Would you recommend making hotel/camp bookings before going? Or on spot??
It depends on whether you are going in off or on season. Plus when you are dealing with them face to face, you can bargain better when booking on phone. But If you are planning to go with family, make sure you book first-hand because even the demand is high, they might charge quite high prices

In RedBus the seem to have a direct bus from Delhi to kasol which cost around rupees 749. From HRTC

You dont need to ask anybody dude, now its official, Pirates of Parvati organises Weekend Community Gatherings, every Saturday and Sunday @ Freedom Cafe, Chhalal, Kasol.

It's in chalal near kasol. Local people, hotel owners always know the schedule of such parties. Whenever you go, ask your hotelier he will help you.
