corroded with what looked like battery acid also inside was rusty. I sent it back and haven't bought one since... maybe I should look for one with a manual adapter...
thx i just brought om 10 love it
He tenido la om1,om2 ,om4 ,y ahora la om30,por su ayuda al enfoque ,que me da seguridad hacia mi mala vista
I love my Minolta X-700, but I'm sure I would have been just as happy with the OM system. I also love my Olympus XA, and wish they had made a manual adapter for that.
Great pictures!
Hahaa the way u talk and edit ur vid is so cute. Thanks so much this helps!
I found one of these at a Savers for about $20 with the manual adapter, which I think is great because eBay is way above that, especially for the manual adapter!
great review!
Another great video bro👍👍 thanks a lot💪🏼
I am looking for the spare part, the OM10 board because the IC makes the battery dried fast
I ADORE THE GRAINY FILM!!!!!!!!! What a beautiful mistake :D
Please make a new video with D76 please....!!!! And I love your pictures I have to say this place is beautiful.
The same thing happened to me last week, still enjoying your photograph and great review tho! btw can you do the Nikon F3 for the next vid?
I just got scammed on a Nikon F3 a few weeks ago. I sent the money and the person never sent me the camera. I wanted to use it for an episode, but well, some people are just evil.
Actually I really like the look you got out of that roll. That grainy look kinda fits the weather and adds to a moody sensation. Did you push to 800 or shoot at box-speed?
What film do you recommend? I love how your photos came out but I’d like to shoot in colour. Something not too expensive and beginner friendly would be preferable. Thanks in advance! Open for anyone to answer.
Any color film is fine. You probably won’t notice a difference unless you pay for professional scanning or buy a dedicated scanner. If you are just starting, buy cheap color film and have fun. It took me years to find the films that I like, and most of them are discontinued, so it’s a constant experimentation.
I'm just curious - when taking photos of strangers do you ask their permission? Its something I really want to do but never know how to approach it.
#minoltagang reference!
I just need to ask about how you did the drums ?it sounds really good.
really enjoyed the video. can i ask one thing where did you get your back pack i've been looking for one just like , many thanks .
I like your keyboard, it brings memories! Haha.
Very good Eduardo as Usual :)
try pentax mx please..
Dede Utomo nur He really should. MX is really awesome camera and a bit underrated. Very small, very sturdy, fully manual and has great light meter. 👌👍
I gave away my Olympus OM1 after I got my Pentax MX. The MX is smaller and denser, no plays and flimsy feeling anywhere. It feels like a tank. It is also super dampened, really you can use
1/15s or even 1/8s with 50mm lens handheld.
I love my MX :)
I love mine, however, the shutter speed indicator in the viewfinder seems to have slipped round and the mirror is sticking on the occasional shot.. So annoyed as it is the best SLR I've used yet
Don't get me wrong, I like the video but did you Google search for 'the most annoying background music for a youtube video", and that was number one? Thanks for sharing
You know, I can’t use bulk loaded plastic canisters in my Canonet QL17 either. Same reason. Weird.
I found same one like this from my father's old belongs does it worth anything at this time? It's looks so New
I'm interested to buy
do you recommend it ? what do you think about canon ae-1 and minolta srt 101 ? wich one should i buy can you help me please?
Whats the difference between OM10 y OM10 QD?
Hi! I noticed that your pictures with the OM10 were quite sharp. Mine come out quite blurry...I just wanted to know whether you manually adjusted the shutter speed when you were out and about? If not, do you have any tips for sharper photos with the OM10? Thanks
(It’s a year late lol) I had the same problem as well but after rolls of film experiments with notes, I noticed my problem was not focusing correctly (some was only focused with split prism not the micro one or vice versa). My photos with both prisms focused turned out clear. Low shutter speed may have been an issue but in my case, it’s more because of focusing.
hello i do worry about my camera where i might set my F4.0 and get a 1/60 sec shutterspeed but when i move to f2.8 (one stop brighter) the senor tells me that the shutterspeed (auto) is at maxed above 1/1000 which doesnt make too much sense.
THOUGH i did get one set of film cleaned/scanned and nothing seems too blown out or too dark but i just worry that i wouldnt tell if my shutterspeed is too slow . thanks maybe i just need to add new batteries.
I have this camera
I have an OM10, that always worked, but remained off and not used for many years .. I changed the batteries after many years, but when I switch on, nothings happens. Battery not detected .. no oxidation and batteries are new.
Mechanical parts are ok.
Any idea or suggestions?
Thanks
It's impossible to know by descriptions, and I don't know how to fix cameras. Send it for repair!
im a little new to film. I have a extra shutter speed piece that was added. I also found out very quick that it doesnt move. Is it linked with every other manual setting?
My vintage ass self loves that grain
My OM10 has lasted me so long, and I have added a winder...
Can someone tell me what batteries it takes please
what about a flash ? do you recommend a flash ? what taking photos at night?
I never use flash. I just don’t take pictures at night, unless I use black and white pushed to 3200 or so. I don’t recommend using a flash. The images look flat and boring to me.
I found this camera in my parent’s basement. They had it when they were in college.
Good Color correction in video!
Do a couple of presets for Adobe Premier! \O/
I don't use presets, but I already made a video on how I color correct my videos: ua-cam.com/video/oY-SGz9UtQ8/v-deo.html
What film and lens?
Um... I see nothing wrong with these! I think they came out great.
Does this camera only shoot in black and white?
No, you can use colour film
have u tried LC 29 before
Hi! Edpavez, i've Olympus om10 like your own. I've trying to move dial asa but it so hard to moved. Can you tell me how to moved dial asa? Thank you
You need to lift the dial and turn to change ISO
What's the drums track name?
What you explained at the beginning of the video happened to me. Basically I kept advancing films but then I realised the wind lever wasn't moving. How did you fix it?
Its caused by not inserting the film correctly, so double check to make sure that its inserted properly and you should have no problems
@@DeepBlue1882 I opened it and that's what it was, so annoying! haha thanks a lot :)
Did you get your Pakon line issue fixed? Couldn't find your comment on the page anymore
YES! I erased it because I fixed it. I spent all morning using the compressed air can until I got rid of that weird line. two thirds of the can went into getting rid of it....!
Did you say "They are as good as the Minolta, if not better" Not nice Eduardo...lol
I don’t understand how you’re so good. It makes me kind of mad to be honest.
Hi! If you use the manual adapter, and the light meter indicates a shuttter speed and you decide to use another, Will the picture be under/under exposed? I can't see what the point in using the adapter is.
Shooting in manual: overriding the automatic selection of shutter speed. I might want to make a long exposure, shoot against a strong light (that confuses the lightmeter and would be underexposed otherwise), or expose for a strong light falling on only one side of the subject while the rest is in shadows (the face would be overexposed in auto). Etc etc.
@@edpavez sure, but I rather talked about the type of light meter. With the ones that tell you + or - it's easier to measure how under or over you are because you get that info, but this one just tells you the speed you have yo set. If you deliberately change It, how can you know how over or under you are? Sorry about my ignorance, Eduardo, i'm just a beginner used to a canon Eos 5 and this meter is freaking me out! Thanks a lot for your help!!!
@@juangango it's actually easier with numbers: if the reading tells you to shoot at 1/25 and you shoot at 1/50, you are underexposing by one stop. If you really want to know the exact measure, just memorize the stops of light between shutter speeds. one stop from 15 to 30, from 30 to 60 another stop, from 150 to 300 another and so on.
@@edpavez great, i'll get used to it. thanks!
Grain is good.
whats the name of the song you used for the video ?
The drums are improvs by Rodrigo Recabarren. It's all in the description. :)
Some one more with Hasselblad 500C/M?
I don't have it anymorw. I sold it two years ago and purchased a Mamiya C330. Best idea I've ever had.
EduardoPavezGoye Ohh. I've just bought a 500cm few weeks ago and now waiting for lens. Your videos are very inspiring, thank You for them. Why You decided to sell Hasselblad and bought Mamiya?
is anyone know how to take long exposure in sunny day with film camera?
Reza Azh Nuetral Density Filters. Two 10 stop ND filters would allow nice longer speeds. Remember reciprocity for your film. Color film will have a color shift with certain ND filters. Two good Apps to help with longer exposures are Reciprocity+ and Pinhole Assist.
Also, you'll need a shutter release cable, and a camera with a 'bulb' mode. The first one is somewhat obvious, because it's better than holding down the shutter button on the camera for long periods of time, but not all cameras allow for shutter speeds lower than 1 second... such as the OM-10.
Minoltagaaaang! ;D
Hy I have such a camera and want to sell it!
Which battery are you using with this?
AG13
Does it give correct exposure?
AG13/LR44s will give correct exposure when new, but alkaline batteries tend to have a voltage drop off as they lose charge, so gradually the exposure will be incorrect. SR44/357 silver oxide batteries are used in my OM-10 and don't have that voltage drop off so are pretty much correct throughout their life.
I havr an OM1n lying around but can't find a decent battery for it.
Ahh, the OM-1n uses the old mercury batteries that are no longer made (PX625 I believe?). You can buy alternative zinc air batteries such as the Wein cell batteries, or you can see what other types will work with an adapter, as there are voltage adjusting adapters that'll let you use something like an LR44/AG13 but reduce the voltage to 1.35V from 1.55V, so exposure is correct.
come on it's not that grainy ^^
slevin kelavra Agree! Thought this one was grainier, and it didn’t have any warning about it! ua-cam.com/video/4b4UKfHU0I0/v-deo.html
