Visit Polperro, a quintessential Cornish village, nestled on the rugged south coast of Cornwall, near Looe. This picturesque hamlet charms visitors with its narrow winding streets, whitewashed cottages, and a historic harbour with colourful fishing boats.
The village offers unique, independent shops and some famous eateries, mainly situated along the main street called ‘The Coombe’. Alternatively you may wish to enjoy a hot bag of fish and chips to eat down by the harbour or even a delicious cream tea in one of the many lovely cafes.
Stretching out from the village are miles of countryside, with the South West Coast Path providing stunning cliffside walks to enjoy even more of the area.
Annual events include the ‘Polperro Festival’, celebrating local arts and traditions, the ‘Water Carnival’ and the ‘Furry Dance’. You may see Morris dancers in the village, and Polperro Fishermen’s Choir is famous throughout Cornwall, giving performances on the quayside in the season.
There are a number of attractions in the village to enjoy, including the Polperro Smuggling Museum, and Polperro Model Village. For lovers of the arts, visit the Polperro Arts Foundation, a community gallery down by the harbour.
